  • Hogan should have retired after this. I mean look at what happened to him afterwards injury wise. He could've been inducted into the wwe hall of fame the same time he was and not have been as physically diminished. WCW would have folded anyway with or without him. It was stupid to think the wwe could've been competed with on any kind of permanent basis. The whole nwo thing did have great shock value at the beginning with hulk a bad guy and all but in the end just foolish.

  • i was not more wrong. i said bret came in during goldberg sting and savage's bid for hogan's title. i never said anything about goldberg's debut. you don't know what you are talking about. bret wasn't cleared to wrestle til late jan 1998. this was the exact time the wwf started winning the war. my point was the focus on savage-hogan ruined wcw at this time. fight fight!

  • i dont get why fans threw stuff in the ring werent they happy sting won?

  • The nWo angle should have ended with this. The aftermath should have resulted in the breakup/re-tooling of the nWo, with perhaps new blood coming in (excuse the bad pun) as a leader, like perhaps Benoit or Jericho at the helm. The problem was they dragged it on for so long by the end everybody was sick of the nWo.

  • i agree. i like savage but HATED him in nWo he was the guy hogan betrayed in july 96! rumour has it he was gonna go back to wwf in late 96... he really had a terrible run after the nWo and would've done better to finish in WWF considering he won the title 2 more times for a total of 2 days! he sorta was the dark allie of sting but nothing made sense then. poor bret coming in during goldberg, sting and savage's bid for hogan's title...

  • that is what i hate a retard kids that never saw wcw dont no what they talking

about alwys says what they want now hear is the story:hogan and savage was

sopose to meet in a match in the next ppv called uncensord so savage costing the world title to hogan was the pre to the match thats all it is stop bashing wcw

in places that sholde not it was a good ending

  • savage: let me crack hogan over the head for a change.lol

hogan: oh that hurts....in a fake way .lol let me take a nap in front of everybody.

  • That's some great quality for a VHS.

  • I cant believe ater the fuck up of Starrcade, They fuck this up too. Damm you hogan.

  • sting is greatest

  • they blew this up for a year and a half and treated it like shit,,, they coulda dragged this out for another 6 months lol, dumbasses

  • I hated how Sting could never beat Hogan clean. Hogan's ego screwed up WCW. Luckily the fans didn't care too much.

  • notice at 2:26 a fan running into the ring tryna get to hogan, lmao camera man grabbed his ass

  • @Atljlr00021 ROTFLMAO good eye.

  • The interference by Macho Man, hitting Hogan and knocking him out was unnecessary. Just more politicking from Hogan...

  • i didnt like some parts of this, the NWO never made it in the ring, and after he beast hogan, you see one guy MAKING the nwo leave, one guy and about 7 or 8 NWO members. oh ok they beat us, 8 vs 2 not good odds lets leave, do what he says. the nwo sould have not have been able to stop sting from winning, but put up more fight then that. they came out to help hogan, so why would they just let one guy tell them to leave? i think they could have done a better job with this part.

  • Lol Hogan wouldnt even lose the rematch cleanly to Sting

  • nWo 4 Life

  • that was bullshit on hogans part but awell

  • this was in 97

  • @HollenbergMike no it was 98, starcade was DEC 97 when sting won the title this is not starcade. 98

  • bobby heenan hates hogan

    even if he is Hollywood

  • The night Big Pappa Pump was born!

  • I found it funny that since the Starrcade match ended in controversy, it led to the belt being held up (hence this match) and this one ended even more controversial and nothing happened

  • another botched angle. hogan was still down when savage hit him, so whats the point?! hogan should have been up and about to attack sting before getting hit.

  • I was there that day wat a good PPV that was Sting wins the title thanks to Savage those were the days now PPV matches has no good promos to hype the match these days

  • wcw miss me :( even if i love wwe hhaa

  • spray paint

  • What did Savage give to Hogan?

  • Lol a sleeper by the cameraman!!!! And he didn't drop the camera!!! Lmao that fan is a pussy!!!!

  • I was there! 1996-2000 best time of wrestling ever and can never EVER be replicated.

  • lol look in the ring @ 2:25

  • what i hate about this ending is...hogan would'nt let sting go over CLEAN!!

    jeez!

  • This is my favorite wrestling PPV of any federation of all time.

  • That was an awesome ending... never seen an NWO guy get WCW spray-painted on him.

  • at end u can see sum1 running into ring and being grabbed.

  • ...Could have made things interesting when Warrior came in later in '98 by having Savage, Sting, and Warrior as the WCW allies against the nWO...i should be the next big booker!

  • yeah they could have done big things with the warrior when he came to the wcw..but like in wwf the warriors ego was to big

  • I thought Savage joining the nWo after the build-up to Halloween Havoc '96 was total B.S. In the weeks leading into HH '96, Savage was tortured by Hogan and the nwo...constantly beaten up and destroyed. The Havoc match should have been the greatest Savage-Hogan match ever. When Savage lost after that and disappeared until the "blackballed angle started, he should have been haunting Hogan and should have been ready to KILL Hogan. Savage should have been the dark ally of Sting.

