Liked Sammy Hagar on his own...got used to VanHagar and dug some of it but just plain prefer the older tunes and the energy of the original lineup especially on stage.I'm glad DLR is back but the sound is begging for Michael Anthony and the performance is...well...picture an NBA game played by all the greats from '78. Just not what it once was. Dave IS singing more coherently live these days than he did back in the day and I definitely appreciate having 75% of VH anyway.

This is not Edwards best tone at all. It isnt even close. His front house tech didnt give him a good mix at all and it doesnt sound like he is using his own designed amplifiers. I could be wrong but thats what I hear.

@frankenstrat25 Marshall amps were modeled after the late 50's Fender Bassman circuit and didn't change much until the late 70's. Late 60's Plexis like Ed's were just 100w Bassman amps with better wiring and more control pots and used EL34 power tubes instead of 6L6's.

There are 100 amp makers that make more unique and interesting amps than Marshall. Another brand-worshiping bullshit icon thing like Harley Davisons and Gibson guitars.

And Sammy is surely a nice guy who I'd gladly buy a beer if I met him and ,yes I am fully aware of Montrose (Rock Candy, Bad Motor Scooter and all). And with Ronnie he was fine because it's second-tier rock music. But that's the point. VH was top shelf with Roth, warts and all. BTW, they suck now even with Roth back in the fold. But Vh '77-'84 is the only Vh that matters!
