  • I don't know why should people discuss about Beatles vs. Bee Gees, they were both great in their way! The Beatles influenced pop and rock music forever. If you hear the songs before and after they came around you'll find a great difference. The Bee Gees always said that the Beatles were a huge influence for them. Both Beatles and Bee Gees are extremely talented and great artists, that's the fact. As to one being better than the other that's according to each one's opinion. That's what I believe.

  • I love this cover!!!Bee Gees are not imitaters anymore then the beatles were fake chuck berry or buddy holly!!they learned from the masters just like the fab four!!!

  • @beatlestoneful Hey!! Thanks - you said it the best.

  • As a fan of the Brothers Gibb, I have a certain degree of disdain over the Beatles and some of its fans for dismissing them as either being Beatles imitators or being recognized as Disco Kings, which isn't true. The Brothers have a legacy that has spanned for 6 decades and the accolades they have received surely would put them up there as one (if not the greatest) groups of all time; I recognize this, but I hope those who are ignorant of their achievements should do the same as well. :)

  • @IbongAdonis And it's ok to like both too. Its not the Beatles' fault for some ignorant fans.

  • Awesome!

  • There are few bands that I would ever consider listening to for Beatle covers.

Bee Gee's are on that short list

  • @myrtlebox TOO right!! I love the beatles. And not many can do them justice. I never heard the Bee Gees do a Beatle cover badly, even when they were just 13. (please my video: please please me). And the best part of it all: The Bee Gees will be back! (Oh and the beatles never need to come back cos they never go away !) lol

  • @myrtlebox I can think of better covers just of this song alone. Shawn Colvin's cover is stunning if you can find it.

  • No-one should do Beatles covers EVER.

  • @MrJohndl amen! Except the Bee Gees :)

  • No-one should do Beatles covers EVER.

  • It sounded great on his voice.

  • They need to shut up.

  • @manningfan512 Well I love the Beatles and the Bee Gees. Is that too hard to fathom? I think whilst in the 60s the Beatles were brilliant, the Bee Gees gave us that same brilliance throughout the 70s, 80s, and 90s. They released one brilliant record after another in that period.

  • @manningfan512 Meaning????? (we're all trying to speak english haha)

  • the bee gees are best

  • @erickvanlobster2010 I would agree, cos it sounds so wrong to a lot of ppl. I think the Beatles were best from 62 to 68. Then when the Bee Gees did the Odessa album (the place I was born!) they were always best.

  • Was the rest of the song recorded?

  • does anybody know who has the most successful song catalogue of all time?... oh wait, the Bee Gees do

  • @rubs96 ... and the Beatles and Michael Jackson.

  • Comment removed

  • u go bee gees

  • In a way, it's too bad that the Bee Gees have always been compared to the Beatles.

  • @61dodgelancer - they haven't! Actually the only time they were really compared was on the release of New York Mining Disaster, the Sgt Pepper movie, and since the turn of the century.

  • @james1418 None is better. They are just who they are. Although... this song was written by the Beatles. I think what Beatles gave the world is modern pop music that was irresistible. It was clever and mystical, and always rewarding to listen. Bee Gees could create the perfect song in any period, that was their gift.

  • Bee Gees the beatles los 2 me encantan!

  • Actually John Lennon stated once in the interview that if the Bee Gees had been on the Beatles place they would have been the greatest band ever. But the Bee Gees emerged a little later. I mean in the global scale.

The Beatles music is for the masses. It is very energetic and attractive - but it's simplier than the Bee Gees one. Everyone has "Beatles Anthology" in his/her music archive. The Bee Gees are for people who have tried listening a lot of music "streams" and styles...

  • @vihryak WOW thank you! I would love the source of that interview. John Lennon is fascinating. Especially because he was always prepared to speak his mind on ANY topic. I would however disagree that the Beatles music is simpler. Their production is mind-boggling. And their song writing is so intruiging that just when u think you know a song you can learn so much more about it.

  • @vihryak

where dd John say that? All I heard John say is that the Bee Gees were the Beatles music redone.

