  • Coolest old people ever!

  • DOOD i watched this baked it was amasing... i highly recomend doing that haha highly...get it!!!! im a genisousss

  • ATU was an exploitative mess of Sixties cliches (whether they fit or not) and badly-performed Beatles songs.

John Lennon would be rolling in his grave.

  • I'm 16 and I LOOOOOOVVVVVVVVEEEEEEED IT!! IT'S ONE OF MY FAV MOVIES!

  • I loved Across the Universe!! 10/10

  • haha the only part of the movie i like was where they sang "With a Little Help from my Friends" otherwise, the movie was boring and i wasn't to interested,((even though i love the Beatles and have all of their music)) yes i did like "Good Luck Chuck" better though!and actually recomend it to people out there, but yeah i only recomend seeing "Across the Universe" just for the experience

  • ugh! good luck chuck? your taste runs to the lowbrow, I see. the only thing i liked about that movie was the sample of 'bela lugosi's dead'.

  • Terrible, terrible, terrible movie. I've never seen such a high-budget film be so (bluntly put) bad and so, as one of the reviewers said, self-conscious. It sickens me how many people my age praise this biased joke of a film.

  • ahahahahaa "i want that in: memory loss!!"

  • Across the Universe is such a forgettable film, lacking any real emotion - even despite the fact it used Beatles songs! At the end I sat there thinking "SO?". The beginning part with the dancing football players got a BIG LAUGH from all of us, women, children, men alike! Ha! "Once" and "Hairspray" were WAY BETTER than this movie. Stay away from the film and just play the Beatles CDs.

  • Like Marcie mentioned, the drafting scene was awesome visually. I don't know what it feels like to be on heroine, but I assume that the drafting scene represents the feeling closely.

  • As one of todays young people i can say that i have seen the movie several times, often with several friends, and we all unanimously praised it

  • I loved "Titus"! Hate this one!

  • This film was SO poorly written. "How'd she get in?"... "She came in through the bathroom window!" Is that the BEST they could do? You think that's bad? The entire movie is FILLED with that. Avoid at all costs.

  • awesome review. but i still liked the movie.

  • Sue me: I liked it alot!

  • I never saw it. I'm too busy watching YouTube. i enjoy your reviews, though...

  • i my opinion i wanted 2 like this movie soo bad but first of all it was 2 long. They could of cut some scenes out. Second it was find up umtil the middle with bono, i got totally lost after that. All that they needed 2 do was shorten it and have more of a story 2 it and it would of been better. But i loved how they made the song totally different and hip for 2day.

  • In my opinion, Across The Universe was actually visually astounding, but the plot and certain scenes had loopholes and was not coherent in general. Certain parts were quite taxing to watch and yes, psychedelic. Oh, and I don't really understand the significance of the character Prudence. Besides that, acting was top notch, musical sequences were engaging. But it would be torture to watch the movie as a whole. 3/5 from me.

  • I thought the story line could have been better, but I thought they were pretty good at creating a story where all those songs could be applied. No one can ever out do The Beatles, but I thought they did a nice spin on some of the songs, and the visual effects were nice too. This is all my opinion. I love these Reel Geezers reviews too!

  • i agree with them for the most part

    but..

halfway through the movie i felt like i was on drugs, it was way too psychedelic!

but the beginning and end were okay in my book.

i am sorry if you disagree, but that is just my opinion.

  • god,

this movie is for chicks but,

if guys were to watch this they would be the best.

i loved this movie it was the cutest thing haha

  • the movie is for chicks and gay men

  • I hated this movie so much. I agree that it was a mess. I would have walked out after the first 10 minutes.

  • I thought the movie was genius, I don't care what they say. I think it does aplly to the younger generation. I am 13. It's really a great movie. It's risky, it's different, it's something you wouldn't just see everywhere.

I loved the movie's covers. They did an awesome job of not being The Beatles, but sounding awesome in their own individual way.

  • I AGREE

  • I agree with them, the movie was horrible, and the butchering of the songs made me hate it with a passion!

  • sorry old folks but it was intended for todays young people im 18 too young to have live during that time i love the beatles and the movie was good although yeah quite lenghty but still great music no matter wat

  • I enjoyed it

  • the movie sucked

  • I agree, the movie had it's highs and lows, but too many lows. It seemed to be trying too hard to be this great, epic, special something.

  • These folks contradict themselves far too often. They must be succumbing to memory loss (as they themselves admit!)

  • but thats kinda nice its like your getting a whole bunch of reviews from alot of different people!

  • Great, classic, rock operatic film.

  • Not appealing to the youth? Are you kidding me?

I'm 16 years old and many teens, believe it or not including me, listen to music that their parents grew up with such as the beatles. This is definetely not a film exclusively for Vietnam genertaion folk.

