I don't think the rich people are the ones that save the money, I think it is the middle class in societies, who hope to have some money for a rainy day, while poor just spend all on food etc and rich spend a lot on Mercedes SL Brabus and on parties and golf, clothes etc...
About the description, the logic behind the bank bailout, (as was explained to me) was if the banks go under they will drag the rest of the businesses with them, or something along those lines, whether this is true or not well...
But in America the government gave everyone a check or something to stimulate the economy, but most people just used it to pay bills, so it didn't have the kind of effect that was hoped for, the way Taiwan is doing it though sounds so much better.
M13, I don't like to preach politics to anyone but there is something that you should know about the american government and Taiwanese government. When the government gives out $100, there has to be a source of which this government gets money. So, the government either prints the money off or raises taxes to get the money essientially. Either way, the economy gets a net gain of zero dollars. Makes sense?
they had a stimulus package in australia too. there was the tax one, where people who earned under $100,000 that year got $900 on top of their tax return. or something.
and there were other ones, you got $900 if you met requirements, there were 4 of them, and if you met multiple requirements you got more money. say if you were a student... or a farmer... or a single parent.
was pretty cool.
i didnt get any money cause i didnt claim my tax back last year hah :(
the govnment is not interested in helping out the people here in the states its all about oiling the machine cant do much with the 600 dollar bailout the govt gave me maybe buy some hemp
i like the end when you stop and give up going through the market.
"fuck me" hahahaha nice one.
(GPS always sucks in that way... sends you through random places that other ppl would know not to go through so don't blame it on the GPS they're all like that! )
$20,000 per American would cost $6 Trillion. The bank stimulus was about $700 Billion I think, but that money was split up between many major corporations which are supposedly vital to our existence.
$700 Billion would still be $2k per person roughly, which if they did it like Taiwan in the form of gift certificates then that would get spent fast.
I agree that the people should get the money, BUT I don't really know enough about the crisis to say for sure that would be the best thing.
Now you're getting voucher worth about 100 US dollars. I live in the Netherlands, so here you could buy something like an expensive razor or some cheap mobile phone. But what kind of things could you buy from that in Taiwan?
God thats good a 100 Dollars! over here in Britain people just sign up on the Doll and there gettting that every week or so, and its all tax payers money which does suck!
That isn't smart like you say. Smart would be not to pay the taxes. How is paying taxes only to have the government waste money to send back some to you?
The Goverment HAS to regulate when needed, and most of the goverments do so. John Maynard Keynes has the answer s to your questions about why goverment does this things.
with obamas stim-pac he has gone and spent 14,500 dollars for all americans over the age of 21 right now.
of that 14,500 we will get a check for 300 maybe 400 dollars. . . . . so even if we do just stick that in the bank and try to let it grow the amount that will be pulled from taxes will still be ass facking us.
oh my god u have people like bush and chany and u. what was it 15 thousand people murderd by guns and your former goverment had no problem blowing the crap out of iraq but hang on mordeth is a hazard to the world wtf have u even been to taiwan have u seen how they drive on the road u have to ride like that or end up dead man i would avoide the usa just because of people with your mind set
sonofagun357 we should come up with a way to get rid of this danger.
Maybe our country could send a warplane after mordeth13 when he's out riding and drop a few bombs in his general area. It would kill innocents like it did in Iraq but who cares...mordeth would be more dead and less of a danger...Mission Accomplished!
Sonofagun357, if you ever get to visit Taiwan you will realize that Mordeth is very careful compared to the locals. My wife and I are moving back to Taiwan from the USA in 2010. I am getting my cycle license before hand so I can get some riding experience.
Actually the US did have a stimulus last year where Bush gave every tax payer around $500 US.
It didn't do much though to stop the tumbling economy.
Most of the stimulus isn't going to banks either, its more focused on various projects to increase job demand and get things going the way they should (work for money) rather then just free cash.
and exactly how can you be so damned delusional as to pretend we don't have so-called "rambling threats to pedestrians" or wtf ever you believe Mordeth is in the US? Your comment is a total joke right? You let kids watch vids with adults talking about adult things and using adult language? and people will rate your comment to let you know how they feel about you - duh.
The original leaders of Taiwan were the leaders of China previously. But there was civil war and communists took over....evil communists. And the leaders of China fled to Taiwan. For awhile the USA recognized Taiwan as the ruler of China....until China bribed them....then the USA said no no China is the ruler of Taiwan.....because money is more important than morals.
In official jargon, the united states "acknowledges" rather "recognizes" that Taiwan is part of China. The Taiwan China situation has created a whole new set of diplomatic terms intended but specifically not to side with the PRC without provoking them.
And, in 1996 when the Chinese started sailing near Taiwan, Clinton sent 2 aircraft carriers over. I think that shows the position better than the lingo does.
While it's true that most that have a large sum of money don't spend it, they account for 1% of the U.S. population (maybe 2%). That means that it's left for the other 98% to get the economy moving. So therefore, the largest part of the population are those that aren't rich and keep the economy stable. The big rich guys will always keep their money for the most part and if I were in their shoes I would too - you have to secure the life of your children and wife and their children and wives.