  • @vihryak

you are one funny guy, or just stupid.

the beatles are so much more complicated than anybody gives them credit for, and compared to the beatles the bee gees are a little footnote in the book of music.

ask any serious musicologist or ccritic who influenced the music more, and lennon wouldn't have said that, or proof it.

  • There is no sense in comparing them. Of course, the Beatles were the most influential act ever. As they were the first, the first who turned the music into religion. It is like the first-mover advantage...

Thing that really distinct the Brothers Gibb from the Beatles and others is that

the Bee Gees had been changing all the time - no other top-performer or group tried so much in experimenting with own sound - and that's why they could score number ones in each of 5 decades

  • @vihryak Yes. That's exactly how I feel. Nobody had been so successful in tweaking their formula and experimenting with their own sound potential, over 5 decades. I doubt even the Beatles could have done that if they stayed together.

  • @ilsy74

    oh good, good joke

the beatles tuoched more musical genres in 7 years than any other band in 50.

  • @OropherThranduil I agree, I just love the bee gees, OK? I dont need no critic telling me who is better, unlike some robots

  • @OropherThranduil In 50 years Bee Gees did the following genres: Folk, Novelty, Mersey Beat, Jazz/Standards, Psychedelia, Rock, Country, Funk, Disco, New Wave, Dance, Electro pop. They also experimented with Middle Eastern scales, and Goth music on particular earlier tracks.

  • @ilsy74

oh wow, 14 in 50 years.

beatles got in 7 years, and think about them being first in many and influencing many of them, rock, pop rock, folk, folk rock, novelty, singalong, jazz waltz, soul, hard rock, heavy metal, soft rock, psych folk, country, country rock, blues, ska, baroque pop, alternative, doo-wop, music conqrete, avant-garde, surf rock, sunshine pop, music hall, jazz fusion, classical, circus music, experimental, symphonic rock, swamp rock, R'n'B and i guess even more than those.

  • @OropherThranduil we're talking about different things. bee Gees also included many different elements in their songs. But the fact is they wrote a number 1 country song. A number 1 Disco song. A number 1 80s pop song. A number 1 Blue-eyed soul song. On each of these they set a standard. islands in the stream blew the world of country music apart. To Love Somebody changed the entire direction of pop. Stayin Alive made disco in to a cultural and global phenomenon. Not overlooking the Beatles tho!

  • @ilsy74

well, stayin alive sure took disco out of the underground, but coutry and pop didn't need the bee gees to change.

nobody changed pop more than the beatles, just like rock, and the byrds created country rock after being the masters of folk rock.

but again the beatles did some country rock as early as 65.

  • @OropherThranduil Yes I love the Beatles doing country. Although i think it was more western, but still very very nice. I am not setting this up as Bealtes vs Bee Gees. They both have their place in music history. All I say is lets give bee gees some credit for staying power.

  • BeeGees invented soul? My god, what an idiotic remark. . .yes, they had genuine merit and were a fine bunch of vocalists in the 60s. I also enjoy their disco hits. But they were never a real band, face it. Celebrate their gifts, by all means, but please accept their limitations, which were enormous.

  • @Rabidburt BLUE EYED SOUL. I'm talking hte type sung by white singers. Before that there was a more rock edge type of soul, the likes of Elvis. Once the Bee Gees did the legendary Spicks & Specks album it paved the way for KC & the Sunshine Band, George Michael and later Justin Timberlake. Idiotic is someone who is clueless.

  • so true what you said...

  • AND...The Bee Gees were at the top of their game when they rode the disco fever wave and did a poor re-make of Sgt. Pepper in the 70's. The Beatles changed the course of musical history and were arguably the most influential force in popular music ever. If anything, the Bee Gees were more influenced by the great musical forces around them than they were influential themselves.

  • YOu obviously have not heard the Spicks and Specks album. Shame...

  • @gnukev STILL ... that's a bit like saying my dog is so stupid it only wins 1 in 10 games of CHESS. Btw. Bee Gees have outsold ALL the acts in history bar Garth Brooks, Beatles, Michal Jackson and Elvis. And Michael Jackson has said he was influenced by the Bee Gees.