  • i like how she calls robert dinero bobby dinero

  • lol these people aren't very perceptive for two intelligent critics. They see right through a lot of very powerful messages.

  • what are those "powerful messages"?

  • powerful messages? please. this film is extremely and dully literal. about as deep as a kiddie pool.

  • lol.. the message is basically how these people become a family in a horrible time and try to make the best of it. But what can they do? the issues around them are too overwhelming to ignore. Similar to todays issues with gun violence and terrorism and war. The world is never going to be peaceful even though people struggle so hard for it

  • Interesting that two senior citizens seem sure that they know what teengagers will like. idk, I found the story timeless. Like they said, boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl.

  • Yeah, it's not like they were ever teenagers and can reflect on that from the vantage point of experience. No, old folks don't know anything, lol. Ya gotta love Western culture for how it devalues true wisdom and worships only youth and inexperience.

  • Or you can value Eastern Cultures for obeying the senile and wise equally, following without question at pain of terrible punishment. And it only gets worse the further East you go.

  • Obviously, these people are not senile or suffering from dimensia. Trying to paint Eastern Culture as being as disfunctional as the West over respecting the wisdom of ones elders is totally apples and oranges. But, I'm sure the west has many such bogus arguments inorder to sleep peacefully. I see them on the so called "news" all the time.

  • It's not that at all. They imply that, since today's teenagers don't live in the era depicted in this film, they will not enjoy it as much.

  • Yo. I related to this movie and I'm a youth. Also- All You Need is Love. Simple. Intelligence... what is that? The knowledge of facts? The ability to think logically? Where does that get you? The truly satisfied life is filled with the love of family and friends, not facts or logic.

  • I was disappointed at this movie. It was too confusing like a bunch of music videos put together then some dialog just put in.

  • i think the movie was great but the beginning sucked cuz its just the three songs and you think that it is just going to be song after song. in the end its not.

  • THESE PEOPLE ARE SO RIGHT ON!!! I want to go to the movies with this couple.

  • you're a wrong about it not being able to appeal to youth today...not just because I love it and it's one of my favorite movies of all time, but because it seems to me like many other people (including ones that have already posted under this video) feel the same way...just because it's not like the musicals from the 40's and 50's doesn't mean it isn't good

  • I totally agree with your review except for the whole not relating to the youth. I almost thought it was custom tailored as a sort of 60s review for young people with references/in-jokes for the adults. And I say this as a teenage Beatles fan. And word on the groovy draft scene. ;) I liked the army guys' masks.

  • across the universe was amazing! I'm eighteen and all my friends love this film. from ages 15-25 they all thought it was brilliant. the imagery was fantastic because it was fresh and creative, the covers were fabulous, the only thing I had a problem with was a few of the lines evan rachel wood delivered. I love her, but little bits of the dialogue were just not totally spot on.

anyway, I have to disagree with them about this movie. I've seen it three times and loved it each and every time.

  • these folks dont seem to know what theyre talking about. they constantly change their opinions throughout the video. and why is it that you dont think it would apppeal to todays youth??? im only a teenager and i beleive it was the most incredible film ive ever seen and i have many friends that share my opinion. Across The universe was a brilliant film

  • I really love these reviews. I really really do, but it's kinda hard to watch with the camera angle being changed every 3 or 4 seconds. Other than that... really great.

  • I totally agree...the cuts made it a little nauseating at times.

But I love listening to the reviews!

  • I kind of thought "Across the Universe" was over rated and over indulgent. if you know what I mean.

  • As a beatle fan i loved everything about the movie. It had a unbelieveable cast, mind blowing songs and a story that made you feel like you were in that time period.

  • All I have to say is pay attention at 2:15 of this vid. I left Across the Universe after ten minutes. And oh yeah THE MOVIE IS A DISGRACE TO THE BEATLES. If you know more about the Beatles than just what the hits were you would know this. Two words: Beatle Covers. (Not Beatle Tracks)

  • "Across the Universe" isn't about the Beatles. It's just inspired by their songs.

  • leaving the movie after 10 minutes hardly qualifies you to critique it...and it's your fault for thinking they were going to be playing the actual Beatle tracks...and if that's all you wanted, you should have spent your money on a CD or downloads

  • wow dude did you think i didnt know that they were covers OF COURSE THEY ARE that does not mean they are bad. And saying that i know only the hits of the beatles ha i have study them more then any other band they changed music. If you say your a beatles fan what did the Beatles first call them selfs

  • The Quarrymen? that was the 1st not the last, ANYHOW I know the movie isnt SUPPOSED 2b beatles songs.. but covers suck. Sometimes theres a good cover of a song. but usually they suck! So what I'm saying is this movie is a disgrace because of the sheer suckiness of the idea to cover Beatles songs. (or is it The Silver Beatles lol zatch you fucker)Come on wouldnt this movie be MUCH better if it just used original Beatles? how could you disagree with that? maybe if youre not really a Beatles fan.

