  • please dont say bad stuff but that is a camera error

  • @richard47483 You sir, are correct. You win! A thumbs up :D

  • I remember that storm. R u on the northside? There were some CRAZY ass storms here this summer!!

  • @NiteOwl1224 Yeah this was in the Castle Downs area. I'm in BC now but my sis lives in Leduc, so I heard that exactly 2 years later (July 18, 2011) there was another wind/lightning storm like this!! Only this time it happened early in the morning, and might have even been crazier than the storm in the video

  • Ok, not fake, but not real either, hummm, ok you got me there! What is it then? A waste of my time perhaps? You owe me a dollar for wasting my valuable time LOL.

  • Wow, should have watched the entire video before I went into after effects (Photoshop) and went frame by frame..

  • pause on the lightning. you have to time it perfectly on 21, but you can see its 100% Fake

  • Nice capture, but even tho looks fake, think the bolt is ghost reflection or something.

  • LOL!! Video footage doesnt LIE :)

  • @sxychiklet If I were to fake this, I'd make it look 100 times better :P

  • @darrenvh LOL!

  • what was this homo music

  • THIS IS REAL SHUT UP ABOUT FAKENESS

  • I meant louder, not larger

  • FAKE! Just after it ''touches'' the ground u can see that the lightning was far far away. And it had ben much larger

  • @darrenvh ?

  • if u pause it at 22 seconds u can see it touching the ground but u have to pause REALLY QUICK

  • Nice song and AWESOME =) and totally not photo shopped

  • What a fag

  • The exposure was messed up, the strike appears fake. It's real however not as close as it appeared. around 1/4 to 1/2 mile away it seems, which is still fairly close but not the lies the video camera projects.

  • @PositivelyBored Yeah! The camera's the one that lied, not me!

  • ITS NOT FAKE! Too bad my mom didn't have a camera at home I was at captial ex she said it was like a little show in the sky

  • ok i'm getting fuck out here :D

  • wow thats not fake at all, it hits the truck across the street, i study videos before i comment on them, and you can see 2 small forks hit the truck, good video faved, and keep filming your good at it

  • God was not amused

  • It mustve been 1056 ft if it was one sec. WHAT IS THAT SONG? I KNW ITS BY LINKIN PARK BUT..is it Across this New Divide?

  • so fucking fake

  • THATS WHERE I LIVE :D and it was real i was there....it was so close to my house :O

  • fake

  • what did you say? "ok i'm getting fuck out here" ???

  • fake son of a fucking bitch

  • To all you who don't think it's a fake:

    IT'S A FAKE!

  • fake, but nice try

  • Bad fake... :(

  • fake look at the line were it stops

  • @samqwer1234 WOWWW good observation!!!!!

    ¬_¬

  • @samqwer1234 I have been taking lightning photos since 2009, my camera does the same thing. Sometimes cameras are stupid when it comes to the return stroke, just fyi. Many lightning experts like me always have the problems with return stroke on our photos. I am not trying to be rude, just trying to better explain why this is. Have a nice day and everyone reading this have an ice day to.

  • @JWWAStockFootage Well at least someone on here isn't stupid as fuck! Lol it amuses me how much a lame video like this can be commented on and argued over though :)

  • @darrenvh Some people have nothing better to do when they are not playing World of Warcraft lol xD

  • @JWWAStockFootage Lmao, or more likely Runescapers

  • FAKE so edited

  • @CRWoroschuk It did seem to light up the houses... fake or not, looks pretty convincing.

  • where was that?

  • wow thats close

  • Umm how did you get that on tape? do you really not have a life and all you do is go outside and tape lightin? Really?

  • @monkeypower104 shut tha fuk up man u fukin watched tha video so shut ya mouth n anyway its fukin amazin to see a strike so close dik head

  • Nice video,

The close strike is actually a camera illusion from a combination of lens reflection and interlace video recording, it is so bright that the half frame records the upper part of the strike (out of camera view) and exposes it on the bottom half of the other frame. If you look at frame one, you can see the cloud base which is not viewable from this angle.

Many people think this a step leader, they are different. Still this is really good footage:-)

    Nice work!

  • fake

  • Awesome!

  • And now were getting this kinda weather.

  • @COMMYCABOOSE I thought hurricane season was over!?!?!

  • @darrenvh

    its over in november!

  • @wiiluigi1998 I know. It pretty much just started.

  • YOUR LUCKY MAN REALLY LUCKY IVE SEEN LIGHTING HIT 70FT AWAY AND DROP CROWDS LOL

  • if it was that close the sound would have been at the exact same time

  • @NIN1024 light energy travels faster than sound energy.

  • @gfdkgkj

i know that but if the lightning strikes that close than it would sound almost instantly

  • @NIN1024 Clearly you can see the lightning struck somewhere up to half a kilometre away, but IF it did hit the ground in front of me, then yes, it would have been much louder/sooner, plus you would see red and orange at the bottom of the bolt.

I'm just going to assume that the current flowed through that truck, and was grounded by it, therefore no damage was dealt! lol

  • @darrenvh Very close indeed, i bet ur heart was pumping fast :P

  • Great vid, ghay music

  • YEAA Sherwood Park FTW

  • Fake! Watch the strike (by moving the ball-cursor on the video) then you see the real strike. Great storm BTW. I'm in Sh Pk too, also filmed it. Check out my (unmodified) vid!

