I'm not Chinese, at all, to my knowledge, but I appreciate your stance! There is a difference in the experiences and expectations that people have or adopt, and are born into that can separate them, influence them or alter them from that generally found near their "genetic origins". It's a huge deal. And it is VERY respectful to be aware of these differences.
honestly i ask questions like where are you from not because i think you are actually from somewhere else but i like to take interest in where your family is from i love to know people's ethnicity and i think its one of the best things about the united states is you are able to live with people from all around the world and i feel that all cultures have something to offer to all the others.

8 isn't exactly her middle name. I'm not sure what the story behind it is, since my parents never actually explained it to me. But 8 is supposed to be a number that stands for good luck. Kind of like how Americans inexplicably think 7 is good luck and why my office building doesn't have a Floor 13.
