TEMPORARILY HUMBOLDT COUNTY is the history of America from our point of view--after all, with global warming and wars and all, who knows the next occupant of "Humboldt County"? And what dance will they make the white man do LOL?? To Serve Man?
Hmmm... this is NOT the title recording from "Waiting for the Electrician" The real title cut is much funnier and has to do with the settlement of America from the time of the Spanish Conquistadors to present day America. Sorry, but this YouTube recording is misleading.
I suppose that I have memorized many FT skits. However, this is the one I concentrated on. The shifting environments and references are outstanding. In addition, their ability to play with the language is amazing...take the elevator scene. Amazing stuff...thanks.
Thank you Ardunio1 for sharing this! It was great recreation for intelligent kids growing up in the 70's. The elevator scene is particularly captivating as it explores linguistics, (French, Russian, English) and mathematics. lol "You don't want to count the elevator boy?" Of course, FST was and are a brilliant troupe of creative individuals. They even predicted the UK elections. "A future fair. A fair for all, but no fair to anyone." circa 1973 ... (I think)
This "age of vinyl" was also the age the Cold War, spy shows on T.V. and a vague sense that the curtain of lies in our society was being drawn away and that "revolution" was at hand. Minds were easily expanding without drugs because they had been so closed for so long.
Of course, we got over all that and created Disco.
It's funny to anyone who has done much international travel - check out BEAT THE REAPER. This comes after all from the age of vinyl... I came looking for the Firesign Theater version of American History or How the Native Americans waited for the true white brother to return from the East...
@Nydgill Did then ... but don't now. I guess it's less funny when it seems much like the world in which we actually function. This was made 40 years ago.

...pick out any idea. Compare ideas, with the one idea left, you have no doubt and without a doubt we have ENTHUSIASM!
I listened to FST throughout my formative years, which no doubt explains a lot.

So now the question must be asked.
Can the UK elections be blamed on drugs?
