Sara is varient of Sarah, means princess, and it's important to me because it's beautiful, and pronounciation 'SAHra' is nice. Marlene sounds very beautiful, and it's Germanic, means Child of light. And Jessica is a beautiful name also, it is Hebrew and means God's Grace=)
Isolde or Isolda which means "beautuful, fair" (celtic)
Meghan which means "pearl" (celtic)
or my great great great grandmothers name Shayleigh which means "fairy Princess" She lived in Ireland her whole life and moved to Scotland to get married to my great great great grandfather. My dad and I went over our whole family tree a couple months ago.
I went to school with a girl named Meran, which is a Scottish name (she has Scottish heritage).
It's pronounced mer-AN, Mer- like her, -an like Anne.
There's also Fiona, Guenevere, Gwenevere, Gwyneth, Gwynedd(hard spelling and Welsh, but... sounds like Gwyneth), ANY form of Catlin, SaraBeth, AnnaBeth(Beth sounds very Scottish to me for some reason).
There's also Scottish surnames, like McKenzie, McAfee (my aunt's middle name)
GOOD LUCK WITH THE BABY GIRL!! Hope I'm not too late! :)
you should name your daughter something uneik like samantha or nelly or rachel hahah jking about rachel, but something she wont want to change later on like gigi or kayla
Maybe you could try some Russian derivative of "George." *shrug* (haha Dylan)
Molly, Nessie, Abigail, Bonnie, Forba, Ellen, Cassidy, Dara, Eileen, Kyna, Mona, Muriel. These are just a few suggestions. The meanings are cool to any of them from Cassidy onward. I don't know about the others.. I'm sure they've got cool meanings, too. Oh, and Derek suggested Forba. (I don't think he was serious.)
I'm beginning to notice that! After looking through a number of baby name databases online, I've discovered alot of names that I had no idea were Scottish/Celtic in origin... Thanks for your suggestions! Lara and Lindsay have my vote, but it all goes to 'the boss' (my wife). lol
Hi Adam, Ryan here. I work with newborns and their parents all day. I come across too many baby names! Here are my suggestions: Theory, Rose, Ruby, Lucy, Zoey, Violet. There is always Leslie. Also, the name Bea. Which is the prefix for Beautiful. Just a thought. Hope you pick a really good one ;) No middle first names or middle middle names, please. Just remember to KISS. ;)
Nice suggestions! I particularly like Theory.... Not necessarily celtic in nature but has a nice sound to it. Wonder how long it would be until kids started calling her "Hypothesis"? lol Thanks for the suggestions and the subscription! :)
Brigid - exalted or lofty (significant to me because of the book "Purple, Green and Yellow" in which the little girl, Brigid, draws on herself with markers and turns invisible. It scares the crap out of kindergarteners.)
Fallon - of a ruling family
Katie - pure (obvious reasons ;) )
Quinn - descendent of Conn (weird meaning but sounds pretty)
Taryn - which is just a name of one of my students. I thought it was unique yet easy to spell...not really Celtic though.
Ooh! Taryn!... That one's definitely in the running! And as far as its origin, I did a search in google and it seems that it's got meanings in about 12 different languages (including Scots/Gaelic)... So, good choice! :)
Quinn is not often heard either.... Of course, all these pass through Leslie first. I think it's only fair she should have some leverage in the naming process after, ya know giving BIRTH to her and all! lol Thanks for these, Katie!
even though yuo proboblie already had your baby i really like the name beth or annabeth that way your child will have to nick name anna or beth hahahah think aboout it its a cute name especiallie if shes a lefty like me leftys rule

Lara, Erin, Lindsay, Caitlin
A lot of popular names are actually Scottish/Celtic, but they are so common they can get thought of as Anglo-Saxon
Good luck
P.S you could go the braveheart route and have Mirren :)
