The consummate professional -- his beloved first wife died during the early stages of filming 'Daddy Long Legs'. He offered to withdraw and pay the producers the full production costs. He later reconsidered and DLL ended up being one of his personal favorites.
Fred was an absolute genius... I bet the kids in our school band can't do that! Or anyone else I know! Fred always leaves me smiling in this movie; by the way, someone with the username Fallingrain123 uploaded this film on here. Last time I checked, all the parts were there. Go Fred!
I happened to catch this show by mistake at 3 am one morning while unable to sleep, it was dvr'ing I rewound the whole thing and watched again, when I first turned tv on, that same scene played I was so impressed i rewound " daddy long legs" and the entire movie was better than most of the ones out today, it's part musical, but the ( musical ) scenes are him dancing so it's amazing to see someone his age move better than I could at 20.
Better than anything special effects can do.

The way he bounces and catches the drumsticks all over the place, as if it were the most natural thing in the world... so energetic, so amazing.

hey! he's holding brushes in the beginning... and then they turned into sticks! bad editing!

yeah he'd done some other drumming with the brushes but they cut it out coz they wanted to get him onto the dancing quicker.
