Please compare the Cairo museum to the Aswans Nubian museum. One should see many similarities due to the assimilation of Nubians in Egyptian culture. I hope if the chance is taken to explore the Cairo museum one will note due to the countless artifacts the diverse people conquered by the Egyptians.
Nubians helped defend Egypt from attackers by uniting forces with the Pharonic rulers at one point controlled a portion near the west bank. In modern history it was the wonderful nubians whom helped with the excavations of historical relics and in the Egypt Israel war under Abdel Nasser they were the communication inteligence! I suggest that for those who can a trip to Egypt would be benificial. Check out the Egypts national museum in Cairo and the Nubian Museum in Aswan.
I would like to simply state for the purpose of knowlege that there are over 3o dynasties in which exhist in Egyptian history. Nubians did in fact have a strong and important rule in Egypts formation (depending on the dynasty in question).
as a cultural anthropologist: the ancient people of egypt were always meditrrranean-caucuzi. and the start of the pharonic dynasty of were called the herouxs peoples. it has to be noted before i go on that "race" is an artificial term which is currently under scrutiny since the once used standards really do not apply. Biologically scientists would define it as genetic differences in the same species caused for example by geographic boundries and isolation.
May I quote your statement about the construct of "race"? I've recently been in a discussion with an individual who is convinced that somehow skin tone="race"...
There will be bridges when there are rivers. All of you who posted you dry sand cand live in you dry sand with rocks in your pockets for wind control.
learn to live or learn to die. ME-sters learn to die and you aren't capable of learning to live, all you,no matter what ME country your in, only know how to die.
I can only say that since the nubian culture and its art forms are inaccessable and almost extinct except the odd nubian gangsta rap group, the attempts to revive and honor this avenue of middle eastern culture and dance are in most cases (including this)a fair and respectful representation.sorry that the other cultures in the surrounding area are so judgemental.
These are Arabs not Nubians.. The Nubians and Egyptians never Dance like that! Hope you understand the people of the Nile Valley in Ancient times were All Africans. Arabs and Europeans are not Ancient People!
hey thanks for shedding more light. I read a novel that carries the same story of how Arab language came to Egypt. it's beautiful. I love arrabic rythm. the drum and guitar is exotic. the mixture of arab and african is one sweet one. there is alot of spice. thanks
lol all Egyptians aren't arabs, they are "blacks" - aka African. You can see it in the normal street people (nevermind the famous media Egyptians, with all the make up lol). We're only called arabs because we speak it, as it is the language of the Quran, which is the majority religion in Egypt. When the middle-eastern arabs came into Egypt, they brought the religion &language with them. Before them, we did not speak arabic. We spoke coptic, deriven from ancient egyptian when Egypt was catholic.
and before catholic Egypt, the beautiful, best of all: Ancient Egypt. Nubians were always Egyptians, since the Pharaoh days. They were the strongest army ever. The wittiest too. Anyway, modern bellydance is just commercialized... in reality, the REAL Egyptian stuff is "baladi" dance, it's native, it's a combination of the Nubian you see here and the commercial bellydance. If u wanna ask more message me plz =) i'll xplain more