  • Admit it. It would be better with real Beatles music. If you know the original name of the band (which i give you isnt easy trivia for most) why wouldnt you want to see a feature length film featuring the beatles music? why would you get all righteous about me proposing that? oh by the way "that doesnt mean they are bad" THEY ARE BAD! WHATS BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL??? Come ON dude...

  • across the universe is the most amazing movie. I loved it

  • im also 14 and i love this movie

but i dont agree with the woman i tthink its one of the best movies this year and so do a lot of my classmates in school so i do think this will be one of the more popular movies this year

  • I've realized that he changes his opinion of the movie throughout the video many times

  • That's what old people do. They're indecisive because they have crappy memories. They can't remember what they hate, and why, so they just hate everything generally.

  • true, but mean too :( not all elderly are that way, only some unfortunate ones. I think he changes his mind as the video progresses due to the fact that she makes him realize, or reminds him of some of the imagery shown, that he didn't like.

  • bvcgjcv,cv

  • I love these two. They represent men and women better than most hollywood movies.

    Great job

  • someone off these two.

  • the movie was a mess and cornball and the best scene was where the guy signed up for the army to the song "i want you (she's so heavy)". these two are right on.

  • they ruined that song. The last thing I want to think about is Uncle Sam when I hear that song. Besides that... "I want you" let's do some free association... oh I know uncle sam... REAAAAAL creative

  • You know, cynicism isn't a very attractive trait. Subtlety obviously wasn't part of the director's objective. Being able to point that out hardly makes you clever.

  • I'm cynical because I thought the movie was a mess? Who was trying to be clever? I'm simply stating an opinion. You don't have to agree with it.

  • I'm 14 and I loved the movie Across The Universe. It was so beautiful.

P.S. Just so you know, someone from Liverpool is a Liverpudlian.

  • These guys hate everything.

Good thing I don't care for their reviews. ;)

  • "you need intelligence" - great line.

  • The film was pure garbage. I love musicals...and I like the Beatles, for the record.

  • I'm 245, and I LOVE the beatles.

Note: 4:10 behidn the lady, KITTY!!

  • dude, how do you notice stuff like that? lol

  • Attention Defficite Disorder

  • Pretty good...especially when having memory loss. :P

  • im 16 and i think the beatlkes are brilliant

  • what does age have to do with it?

well I'm 18 and think the Beatles were innovative!..... geez..... :P

  • I loved the movie, but only after the fact. I'm not much of a Beatles fan to begin with so I was a little biased, but thinking back on the movie I'm impressed with the way she integrated so many aspects of these songs that really had no common thread to begin with! It was amazing and it's definitly a movie I'm putting in my collection

  • I'm 17, and I really really reallyyyy enjoyed this movie. I've seen it a few times in theaters and I can't get enough of it! I just thought it was beautiful. I liked the fact that it was all over the place because it kept me interested and it actually helped get me in tune with the movie. It's helpful that Jude was flipping gorgeous. :)

  • If people want to watch a beatles muscal, watch The yellow submarine.

  • Hard Day's Night, by far.

  • any Beatles fan that dost respect their work isn't a Beatles fan

  • That's a legit thing to say, but as we probably all know, Yellow Submarine was hardly the Beatles' work. The songs existed before, the boys had nothing to do with the script and obviously didn't do their own voices. They were all so removed from the Beatles at that point and much more involved in drugs, their lives, and solo projects. It's only a Beatles movie by technicality. As naakkve10 says, a great Beatles movie would be Help! or A Hard Day's Night.

  • Knew I'd get trashed for saying that, but thank you for expressing the logic of it so well.

  • Yellow Submarine wasn't garbage, it was entertaining in a juvenile sort of way, but you are right about Help! and a Hard Day's Night. Any Beatles fan that has not seen either of those movies should Netflix them asap.

  • Im young (18) and i thought this music was fantastic!!! Even though the storyline was cliched they told it in a very beautiful and clever way. The movie isn't only about the love story its about the music and the beautiful scenes (the army scene and the underwater scene) This movie is certainly better than Once!!!!!!!!!

Its amazing and i am in love with this film

  • brilliant. This is a wonderful concept, honest, funny, intelligent, excellent.

I loved Once too, it's amazing!

  • Another great show. Keep'm coming!

  • I was ready to walk out as well, but i did not want to insult the people who invited me to see it with them, i thought the whole movie was a complete mess, nothing seemed to flow or fit, and it went on FOREVER

  • personally, i didnt want it to end :P

  • these videos are delightfully refreshing!

  • Those two are a hoot. Enjoy the banter. Keep them coming.

  • Marcia's right, it's terrible except for the draft scene.