  • @ilsy74 You respond to my comments as if they were a personal attack. I have merely stated my opinions about the BG's and this unimpressive video for the consideration of those who are interested. Musical history will show the BG's all but forgotten while the Beatles and Stevie Wonder will be remembered as extremely important to the evolution and development of 20th century music. However, I'm glad that you derive so much pleasure from the BG's.

  • @gnukev SOUL - yes. Justin Timberlake, George Michael and Beyonce have all paid their tributes, and so will Lady Gaga soon. Haven't you heard of Blue-eyed soul? Well the roots of this can be heard on the Spicks and Specks album, especially the song Monday's Rain. It is where white artists sing like black artists to white music. Like the Beatles, Who and Elvis, but more sweet rather than rock. Listen to the album b4 labelling Bee Gees has-beens, who have lasted 50 years.

  • @gnukev Hey I'm a big fan of the Beatles and Stevie Wonder. Comparing them to the Bee Gees is not necessary.

  • The Bee Gees were professional imitators but not very good at it. They even blew the words to this Beatles song on this TV show. I find their incesant piercing vocal falcetto particularly annoying. When they were finished imitating the Beatles, they attempted to imitate Stevie Wonder with their song "(J-J-J) Jive Talkin'", when Stevie was topping the charts. All the elements of "Livin' for the City" were there except any heart or soul.

  • YOu are NO expert on the Beatles or Stevie Wonder. Your Beatles bias is welcome, but not your disrespect for other Youtuber's and other tastes, who are here to enjoy a community sharing of different points of view. Bee Gees invented SOUL as far as White artists are concerned.

  • @ilsy74 Bee Gees-Soul? LOL!

  • @gnukev You're referring to Boogie On Reggae Woman. I still disagree that the Bee Gees IMITATED Stevie Wonder. They were masters at blue-eyed soul.

  • bee gees sound better because they are better!

  • well that is so right.

Beatles fans of course prefer the Beatles, and there is no right and wrong opinion.

  • @ilsy74 I like your words and thanks for the video :). Glad to found that every BeeGees fans is very wise person.

  • @coolmenthol Well thanks. Many Bee Gees fans love the Beatles too. Without the Beatles Bee Gees would sound probably more like Herman's Hermits.

  • Bee Gees SOUND 100000 TIMES BETTER beatles noob heads

  • And unlike the Beatles the Bee Gees keep coming back better and better than before. PLEASE DONT SUE ME MACCA

  • realy?!

  • looks like he's jacking off at 0:16

  • They sound exactly like the Beatles.

  • That is a compliment if i ever heard one.

  • To be fair, the Bee Gees were brothers and people in the same immediate family especially siblings around the same age are amazing in harmonizing. Their voices are usually genetically so close together in sound that when they sing together, it's like the same voice singing the different parts. And to harmonize, you want to get the same tone and it is easier to do when each person basically has the same voice.

  • Excuse me, have Barry and Robin the same voice? is not hard sound better than The Beatles, they not were good singers, they were very good composers. Beatles ussually sang with 3 part hamonies and Bee Gees love this way to sing, Barry and Robin never sing the same part in their songs, thats why they harmonize, and they did it better than any other group of composers i have heard.

  • Beegees sound better ;)

  • Beatles sound better.

  • The Bee Gees have better harmonies, even at 13.

  • great memorabilia !!

    Great rendition !!

  • it's a nice song . great video .thanks for sharing

  • Beautiful rendition from the Bee Gees.. I think that sounds better than the Beatles, actually a lot of their remakes of the Beatles songs sounded better than the Beatles. Thanks for sharing!

  • will never forGHT when murray the k introduced a new mystery group that everyone thouGHT was the beatles. ny mining disaster by the "beagees" sounded like it was a tease for a new beatles song.

  • lmao, bee gees sound better than the beatles. I smell lots of bullshit.

  • I agree 100%

I love how Peter Frampton and the Bee Gees did srg peppers. Fantastic :)

  • LOVE SO MUCH!!! TANKSSS
