This commercial is biased, although humorous it is moronic b/c we have a gay ass civic with lame aesthetic mods, nothing under the hood is shown. It's also a much older car, about a 92-95 eg. You buy an older car, put money into performance and a clean look, the Honda will be on the same page with the VW for looks, but it will smoke its ass.

I have nothing against Hondas (other than their nature), my dad has owned 2 Accords - one after the other. The first 2005 EX I4 - 82,500mi all original except the tires. The new one (2008 EX V6) is total crap, however.

The point of buying an older car that you can get inexpensively. All Hondas have a performance counterpart, RESEARCH IT. The Civic, Integra, Accord Type R's. Engine swaps, functional turbo setups, if they are done right, you've got receipts, dyno sheets, track times to prove it, you can sell it higher than what you paid for it. You will never got what you get out of it, but thats part of investing money into a car. Certain cars are the exception tho, like a Supra.

Why do all that when you can have a new car? A new car that you'll cherish. A new car that you can pass to your children. Modding a car properly is hard work and just plain risky. Then, when you're done - you're just another ricer. Even if tasteful, you have to explain what your car is to everyone. Not cool.

German cars have always been better than Japanese cars, every innovation in car design has come out of Germany. VW had their own wind-tunnel before Japs even THOUGHT about aerodynamics.

LoL you totally miss point of re-doing a car apparently, whether an American classic or a JDM race spec import, building anything right is cool. Plus, building an import right does not make you a ricer. When you have to explain it, if you did it right, you have built something very unique and perhaps custom since you can't BUY a car the same way in stock form.

The only innovative thing Japan has brought into automotive world is probably VTEC. And that hasn't done much to deter the Germans.

Japanese cars have no pedigree, no soul. They have alwayes been out to make money. VW will always make cars for the people.

I can see the passion and love that one can put into working on a car, I'm just saying it's downright impractical if you don't intend to keep the car until the wheels fall off.

Honda did VTEC, but look at what Mitsubishi did, teamed up with Dodge during the 80s and 90s. They pioneered turbo 4cyl and 6cyl cars, both fwd, rwd, and awd. Many Japanese car companies also offer vehicles to the Asian and Euro market that have never been officially sold in the states. Many of their cars have lots of pedigree, lots of soul. You are foolish to say that. Ask any real tuner, who has spent countless hours working on their ride. Understand?

LoL dude, lay down the pipe, because you don't know WTF you are talking about. The Civic Type R outperforms every other sport hatchback in its class, including the Focus RS and your precious GTI. Plus, both the ek9 and ep3 chassis are much better looking than this Golf. I love my 96 hatch, don't care if mine isn't a factory sport model, I've redone the suspension with Integra struts, LCA's, and sway bars. With a turbo setup and rebuild on my sohc vtec, GTIs will see nothing but my taillights =D
