  • steve meade is such a boss... keep up the good work. your an inspiration to anyone with aftermarket audio. No one beats your attention to detail Steve, keep it goin....

  • I reckon if any little wire problem happends on your car man its gunna be like............................................BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!! even louder then thouse 4 18s put together!!

  • 3:23 sounds like your having a wank

  • I have been wanting to Mac Mini my customized Astro van for awhile, is your mini running Windows Or OSx ? I will be watching your videos with great interest!

  • Just buy a 20 dollar power inverter and plug it in?

  • why would u bother>??

  • @thexXCODXx who are you talking to? bother with what?

  • hey how do u get the screen to work with a mac mini

  • this is so badass!! too bad i dont have money to blow like this man, im stuck with a crappy jensen uv8 7, i got it running with a jailbroken itouch, using mxtube, so i can download youtube videos and play them instead of using regular music files.

good work steve, i love checking these projectors out.

  • hey meade916, what is that device you're using to power your carnetix? a AC DC power converter? if so, what model/make?

  • it's good to see someone doing something for themselves instead of sending it to a shop. just a heads up, they make wire harness tape that would be better then using electrical tape. keep up the great work and also liking the good safe work habits as well

  • steve, if you knew that the ipad was gonna come out wouldnt you have used that instead? or is the mac mini still better?

  • now you can by the mac mini to regulator power cable at carnetix.com

  • Awww it not snow leopard its fukin windows 7

  • first of all I love your designs and I watch this shit all the time at work (I'm a Nissan salesman and I really don't have that much to do). If you want to run a true dual boot instead of an emulated Windows 7 like you have then look into a program called bootcamp. Just another option for you if you decide to go that route but you will have to partition the hard drive. Anyways keep up the good work, I would love to have the skills you have.

  • @MWNinjas u are a faggot why buy a mac if u put windows on it if u want to use windows buy a fuckin netbook

  • Steve is there an electrical schematic of this on your website?

  • He's using Bootcamp/Parallels/VM Fusion/SUN to run Windows

  • Are you using Boot Camp or Parallels to run both OSX and Windows 7?

  • too bad it is windows mchine look carefully

  • you are a dumbass.

  • @ktechreviews i think meade916 could take your ass id shut the hell up

  • @ktechreviews besides thats not what hes putting the mini into! hes doing something to it using the windows

  • @ktechreviews he probably didn't mean to boot into windows. it just happened automatically

  • @ktechreviews Totally a Mac Mini running Mac OS X with Windows 7. Douche.

  • ur video ends at 4:20 lol

  • sick statue of liberty tat

  • so you just removed the AC to DC power supply and put on a DC to DC instead?

  • did u need any special software fo rthe touchscreen to mac in order to be able to use it easily?

  • the screen comes with it :)

  • wow, thats awesome, worth looking into.

which website(a partner site?) would you reccommend for this? im lookin at gettin a hu pretty soon and was initially interested in the jvc nx7000 and kenwood ddx714, but i think this seems the way to go considering all the possibilities and ease to navigate(on a computer vs a new hu)

thanks for the quick reply tho

  • ok, i was lookin at like a 7-8" but then thought about the benefit of a bigger screen(ease of "touching" as in clicking, etc), how does the 10in work for u in size?(lol that doesnt sound right(

  • steve when are you comin down to orlando

I wanna hear dat tahoe so badly

Lots of respect keep it up

  • dude good job on this Tahoe if your ever coming to Canada hook me up i would like to here it ... theirs a difference between a video and real life sound

  • so, does this thing have a solid state drive? i mean vibrations are bad for hard drives. wouldn't want the heads bouncing around scratching the players up.

  • Pt2 Use a double din in the lower portion of your center console cause the regular sound and interface sometimes develops noise and need more signal boost but through a radio it is waaaaay better as a aux/ipod type thing.

  • Steve I did this mod several time in my Bon Vivant Motoring in Atlanta. The pitfall is you have to make sure that the power supply never has a volt drop and the front page is the best look for looking at it. We use the Polaroid 15" 1080p in the dash of Tahoes loosin one vent but totally flat. Currently the hot thing is hte Media center with HDMI and it plays with any format of material easyier for my clients and minimal issues.

