I would have preferred Victoria Principal to come back over Linda Gray. But being that this is J.R.'s show, they had to bring his wife back for some more action packed drama.
Did anyone watch the Dallas Reunion movie when everyone thought that J.R. was dead? Even J.R.'s Sons believed so. But lo and behold, at the end of the movie, J.R. was brought back to South Fork in the back of an old truck. J.R.'s Boys were lit up light Christmas Trees seeing their Father alive in reality.
@Jiltedin2007 HOLD ON YOU SAID JRS SONS W/ AN S LIKE HE HAS MORE THAN 1?????? AM I WRONG I THOUGHT THERE WAS ONLY JOHN ROSS? ALSO I AGREE W/VICTORIA COMING BACK AS WELL AS MISS ELLIE AND CLIFF...WHEN AND WHERE DOES THIS SHOW BEGIN? I WAS A KNOTS FAN AS WELL-WISH THEY WOULD START IT AGAIN...
@nineteeneighties1 It really happened. If I could, I would love to see that movie on the Reunion of Dallas. To see J.R. Ewing return to South Fork on the back of a truck had to bring a tear to you eyes, no matter how much you hated him. And especially after everyone in the movie wrote him off as dead.
And now, J.R. is in his last legs of life. After all, it's only been almost 50 years now when he was "Major Nelson" to Barbara Eden.
I am currently 34 and I remember watching Dallas at a very young age. While most fellow students made fun of me because of it. I didn't care. Larry Hagman's J.R. was my favorite character as well as Patrick Duffy's Bobby. Watching Dallas always made me happy from a young age. We all know that while shows come and go. Dallas endures. While other actors fade from the limelight. Dallas endures. While shows fade from memory. Dallas still endures!! Enough said!
@RMN1Dallas1 duuuude I can totally relate. I'm 34 myself and I have memories of watching it on CBS with my mom and nana. Then I watched it in syndication on TNN. I got teased for it too. The old man had me hooked!!
dont expect the opening everyone remembers. It will never be this long on network tv. You might get a 30 second snippet of the theme like the new Hawaii five-0.
I know Larry Hagman isn't in the best of health at the moment & quite old, but if he's in the first few episodes, maybe the transition without him could be easier if they stay true to the old format...But we shall see.
haha when John Ross said "I have every right I'm a Ewing", Bobby looked like he was ganna turn around and smack the taste out of his mouth and say "boy who the hell do you think you're talking to?"
Very true but also what made people go by the evil was the what we thought to be the last episode where JR comes to face with the Devil..and everyone thought he shot himself until he cam back in the TV movie..5 years later
@firecracker3240 i think jr did 1 thing the entire series where i think he overstepped the line that was when he payed lisa alden to try get custody of christoper to force bobby to buy westar shares he said some evil thinks and was completly ruthless but i tend to agree he wasnt evil as such he is i think the greatest tv charchter of all time
Pam died I believe in the year after they brought Bobby back. Pam died in that season's cliff hanger under a car accident and explosion. The actress was having a series of back problems that limited her apeparances anyway.
@theflorgeormix I want to comment on what I think is a misconception about JR. He wasn't evil - not by a long shot. He was morally questionable at times and a ruthless, cunning business man. However, he wasn't evil. He believed in the company his father built from nothing. He felt it was his family's legacy and, as the eldest son of Jock, his duty to protect it, no matter what.
This is why he was the amazing, enduring character he's always been. Evil characters don't have the longevity.
@FireCracker3240 I agree and at times I even sided with JR. The other characters at times were hypocritical. Take for instance when Pamela took John Ross. Most men would have done far worst to her than verbally attacking her.
I'll buy the cast but sorry to say I think they are going with another theme. They will retire the original theme but stranger things have happened, I could be surprised.
@Fanik10 At least in the preview, they've used the original theme song ( watch?v=d220ZdzdFTQ ). I hope they keep it in the series and they use a similar intro.
@heidos7 It's clearly not the real opening; the visuals are far too cheap and amateur to be genuine. But yes, they'll surely re-record the original music because that's all part of the show's identity.
Jr WAS evil.

You'd think in 2012 they'd add some diversity to the cast. It's just as white as it was in the 80's.

I think the new Dallas series will be not too long, because J.R. is too old, and he has prostate cancer. I can't imagine Dallas without J.R.
