Wow. He is an inspiration to writers everywhere, or at least he should be. You know how many writers would remember you, call you, draw you a picture, and have an intimate conversation with you??? Not many! Clive sounds so amazingly nice. I would love to meet him.
Clive Barker is true to himself as a human being and as a multi-talented artist, he is just BEYOND AWESOME, he loves his fans and has a genuine love and affection for them, he is a true inspiration to all, and yes, as the fan says in the film, it would be an HONOUR to meet Clive, this man is totally unique and is a torch of beauty in the ugly darkness of existence...
what the hell he sketched him pinhead with a sharpie while holding a intelligent conversation in less than three minutes unreal this guy is a true artist along the lines of da vinci him
THIS is an author who appreciates his fans. He's drawing personal sketches, giving film making advice, getting to know a bit about his fan's background. What a fucking awesome guy.
What a top bloke I love Clive Barker his novels are awesome. He has lost his Liverpool accent though hehe. Just great to see he is still down to earth bloke does England proud :-)
I have only read Weaveworld and the Thief of Always. He is such a creative guy, and his fantasy epics are huge. Do you think Imajica or Great and Secret Show owuld be good reads in the future?
I cannot strongly enough recommend Imajica (specifically) and the Great and Secret Show... I think that you will love them, they're certainly my two favorites in his series. I'd certainly attach Coldheart Canyon to my list as well... :) Enjoy!
Oh my goodness, I can but echo jonathankui's sentiments; Imajica is Barker's magnum opus, a metaphysical epic the like of which I have yet to come across an equal to. The Great and Secret Show is similarly wonderful, though very, very different in terms of its tone, intentions and conclusions (if such a definite term can be applied to such a work). Go ye forth and read!
I disagree with your veiw on his magnum opus but i see your point. Scarlet Gospel will be his most popular book ever and the one i would want to see made into a film before i die
Its going to delve into the Cenobites role in hell and show Pinhead's and rank in it. Plus were have Harry D vs Pinhead. Where can you go wrong?
yeh imajica was a true masterpiece that book tough one to read but once you get through it youre just in awe by the story actually started to read it again on the part where he disemboweled dowd
I love the way clive suggest's you mix Pinhead with chinese mythology. That would be friggin awesome. I've been a fan ever since i watched HELLRAISER for the first time.... Now i have all his book's. And all the movies. Sadly the movies never do the book's justice. My fave book is SACRAMENT.... You are so lucky to have met him. Im sooo jealous.
I'd recommend starting with The Great and Secret Show or Weaveworld... Then, if you're in the mood for an epic, I'd try his greatest work, Imajica. And then for something different, I'd finish off with Coldheart Canyon... :) Good luck!
Jealous? Who's jealous???????????????? Grmpf bloody bastard you! Hope you deserved that *grin*!!
I've read almost every CB-book, books of blood, Hellbound Heart, Damnation Game, NightBreed, Great & Secret Show... now I'm 3/4 throught Imajica... took a break for some years. With Jack Ketchum. An even sicker guy! But both are so fuck'n'handsome and just really NICE.
Jonathon, it's great that you were able to film your meeting with him and share - firsthand - his response to Hellraiser fanfilms. It's a real insight that i think will probably never be available through mainstream media avenues. Thanks again.
Kudos on getting a "droll" request achieved! Is the sketch hanging proudly on your wall?
Absolutely Awesome. I really wanted to go to this. The last time I met Clive was for the Galilee tour. How many people showed for this?
I'll never forget back in 1997 in Atlanta Georgia at Dragon Con being around him for hours each day for the 50 or so fan club members talking art and books. The best writer ever to exist.

Nice! An autographed sketch of Hellraiser's Pinhead. IIRC that was one of the most memorable characters whose debut was a fandom favorite.
