  • Do I have to use brown sugar or is it okay if I use normal sugar?

  • Its really nice how people say you 'OnePotChef' should get your TV show, and I understand that at least (probably) more people would have access to you but, you all have to admit that just watching him do all his videos from the comfort of his home, somewhat puts you in a relaxed mood. I just feel that being simple in this sense is better- I enjoy watching you work at your home- it gives me the sense that I can actually do what you're doing in your videos...You are really great at what you do ^^

  • is it alright if i use a bit bigger lamington pan?

  • @iluvu2amber Yes, that will be fine ;)

  • is the golden syrup basically a sugar- water solution that has been thickened?

  • @ashleytidalefan12 Golden Syrup is made of sugar cane. It's thick, dark and very sweet - similar to treacle but lighter ;)

  • OnePotchef, NORMALLY I DO NOT COMMENT ON YOUTUBE VIDEOS!!!, but in this case I will make an exception.

With this exception I just want to tell you how greatfull the youtubeviewers are witht he great movies you are uploading here on youtube, I just want to say you are a really great person for sharing this information and knowledge with us for free and on top of that you do it which such enthusiasm it is so much fun to watch you, You are my favorite youtuber!

  • Can I please confirm, are you using self raising flour for this base? Not plain? Ta, xx

  • @UniversalTrinity Self Raising Flour. Please note, there is an ingredient list in the video description ;)

  • @OnePotChefShow I know, that's why I queried the use of 'Self Raising Flour'. Usually it's plain flour for baking that doesn't involve raising. Ta, anyway.

  • You need to have a show on the food network. You have a great personality and you shine on camera. I have watched every video you have and tried many of your recipes (all wonderful by the way), you need to be on television!

  • i'll make that on a valentine day and cut it heart shaped and give it to me loved ones! XD

  • Can I use a pyrex instead of a baking pan? :)

  • @kathkato As long as it's lined with baking paper, that will be fine ;)

  • Could you replace the flour with something glutenfree?

  • Hey David, i'm actually wondering if i should make a sort of golden caramel sauce instead of the condensed milk one, so that it'd be more crispier or something..think that's a good idea?

  • @OnePotChefShow Just a question, do u need to use some desecated coconut..Coz I don't have that ingredient at this moment...thanks

  • do you have to use cocounut?

  • @31mjn You can replace the base mixture with 250g of plain sweet cookies reduced to crumbs (in a food processor, or crushed in a bag) then mix in 75g of butter (melted) and press into the lined tin. Chill for 15 minutes then follow the rest of the recipe as stated ;)

  • @BintuHurairah You can leave out the coconut if you prefer - it will change the taste and texture a bit ;)

  • can i use molasses instead of golden syrup

  • @superluvluv11 I'm not sure but I think molasses might give it a different taste. If you have corn syrup, I think that should work.

  • i love how he says nughty :)

  • Im allergic to coconuts. Can i substitute it?

  • @franchela22 You can replace the base mixture with 250g of plain sweet cookies reduced to crumbs (in a food processor, or crushed in a bag) then mix in 75g of butter (melted) and press into the lined tin. Chill for 15 minutes then follow the rest of the recipe as stated ;)

  • @OnePotChefShow thank you so much! :)

  • do you need to use baking paper

  • @ShaleenHadouken It makes it easier when it comes to taking the slice out of the tin, plus easier to wash up ;)

  • @MubarakBalboa No, you need to use condensed milk ;)

  • that looks yummy XD

  • Can u substitute the coconut??? Or not use it??

  • @emilydogz12 You can replace the entire base with a crushed cookie base if you prefer. Crush cookies in a food processor (or by hand) and combine with melted butter. Press the mixture into the tin and chill for 15 minutes. Then proceed with the chocolate and caramel layers as normal ;)

  • if u want a real caramel just put the can of Sweetened Condensed Milk in big a container of boiling water, leave the canned product boiling in the pot for an hour, then leave the canned product cool outside for an hour, open the canned and u will find very tasty caramel :),enjoy

  • 6 ppl owns a cake shop or coffee shop owner watch tis...

  • Hi onepot...

    Tasty!

I shall be making an attempt at your great recipe over Christmas time..

If I cannot find those small 'chocolate melts', can I use a dark bar of broken up eating chocolate (Bournville) that we have here in the UK?..

    Thanks!

  • @stralight321 You can use any chocolate suitable for melting. Try looking in the baking needs aisle at your local supermarket. It may be called "Compound Chocolate"

If you can't find it, you can use eating chocolate instead ;)

  • @stralight321 Yeah You can, I made caramel slice using eating chocolate.

Another tip is, to have milk chocolate set on the bottom, than put the dark chocolate and set it on the top, than get white chocolate and set it ontop on another layer or drizze over the cake.

  • @stralight321 Melt chocolate buttons! They work great too :)