  • @piper727 that was stupid mistake of macho man joining the nwo after the tortured him from july 1996 to the end of october 96. I agree that savage should have been sting partner to finish the NWO angle once and for all.

  • @carl2680 goldberg squashed the nWo from july 1996 onwards til the stupid starrcade match with nash. savage didn't make sense in the nWo. the nWo was all about clarity and ego. macho was still doing his old gimmick and it never worked. if you watch macho man nWo interviews and promos it looks weak. though i liked his 1999 comeback, he never needed the nWo but i don't think he was destined to be the destroyer of this group. that was virgil and norton and buff's job. weakening the brand.

  • @bowlbrawl man you couldnt be more wrong goldberg didnt even debut till september 1997

  • @piper727 They started to do that but Savage split from Sting and helped Hogan beat Piper then joined nWo. I thought it was lame too.

  • That something i diddnt understand. If Macho Man was part of the NWO why he helped Sting win the title.

  • He quit after this match.

  • Pretty sure that Savage did it because he wanted to win the title himself, & he wasn't gonna win it with Hogan being champ, so he had to do this to get a shot.

This was all leading up to the split between nWo Hollywood & nWo Wolfpac

  • savage is the greatest :>

  • I had no problem with this ending. It set up a new story line and it showed Sting as the better talent which was the point.

The huge mistake was taking the title from him at Spring Stampede. Imagine keeping Sting as champ (As the silent non wolfpac sting) facing an undefeated Goldberg at Starrcade 98. That would be an epic main event.

Then you can go into 1999 as Goldberg with the title and maybe not beat RAW but at least close the ratings gap.

    But that is just me.

  • That is true..having Sting lose the title to Macho Man and then have Hogan win the belt from Macho Man was an awful idea..it would have been better to keep Sting as Champ longer could've even done a 3 way match for the belt between Hogan, Sting and Goldberg.

  • And Hogan could have still main evented PPV's. Have him help Sting at Spring stampede and him and Macho man main event at slamboree.

Then in 1999 when Goldberg is champ have the Good Guy Hulk Hogan give him his first loss. They may not have beat RAW, but they would not be hemorrhaging money like at the end of 1999.

  • Whoever dumped your comment is a moron. I thought I was the only one who felt the belt shouldnt of been taken off Sting so soon. It could of salvaged the Starrcade fuck up.

It could of been Sting putting over Goldberg, a Superstar built from the ground up. But no, the Fingerpoke of Doom and well we all know the story.

  • Probably some WWF mark.. The next time a youtube person giving me a thumbs down affects me will be the first time.

  • hogan is an asshole. because of him wcw was sold. he had too much power and control, that killed wcw

  • could someone put up the full match???

  • Check out dailymotion ((dot)) com. Type in Hogan vs Sting Superbrawl 98, should have not only that match but the whole pay per view event plus countless other old time WcW and WWF events.

  • Utterly pathetic the way hogan had them book the starrcade match between these two. And this match, for that matter. What a joke

  • Killed Sting dead. Most selfish thing Hogan did.

  • Comment removed

  • so wcw spent over 18 months building sting up as unstoppable taking on 3,4,5 memebers of the nwo at one time in beat downs then in a one on one match with hogan he needs macho man to smack hogan with a tin of spray paint for the cheap victory and from what i heard and i could be wrong but all because hollywood hogan didnt want to a clean pinfall loss to the stinger, in my opinion after this sting lost a lot of steam.

  • did sting ever get a clean win over hogan EVER! jesus! awesome build-up to the match, then it happened and it didn't live up to the hype....

  • I can't remember anyone getting a clean win over Hogan.

Except the Ultimate Warrior. And the Rock.

Hogan was always convinced that people wanted to believe he couldn't lose without getting attacked by someone. Take this match and the match at Starrcade.

  • goldberg got the best clean win over hogan ever, imo. on that highest rated nitro in july of 08 where he won the belt. that was a great night. maybe the best nitro ever. hogan coulda done so much more for wcw and the industry as a whole if he just put a few more people over cleanly.

  • But Hogan had no choice then cause WWF was winning in the ratings and WCW had to do something on Nitro to win fans back..so they gave away a pay per view match for free..which helped but they killed the momentum by having Goldberg lose the title to Nash which was dumb..during that time the only other person Goldberg should have lost to should have been Sting..which had his title reign cut too short too.

  • @ThisJustin123 Nash wasn't that bad candidate. But yes Sting and DDP could do it as well.

  • Lex Luger beat Hogan the most times in WCW - and it was only 3 times. I think they were all clean wins to.

  • All clean

  • well piper won over hogan with a sleeper..if thats not clean i dont know what is

  • Luger won with the torture rack clean too.

    Goldberg won with the spear.

Who did Stone Cold Job when he was a superstar

(BTW The Rock was never jobbed by Austin, he was just as big a star)

  • @MegaSpiderMan Luger, Angle, Lesnar, HHH, Goldberg etc.

