Thanks for your work on the Atkins diet. I’m on the modified Atkins diet for epilepsy and it works for many of us adults with seizures. Maybe you could talk more about the list of disorders and diseases this wonderful diet had brought to thousands of people around the world. you should be on the Dr. Oz show
@sworda1 my special needs son was on the ketogenic diet from 7 months - 9 yrs old even thou he rarely had a seizure in all those years they only took him off because he wasn't gain weight and growing. Now the last five years on pediasure he's gain a ton of weight and he has lots of seizure we r go back on the ketogenic diet because he was healthier. Doctor are just people they only know what their taught a rare few go outside the box and status quo Thank you doctor Atkins.
@GeoSusan My husband and I just started The Atkins diet my husband lost 20lb so far I've lost 18. And This week his sugar has been normal 94-106 his sugar was always ran in the high 200 he hasn't had to take his type 2 diabetes meds in a week its really wonderful and he's totally sold on the diet.
@GeoSusan This is good for your son he will benefit the diet can be modified. What has helped me is adding the MCT oils like the ketogenic diet. Stay away from the aspartame. I’ve also been taking the amino acids supplements to balance the brain chemistry. A good book The Diet Cure by Julia Ross M.A. it’s not about epilepsy but explains a lot about the brain chemistry. CW
it is so clear after watching your videos that you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. you don't even look healthy, and doctors do not agree with you, whether you want to admit it or not. You realize that this sort of diet plan has been around since the 1800's, and has been repeatedly denounced by every medical authority since then. it will pop up about every 30 years and then fade away as people realize how ignorant it is.
@wazzzupdude13 How does it feel to be the ultimate in Internet trolls?
"you don't even look healthy, and doctors do not agree with you"
If all else fails and you can't use the truth, lie and attack the purveyor the message... They certainly did Dr. Atkins while he was alive and after his death, so I am in good company.
@wazzzupdude13 Dr. Atkins himself was a cardiologist, you imbecile. My cousin (an RD) also supports low carb diets. I've read numerous articles by other doctors and nutritionists who say that a low carb diet is very healthy. You are probably a fatass who sits behind his computer shoving in junk 24/7. Why don't you get on a treadmill instead of criticizing people's diets? Kent is a hero, who's lost hundreds of pounds and is now running marathons. And I think he looks great.
@wazzzupdude13 By your post you don’t really know about this diet. I’m on this diet for epilepsy it is amazing and I feel great my blood work is excellent and I have good health. Food for the brain. CW
@wazzzupdude13 I guess that's why the Harvard medical association has been promoting South Beach and Atkins for their life? I guess thats why they have fought the low-fat stigma since the 1960's when the vegan movement tried to ban meat and animal fat from the country?
I went to a medical school for 3yrs (it's a 6yrs career in my country) (I quit, didnt like it xD) and in my 3rd year i received the only subject that will be related to nutrition during the whole career, I can certainly say that Atkins/Ornish/Paleo books have more information about nutrition than what you learn while studiying medicine. You should just trust those doctors who actually RESEARCH, not those one who only read their subject outline
I am diabetic and have adopted a lower carb diet and exercise after watching your videos. My doctors are surprised by my numbers and you are an inspiration. Thank you for the time and effort that you are putting out to help others..no matter what others say. keep em coming.
Thanks - there is nothing better than encouraging others for 13 miles and helping them achieve their goals... Maybe having a PR yourself, but it certainly isn't as fun.
The government and the ADA, AHA etc are 20 years behind. Insulin is THE key to weightloss. Atkins saved my life and I have been easily maintaining my weight for over 6 years now. Congrats on your run! Nice job.
I believe eventually they will catch up and certainly in 10-20 years they will have increased number of long term anecdotal reports of healthy people now dying while doing low carb or Atkins specifically. They'll at some point either have to put up or shut up and lose credibility.
"You've been telling me for the past 20 years that I'll die from a MI, kidneys will shrink and die, I'll get bowel cancer, and I keep running marthons. Exactly when am I going to start dropping dead?"
i swear i was uploading my video while you were commenting on video # 3 just by shear freaky good luck i mentioned you and your youtube site in my new video # 4 ...stop by and check it out
You lost 27 pounds in about 2 months; depending on the amount total to lose, that seems fine. I had lots to lose and lost about 20 pounds in the first 2 weeks, so it comes down to a percent of total weight loss. I am glad you like the videos!
I love your contribution and your info. but I think it is important to state that low carb does not necessarily equal atkins program. I think research clearly indicate that reducing refined carbs is good for your health and your weight. I am very careful about carbs, but I do not follow atkins. thanks for all you do!
I agree re: low carb isn't Atkins. Heck, even researchers' "Atkins" group does not equal Atkins most times. Most people confuse what Atkins is or think it is one phase (Induction only) approach to weight loss, so one needs to read any scientific for what it is trying say, evaluate the results, and critique where necessary.
For example, the mouse atherogenic study where it had the mice eating over 40% protein, which is higher than Atkins suggests. There was also no mention of protein source.
In the end, one can only do due diligence, evaluate the science AND the scientists (since bias often plays a role both ways), compare it against personal anecdotal evidence, and make the wisest choice.
anything i ate i could handle it is it because of the diet? because i didn't have sugar in long time, and i just introduce it to my body? Plus doctor told me that i should lose about 4 kilo's a month and that 11 kilo's in 1 month is alot and he told go abit slower since u only have 5 to 8 kilo left until the wiegh i want. how can i slow down?
Check out my how fast should I lose video... The short answer is you should be progressing through the rungs of Ongoing Weight Loss phase like I suggested.
hey kent, i have been very sick for 2 days i was dizze, 40c fever..... so i went hospital check for swine flu didn't have it but i was really week could even go to hospital anyways doctor told me to i need to drink juice, milk and water and eat a bit of chocolat and fish. he told me don't eat any meat while ur sick so i said okay... i cheated on the diet for 2 days i think but i could eat anything for exemple kinder bueno i couldn't even eat the first bar, could drink juic felt real full.
Well at some point you have to evaluate what the doctor said and either accept it or reject it. I have never been sick enough to hop off the diet, but then again I feel better eating the stuff I want (wings or a mock danish) than the head rush of juice.

Yes, and figure out what made you fall off -- was it boredom, temptation, lack of planning, and understand how it won't happen again.

Why your face's kinda orange-ly? haha
Did u use spray on tan?

Nope. That would either be natural skin color or due to the Logitech webcam RightLight feature.
