Democratic Socialism has worked. It is in all first world countries except the USA. As for poverty, racism, et al, they were working, but they have been stripped down, made ineffective, or have been obliterated by conservatives ever since Reagan was sworn in in 1981. The efforts had a reprieve in the 1990s under Clinton, but he had to deal with a Republican Congress who were far more interested in destroying him than getting work done that benefitted the many.

The New Deal reduced poverty from over 50 percent to about 20 percent. Johnson's Great Society reduced this to 11.1 percent by 1973. Since the rise of the corporate special interest system in 1975, individual welfare benefits have been shrinking, and poverty has been steadily rising. There you go.

This is not true. Poverty and crime were declining the few decades before the 1960s. The Great Society created a huge crime wave that didn't recede until we started rolling back the welfare state in the 90s during the Clinton administration.

The crime rate has more to do with the number of males between the ages of 16-35 than anything else.
