I would be careful that you don't "swallow" your vowels. Really try to keep a forward placement with them. You have a nice dark, rich tone but it's almost muffled in some parts (could be the recording too)
Great! Dorothea, thank you so much for posting this lovely aria, you sang it supreme! :-) I'm now in phase of studying this aria, because my voice teacher wants to see how I sing in mezzo, because she can't define am I now mezzo or dramatic soprano. Let's see how it develops. All the best, Jelena
I'm so glad you sang the recit. I have to learn it and I wanted to listen to it to get a better idea of how it ought to sound. This is the first clip I've found that didn't just jump straight into the aria. And you have a very nice voice. =)
An excerpt like this air from Gluck's pen is not a commonality to the average man on the street- this music is very sophisticated even if its 250 years old give or take a century- and if I listen to this rendition 100 times I'll discover new things- in the music itself and the artist rendering the werke- a pop tune offers the past window whereas a old tune such as this previews a new world- opens a vista to tomorrow, so what is past is prologue and what is now is yesterday's paper-well sung DF-
Just beautiful: as always, I like your pausing, the intensity of feelings! I wish I were there (in Berlin, not in the Hell)to share a bit of Paradiso with the red dress...
Was not familiar with the Recit for this wonderful aria, enjoyed it and very much enjoyed your singing of the ever-gorgeous "Che Faro Senza Euridice" along with JENS' accompaniment.

Thanks for singing the recit. This is, like, the only recording here with the recit. Isn't it?

It's a real a pleasure hearing Gluck sung so beautifully and intelligently. In fact, it's rather magical.
