In the bible in the old testament times, in order to cleanse your sins, you would need to have blood shed in order for you sins to be cleansed by a sacrifice pleasing to God, "Lamb" something innocent. The blood would cover our sins, so God would only see that, and not see the bad stuff we did, but the thing about that we had to do it a lot, so Jesus did the ultimate sacrifice with his life and his blood to cleanse us, so we are right before God. The one thing Jars of Clay knows, died for us.
