@AndyaOliver1987 Were you forced to watch this video? Exactly. Typical American mentality, if ain't in English or doesn't have massive robot fights it's shite. This film is hardly overrated in the States(or known to the American public for that matter), I suspect subtitles may have scared some away too. Del Toro, the crew, and cast get the praise they deserve. No doubt better than the rubbish remakes, sequels, 3D, and Foreign-to-American remakes of Hollywood these days.
The movie was less satisfying than a dead baby joke. A biblical allegory that's overused and lacks creativity. It fails in getting its message across even though its spelled out for you on the screen. Intellectually simple and predictable. The visuals are no where close to being a saving grace. Thats like going to a beethoven concert and saying you liked the conductor's tuxedo. Horrible movie would rather have cancer than see it again.
A fantastic and eerie fairy tale that speaks on the grey areas of good and evil that exists in the human condition. A masterpiece thats not to be missed.