  • just a quick question, if the power button is on the back of the mac after that is in the dash how are you going to turn it on?

  • Comment removed

  • Wow i read over that and sounded like an ass i didn't mean to i was just curious about how it is going to work

  • Nice Job Steve Ever think of Coming to Columbus,Ohio Would love to hear the Tahoe

  • good job, puttin PC on a mac 6 starrs

  • I had the same idea before u posted this up to use a mac mini I guess great minds think alike but obviously your alot smarter than me cuase i still dont understand why you changed the power supply , couldnt you just use a power inverter but you might be thinking different than me and you have been doing it alot longer let me know man im curious. P.S. your my inspiration to keep hooking up my explorer thanks for all the step by step fiberglass videos to that helped me alot. =-}

  • Maybe he did win he lottery

  • paul, unless the man is spending YOUR money don't make any negative comments. being unique is seldom cheap or easy, it requires work, dedication, and intelligence. props to steve for all his hard work. u are the man and we all could learn from you!

  • thanks man!!! :)

  • ahhhh man you didnt have to do dat to them

    you killin em out hure

  • thats sweet dude

  • Waste of money

  • when u are broke, everything is a waste of money LOL

  • hey paul

be paul, and dont say anything

    or stay out of this

    either way

  • Nice job Meade, you da man!

  • No, the Mac Mini was $800.

  • otherwise, it would be one hella expensive transformer

  • just cut!

  • not necessarily do or die haha you can always buy a new cable hahaha

  • i saw his son in the background, it wasnt his son video taping

  • hey a got anthoer questiong howd u get windows 7 on the thing bro? nd like where u find those little power converter thing u put to the wire for the mac mini? my bad it that sounds all messed up im tired as shit

  • nice man good idea with the mac! For the pc user who doesn't know anything about a mac, it will crush a pc any day! I could go into detail but not the place!

  • HAHA! You're fucking HILARIOUS.

    Fuck that.

    I7 > Mac.

  • The I7 was first in Macs. Sorry to be a kill joy. Keep it going Steve, rounding out very nice.

  • Haha you're hilarious..

    Nope.

    Mac sucks anyway.

  • not really they both have pretty bad flaws mac's are just a lil safer in terms of there's not alot of viruse's made for them Windows just has majority I personally like windows because its easier to make your own computer and have windows on it than mac

  • I agree with both have flaws but mac doesn't have nearly as many as windows not to mention memory and CPU usage! not to mention mac is based on one of the most reliable OSes FreeBSD... once again for those who don't know anything about mac just about anything you see on TV was done with a mac let alone 99% of magazines and videos/movies... my mac cost $330 ?!custom!?

  • is that a new tat?

  • who steve? hes replied to me every time ive asked him anything

  • i bet the inside of his house is like the ultimate bachelor pad. I bet its SICK!! nice vid bro

  • steve can you please post a vid of you playing the song " break up " by mario ft gucci mane and rick ross. this song absolutely stomps!

  • is the mac going to be accessible once it's installed? CD-slot wise. it would be cool to have the slot correspond to a spot under the screen. im assuming you are going to delete the head unit all together correct

  • @morgaman77 nope in video 39 he mentioned still using a deck pioneer premier to be exact

  • cant wait to see u mold it man

  • i was wondering where you got your 18ins i havent seen them anywhere i have looked every where did you custom make them if so how much

  • How is it running windows AND mac???

  • Comment removed

  • cos os leaord comes wit boot camp or some sorta programme like that enables you to use any os on a mac

  • Use boot camp.

  • Do you use a seperate battery for that? I know you're running enough power in the hoe.

  • wow i would be so nerves cutting that up lol

  • so how do you know what wires to add where??

i don't do much splicing and sauntering of cables..or much electrical work for that..

  • tube shrink my favorite

  • street motivated devastation? i always thought it ment steve meade designs

  • its both.

