@designbar1 : You are highly mistaken here my dear...The money that is being given is not donation...it goes to the qawwal and his team...and is offered in leu of the services rendered by them....when people like,they give money to them...this is how the qawwals earn their livelihood.

@noman0709 money which is paid to any Qawwal who is singing religious/spiritual songs, is called Hadiya (gift/donation). E.g. the cost of Quran is not called price/cost, it is called Hadiya.

Offcourse this is how the Qawwals or the Khattat or Mujabir or Maulana etc earn their living.

Never listened to such beautiful Boll Baant & Takraar - If there is anything that can be compared - persian Qawwali of Ustad NFAK 'Khabram Raseed Imshab' - A bit of Munshi Raziuddin - but I'll still rank Ustad Murli Sahib at the top! - Karo-baaray dil haey Lutta!! "Murli" was well known qawwal from Shahjahan pur (INDIA) . His father's name was Ustad "Kanhai". He developed his own style of performing of "TAKRAAR" in qawwali. He always sung sufiana qawwalis/kalaam. He is known as Shahnshah-e-qawwali.

eversince i have heard Murli, I have become his fan. Living here in Texas USA we dont get to hear sufiana qawwali. I am awestruck by the appeal his voice and his style of singing. Wondering how ood he must have been in his younger days.

i was in ajmer last month and i heard this qawaali there by the qawaals and i immediatley recognized it because i had heard it here. i asked the qawaals if they had heard of murli and they were shocked that a western born person like me would know who he was :)
