As I said elsewhere, Margaret Price was not merely the "other" Price, second to Leontyne. She was a great artist in her own right and excelled particularly in Mozart but also in the operas and lieder of other composers. A very stylish singer with a lovely voice and excellent technique, she will be sorely missed. Thanks, Mike, for this moving tribute.
NOt only was she exemplary in Mozart ans Strauss repertoire but in lieder esp Schubert and Schumann she had few equals. And of course there is the the recorded Isolde. Great great singer with a beautiful pure voice and amazing techniquw. The world has lost yet another operatic pearl!
One of the most stylish sopranos out there, mostly celebrated for her Mozart and Strauss roles, but very effective in the Italian/Verdian rep too. Her passing saddens me, as does the fact that she seemed to vanish from the international scene when she was at the height of her powers.
A beautiful choice for a memorial for a beautiful singer! I'll miss her deeply