    :P

  • i like

  • Hey Steve might I ask what soldering iron you used and the price? It is any good?

  • CAN I GET AN AMEN???

  • puta que tremendo trabajo!!

  • so who records all of this while you explain it... your wife?gf?

  • His son

  • clean shit steve...

  • do i hear, WARNTY VOID?

  • really dont think he cares

  • if it breaks.....throw it in tha gutta, and go get anotha'....im not trippen. LOL

  • yep, you rock steve!

  • Steve meade your doin it, and a mac is the only thing you needed.

  • bro dont u think 18.5 volts is a little much, i mean normal is between 12-16volts

  • i envy you steve lol

  • 18 volts thats weird

  • LOAD WIN 7 ON THAT BAD BOY

  • @DetroitPC313 that is really stupid man.

  • He DID you dumbass troller...

  • o did he

  • @DetroitPC313 he already has u fucking retard

  • Good i think he well enjoy 7 better

  • it came wit 7 on it ANd mac.cuz its cool like that.

  • WOW very impressive

  • y did u put windows in there?

  • it already had it.

  • really clever, great job

  • well you must have done some right

you never let the smoke out LOL

  • That thing better have an ssd hard drive or that hard drive is gonna go bad fast

  • trop fort steve!!!

  • Net sa claque ! en plus avec Windows 7 sur le mac ! Great Job Steve

  • Have you installed windows 7 on the mac mini XD lol

  • mac mini hahahahahaa I LOSE hahaha midget mac is better hahaha

  • did you make it end at 4:20 intentionally ?

  • APPLE IS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR ME

  • macs suck...hopefully that thing rattles apart from tha baaassssss!

  • You could have gotten the same specs cheaper by going for another PC.

  • I agree. you need to open a custom car and cycle shop and im not talking bout triple cheese... lmao but yea you do so i can bring my tarus there and trick it out

  • Seriously bro, you need to open your own shop!

  • haha steve!, you keep suprising us!

    Keep it comin bro

  • theyve just released a new mac mini! :D

steve meade, you are now my hero...... but get the fooking windows off that mac! :O

  • i coulda sworn mac stopped making the minis?...due to lack of sale i think. theyre a pretty neat idea though

  • well one could understand why the mac's arent selling as good...

cause the uses and capabilities of a mac doesnt come close to a pc :O

allthough at the things the macs have came to focus on it tends to beat the pcs :D

  • wtf...macs can RUN WINDOWS first of all..they can even run both operating systems at the SAME TIME. they definately come close to beating pcs...in fact they EXCEED their capabilities. Thats a fact not an opinion.

  • me don't get it mac mini with windows 7? Ö..

  • And an alienware mouse... DULL!

  • steve your videos are the best...!! great work... can't wait to see the final thing!! :-)

  • MACS ARE FUCKING GAY but it should be awesome for what steve is trying to do it will look sleek and nice in his dash and he isnt going to need a great deal of computer processing power as he will be using it for music and navigation his not going to be gaming or anything on a 10" touch screen so all the haters should STFU steve knows what his doing the only thing i dont like is he will have to wait for the pc to boot up before listening to music :(

  • hes still gonna have a headunit i think

  • he is,but jus 4 vol.

  • im surprised that it seems to be that simple

is it really that simple because i allways thaught it was alot harder but then again im a beginner in the ICE world

  • gonna be fucking awesome steve

  • I agree.... I have 7 Car PC units in my car and I would never use Apple. There are barely any features on apple for car use. With my setup I have GPS, internet, OBD2 and sh!t loads of other stuff a mac mini cant do. You made a big mistake going that route. You really did waste 800.00. You could have got a windows based system that 300 times more powerful and still have about 300.00 left over.

  • its not like hes going to play crysis in his car, he doesnt need that much computer power. plus the apple is small and looks real nice

  • loose osx use win7 bootcamp vmware is gonna make it slow

  • damn man!!!

    fucking genius!!