Yeah, and when they spend the money they have, it goes back to other rich people. Who makes jets? Who makes yachts? The answer is, other rich people. The money gets secured in the rich cycle. Plus, once they acquire all of what they want, they see no need in spending more. Once you have the best of everything, there's nothing left to buy.....
The govt in Australia gave $1000 to families for every dependent child around Christmas. We are given $950 as a 'study' bonus for students. Also, $900 was given to people who filed a tax return during the year 07/08.
The idea was that this money given to consumers would be injected back into the economy through spending... However the problem is that since it is cash, people save it or use it to pay off their credit cards... which doesn't help the economy at all.
As you said it is a "day market" how in the hell is the gps unit supposed to know the street that isn't blocked any other time is blocked? Just hit the "detour" button.
lmao did u get to where u want to go in the end? and let me guess, its a garmin right? always tend to send u down fucked routes like that like the wrong way down 1 way streets haha.
Wow, that's great that they're giving out giftcards that can't be put in the bank. The problem with the US handout last year is that the money had little stimulus effect and ended up mostly being saved or used to pay down debt. It's nice to see the Taiwanese govt thinks about this in advance. Maybe they dont enforce rules, but at least they know their macroecon!
That's because the rich create depressions and times of economic instability on purpose......because they have enough money so it won't effect them. And then when smaller businesses go under....they swoop in and buy them out......and once they've bought enough.....they then allow the economy to bounce back up. And this will continue to happen until only a select few own everything.
Independent? The federal bank runs your presidents and they've been following a plan they've had set up for many years. There's no free or independent thought allowed when it comes to presidents.
you should pay much closer attention to driving when you are actually driving, cuz its not the place nor time to for articulating with your hands and addressing deep topics. very original, but you may find yourself very hurt one of these days.
The thing is, when the state prints money, its like a tax on poor people. Taiwanese money will be worth less, and thus food etc will become more excpensive. The government has no "magic" bank.
Its like your friend taking 100$ out of your wallet without you knowing, then wrapping it up as a present and giving it back to you as a gift. You will probably like your friend better because he gave you 100$, but in the end, it was your own money.
The government printing money they don't have to fix the problem ... IS THE PROBLEM. Here in the US there was something called a stimulus check. They ALREADY have done this but it was something like 300-500 depending on your status. They also had another 100 or so stimulus tax rebate this april. Either way, it just delays the problem.
Yes with America that's true.....your government has like a trillion dollars in debt. Most of it to China and the rest to your own federal reserve which is owned by a few american families. Who have never been audited. But the Taiwan government is one of the richest on the planet. They have cash to spare.
I don't know if someone already commented on this: In America we did get economy stimulus money $300 per US citizen and naturalized citizens in 2008. Even if $ is put in a bank, the banks do benefit. They were planning another one but it'll be a tax break instead of cash. But it hasn't happened yet.
What brand of GPS are you using? What brands are popular in Taiwan? Hows the text language input work on one of those? Did you actually have the right address? Just curious.
Australia is giving people up to $900 Australian. There are a few conditions to getting it though. To get the full $900 you have to have paid tax and have an income less than $80,000. You must also lodge tax returns. (I'm in that bracket.)
For some reason that vid made me tingle and I felt hot, like sunshine hot. I just totally had a flashback of being on the scooter following you through some crazy streets with the sun shining down on me. Good memories.
I live in Australia, and our government has given all tax payers $900. It's awesome, i get my money in a few days. Im not sure it its going to rly help the economy though.
yeah I hate people that horde their money... Not making this up, my dad's ex girlfriend has around half a million $ in her bank, yet, after my dad broke up with her, she decided to make fake checks from him to herself and steal $2k from his bank account, just to horde more... I know that's not as much as some people out there, but us middle-lower class folks could have a MUCH easier time in life if that money wasn't wasted on peoples' egos
My GPS failed me once before in a similar fashion. I was tr ying to get to my school's orientation and I ended up in an alley...had to ask a bum for directions.
I don't think the rich people are the ones that save the money, I think it is the middle class in societies, who hope to have some money for a rainy day, while poor just spend all on food etc and rich spend a lot on Mercedes SL Brabus and on parties and golf, clothes etc...

13mordeth 2 years ago
Yes, I completely agree.
The sad thing about this world is that if you point a gun at someone and force them to accept your currency you can bring everyone down.

Garmin, Garmin and Mio. You can choose. I think I missed my exit on the roundabout and that's what started all the problems.

Australia is giving people up to $900 Australian. There are a few conditions to getting it though. To get the full $900 you have to have paid tax and have an income less than $80,000. You must also lodge tax returns. (I'm in that bracket.)

You ever heard of the Federal Reserve? What do you think they do? The owners of it have hundreds of billions of dollars.
13mordeth 2 years ago
The Fed's money is lent to banks who lend it to business and consumers.
Do you think they are sleeping on huge mattresses full of thousand dollar bills??????
JimNtexas 2 years ago
The US government has a long history of handing out stimulus checks during economic slowdowns.
For example President Bush gave most Americans $600 each last year.
He also gave us $40 off coupons to buy DTV converters. These due have an expiration date.

the gps should have told to take another route

yeah I hate people that horde their money...