  • lol it's actually not fake! I think the camera I used just had some kind of glare effect making it look closer than it actually was. Not sure but it might've been that close though, and I didn't add anything other than the music and subtitles.

  • dude its real i live in edmonton and i was scared shit less

a tree that is fucking like 20 feet tall fucking fell over just from the wind and its like 3 feet thick

  • @lugial definitely not fake, i've caught shit like this on my camera too and it makes it look like the lightning is striking right infront of you. And actually, that arm of the strike may actually have been right infront of him, but didn't touch the ground.

  • fuk that i would leave 2 ,thnx 4 sharing

  • I was in Vancouver during the big storm; I was walking around outside looking at the pissed off looking clouds and lightning shooting all over the sky- this big bolt shot out in front of me, just like in the video, and it scared the SHIT out of me. I thought it hit a building a few blocks away, but the excessive light from it made it look like it was coming right at me. I ran like hell, thinking I was about to get hit :P

  • uuh okay i'm going the hell out of here hahahahah cool video

  • ah that's a cool strike! 5*

  • ur lucky that part of the lightning didn't make it to the ground. jajaja..

  • That definitely struck on the other side of that house that is in the background behind the truck...still, close enough make your hair stand up a bit.

  • what area is that? i live around there

  • it's kinda around Sherwood Park, north side of 115 St

  • awesomeeee(: haha

  • 50 feet away would have been instant thunder right on top of the lightning bolt. That was at least a good hundred yards away. You're just seeing the lens reflection of the bolt, which makes it appear closer.

  • alright, just saw a massive strike followed by a loud clap of thunder!! GOD I LOVE THUNDERSTORMS!!

  • scary!! :(

  • That happend to me twice before! what the hell was up with that i expected a loud boom at that second i saw that?!?

  • Comment removed

  • I wish I would have been around to witness the last crazy storm you guys had but I had just left back for BC the day before

  • Wow my friends lives near that area so DAMN! that's freaky!

  • lol i'm just waiting for the person who owns that truck to see this :P

  • dude, that was not photoshopped, that was real, shit dude!

  • haha! i seriously though there'd be alot more people like wtf! fake! lame! and shit... haters!!

  • shit, cant you set a rod in a field to attract electricity instead of your house?

  • lolol apparently the lightning likes that truck more than anything else 0_o

  • any of you ever heard of after effects wow its obviously phtoshopped

  • hahaha! well if i used a video cam i would've had a better frame-rate so you could see more than just 2 images of the actual bolts. Plus if it was fake I would've tried to make it look cooler than this :P

  • light travels faster than sound so its always the lightning strike, followed by thunder. Great capture!! wish i could capture something like that!

  • thanks. And no waiiii! i thought sound travels faster than light!! :P

  • holy shizz thats kinda sweet!

  • except that i need a new pair of pants

  • lol

  • Holy SHIT! that was flippin close yo. It was prolly delayed mayb bc it something that wasn't grounded I dunno jus a guess But, still scary shit!

  • ahaha! and I know the loser who stood that close! :P <3 I'm glad you're safe!

  • umm.. thanks :P

  • lol on my b-day!

  • woah,BOOOOOOMMM!

okay,im gettin the fuck outta here

  • Well, the storm was still extreme and intense all across the Edmonton region and much of central Alberta!! Some of my neighbours were away at the lake near Athabasca and they told me that the thunder up there was keeping them awake all night while camping! Awesome capture of that close lightning bolt!!

  • That storm was insanely intense! My neighbour's trees were snapped like matches right in front of me! I didn't get a lightning strike that close from the storm, but I still captured tons of incessant lightning strikes on video! What part of the city was that in? It was very intense in the west end!!

  • Crazy, i didn't get wind that bad though where i am. This is kinda East of St. Albert, so NW Edmonton

  • wow man, thats pretty crazy,, "ok im gettin the fuck out of hear" =p

that was the craziest night of my life

  • lol :P i don't think i've ever seen lightning as constant as that night, but I have seen worse winds. Still really strong though.

  • Well I seen more frequent lightning then that in 2004 on July 15th during a very powerful Tornadic supercell here in Edmonton!

  • That was awesome! That was REALLY close.

  • OMG woah

  • wow...that was close...I was filming when that huge gust of wind hit...me and my dad got pelted with dirt...I got it in my face eyes and mouth because my dad ducked behind the cars but I just stayed put like an idiot lol.

  • haha scrumptious! i think after all that wind the flower pots at my house are now dead :P

  • holy fuck darren! that wasn't even bad, don't you remember when five different car alarms went off from the thunder?

  • A bunch of car alarms already went off like half an hour before this strike

  • lmfao omg i was on the computer and like all i hear is car alarams go off around were i live lol it was funny

  • haha yeah here too. where was that? my house is a bit east of st. albert

  • hahaha cool.. must have been loud

  • lol yeah i didn't expect anything to hit so close

  • you where lucky to see it so close

  • holy fuck, did u feel the heat from it?

  • i don't remember if I could feel it or not, but i know for sure the camera didn't process how loud it was :P. I'm sure if that truck wasn't grounded it would've struck it and be alot more intense lol

  • ooh nice. you were a few feet away from death! lolz

  • Haha darren :P