  • I can see it now "MAC KILLS TAHOE" on the smd home page lol silly mac

  • Whats wrong with macs?:P

  • Yea that's what I'm wandering too :?

  • their ok computers, but their too damn expensive.

  • yea they are i got a mac book pro. with the smallest monitro you can get and it cost me over 2 grand. LOL but... i only got it for school purposes so yea.

  • it is converter and regulator..

  • 4:20, Yeeeaaahhhhhhhhh!!!

  • lol mac mini running windows 7. You using bootcamp?

  • awesome... a couple days before you posted this on SMD i stole my buddies mac mini and found it fits perfectly in my glove box... if i buy the carnetix 2140 is the wiring self explanatory? or did you have to select certain wires...

  • dont get mad when sum1 breaks into ur truck man...its gonna happen..u stole so no your a carma target lol..Goodluck

  • well borrowed it... he has it back smart ass...i had made a mount to hold a external hard drive and the mac mini fits in it perfectly...

oh and its karma not carma...

  • its simple as to wire it up just match the colors mate

  • thanks colin .... im ordering the carnetix monday...

i love how some people cant read and take things out of context LOL

  • Comment removed

  • i dont think that a mac mini can drain 10 batterys

  • You're basically driving a power plant. Haha, Awesome work mate.

  • i meant dc to ac lol

  • aWesUm !

  • couldnt u have just gone with an ac to dc converter?

  • ouch

  • poor mac mini plug

  • for the firt time i hear steve say oh oh

  • SUPER COOL!!!!!!

  • i laughed pretty hard when you said 'drain the battery's out'

  • Looks like the same soldering iron as mine.

  • i am still lost...isnt the bass gonna mess up hard drive?

  • naw that apple has a ssd and a hdd , the ssd can take that punishment!! np

  • Why didnt use a 12v to 110 power inverter instead of cuting the wires and making your own power supply?

  • So he doesn't need to find a place to put the big brick somewhere, it just takes too much room. It's not needed since that power brick supplys 18volts to the computer anyways.

  • he still has to find a place for the box he is using so why cut wire when you could leave it alone and use it later if he ever wants to take it out!

  • He doesn't need the mac mini to be portable so its not going to be taken out. It seems like steve is trying to make it a permanent deal. he cut the wires to save room. He chose the much smaller regulator than the big brick. i would go smaller since the mini is always going to be plugged in and mounted forever.

  • Funny how dumbasses on here try to say shit aint gon work bah blah this fool steve know what he doin so save ur advice for the ametures

  • C'mon bro. were talking about STEVE MEADE here have you not seen this build from scratch. I think he can afford a premium Solid State Drive lmaoo no offense tho plus that was pretty good advice iCamMo

  • SCK

  • i still dont get how ur gonna avoid the vibrations to get to the mac mini its gonna mess up in a matter of days if u dont put anything around it or idk how u are gonna do it...

  • you need a SSD, otherwise bumpin that bass will cause your HD to shake and the platters might scrape each other. then bye bye mac mini

  • He wont be able to store all his tunes on an SSD unfortunately, unless he shells out a premium

  • @ndawgtkd

well yeah, depends on the quality of his songs, how many songs, and ultimately how much space it takes up. and i think he will shell out a premium...i mean have you seen his vids?...when does he not go big?

but like 600 for a 256 gb ssd is still steep, but better than shelling out 100 for a terabyte that might fail catastrophically

  • dude look at what his already purchased he could afford a 256GB ssd no problems and 256gb = shitloads of music more music then he probally has

  • yeah, he should be able to afford it no problem...considering all the stuff he's done to his truck

and yeah...256gb is probably more music than he has, but you never know...meades been around for a while, like 20+ years in the car audio game alone (i think he said 20+ years in a previous video). I mean i have 35k songs, and that is 218gb

  • @iCamMo lol either u spent a ton of money or a lot of pirating :p jhahaha jk

  • haha

to matrix my way out of that bullet...lets just say i was lying...

    =)

  • u must listen to everything, even the shitty stuff huh

  • well shitty is subjective

but i dont listen to things that i dont like
