i wanted to start ribbon dancing but its not very common around here so there isnt really anywhere to get advice or take classes.

I was going to make my own ribbons by buying some material but i'm not sure how much i need as in length and width for my height (i'm 5ft) and also what material would work, other than silk. Do you have any recommendations?

thats the same dance my teacher at new york cultural center taught me o.o but only with one ribbon!!!!

the ribbon is probably polyester - but silk is the best. they are about 1.5-2 feet wide and approx 12-15 ft long depending on the height of the girl. you can make your own but make sure they are attached well to the sticks. Or buy them from any online Chinese gift shop.