  • I dont get how sting got the idea of just using a black.....attire...he had the scorpinshirt beforet hat

  • It was Scott Hall's idea to use the crow gimmick.

  • yeah i know..but the last time i saw the crow he didnt have complete black tights

  • WCW 4 life!

  • Super Brawl is somekind of WrestleMania?

  • no Starcade superbrawl is like backlash

  • no just as wrestlemania, summerslam, surivior series and royalrumble is wwes big four, the wcws was starcade, superbrawl, great american bash and halloween havoc..but wcw in general had a more even ppv scheduale...wwfs in your house was useless and the big four was great..the wcw had it all pretty much the same...exept for road wild..i hated road wild

  • @Besherk i would argue that bash at the beach was a bigger ppv for wcw than GAB. just look at what happened at batb over the years. 96: nwo formed, 97: rodman/hogan vs giant/luger, 98: rodman/hogan vs ddp/malone, 2000: jarrett lay down for hogan & russo publicly fired hogan. nothing as big as any of those things ever took place at the GAB.

  • I was there!! I was cheering wildly in my Sting shirt

  • I loved how once the NWO got like 23 members, it would always send the B team out to try to help Hogan, and the B team was: Norton, Vince, Bagwell, Wallstreet, Brina Adams.

  • Wallstreet was out in 97 when Ray "Bossman" Traylor left

  • have u ever realized tht Bobby Heenan never like Hogan either as a face or a heel?

  • @musclebuster10 Although they were good friends in real life.

  • @musclebuster10 I Think heenan was trying to let the public know who was the real hogan.

  • God Mode Sting rulues!!!

  • this is what killed them in the end as much as anything else: every important match is tainted with gimmicks and paperviews end with someone the winner and then everyone finds out that the title was held up and the end wasn't really the end (such as Starrcade 97)so they fell cheated. Less gimmicks and more decisive outcomes!!

  • hahaha. did u guys see that one guy jump in the ring at the end after sting walked out and start dancing, but then get choked out by the camera man???? man i miss wcw... haha!

  • ...say what u want ...this is when wrestling was friggin great

  • another stupid ending by wcw

  • lol@ Vincent.

    he was terrible

  • WCW gets it wrong AGAIN. The simultaneous deathdrop/Hogan kicks ref bit was cool, but after that? The nWo interference is made to look pathetic, because all the members go down from a single punch. Then Savage rushes in with the spray can...first, the idea of Hogan being knocked cold by a spray can is not believeable, and second, it set up ANOTHER tainted win for Sting. Why did WCW not realise that babyfaces need to win clean to go over with the fans??? WCW really wasted Sting's potential.

  • the nWo shouldve ended here and never came back

  • Are you kidding!

Everyone was so into it at the time, it was one of the Biggest things in Wrestling. Did you see all the NWO shirts and Wolfpack gestures in the crowd?

They should've ended with The Wolfpack and B/W having a 5 on 5 Elimination Match in August 1998.

  • NWo should've never lasted that long. What they should've done was some elimination match like you said, but between WCW and NWO. Also, the elimination match should've ended with WCW winning and with Bret Hart being the last man and him overcoming the odds to win.

  • What odds?

    It's Bret frickin' Hart!

  • Well said!

  • Also, that match should've taken place at Spring Stampede.

  • Exactly, there should've been a match at Fall Brawl (war games style) NWO Hollywood vs Wolfpac. The faction that loses must disband at once and winner gets to stay. Wolfpac should have won stayed for about another year and then been disbanded because of inner problems and just had people go as tag teams or solo.

Sting should've kept the belt till starcade and lost to Goldberg. Then Goldberg should've lost to the next up and coming YOUNG super start CLEAN to put him over...Damn, WCW fucked up.

  • i agree with most of what u said man, but hogan needed to put goldberg over. it wouldn't have been quite as special or meant as much if goldberg had won it from sting cuz they were both faces. i do agree that sting shoulda won cleanly at starcade over hogan and then kept the belt til the summer maybe and then lost it to hogan on a screw job. then goldberg could've faced hogan at starcade after months of buildup and won cleanly. i would've also like to see raven get a heavyweight title reign.

  • Sting had this match won with the Scorpion Death Drop, so Randy's hitting him with the spray can, didn't mean anything.

  • Hogan was recovering thanks to the intervention

  • So you agree with me in that Sting won fairly.

  • The only part of the Sting/Hogan match that's really worth watching (imo).

  • do you guys have superbrawl show

  • "And it says WCW which means 4- life" ha ha ha Bobby the brain Heenan once again with that gutbusting chuckle.

  • Once again, Hogan doesn't lose clean...

  • yeah, that was dumb , it made sting look like a cheater because savage hit hogan and then sting covered him... what sting should have done is after savage hit hogan, sting should have picked hogan back up and give him another deathdrop.. wat do u thinK?? i still want this ppv on dvd

  • Are you kidding me, this was a clean victory if there ever was one. Sting had him pinned
