hey that piano sounds grate, i was thinking to get it for like 2 weeks now do you think i should get this one (yamaha 635) or do you have any other sugestions PLEASE ANSWER BACK!
@thedropoutkid Thanks. Sorry it took me so long to reply. IMHO this is a great value. For the money, I don't know of anything as good but I haven't checked around in a long time. Just don't expect the onboard speakers to crank out enough to perform at the Isle of Wight. An amp is needed for that. Products by Korg and Roland are excellent too. Instrument choice is a very personal choice and you'll always find different people praising and dissing the same brand/model of anything.
@Halunlimited Yeah, I have realized that when I went to a few music stores. Like some pianos that are said that to be the best of all were not very suitable to me personally. Thanks for the feedback! I will keep searching keyboards. I actually haven't tried this one yet but I'm on it for sure aha :P thanks again! :)
@willintexas Thanks man. Yeah, Stand by Me is one of my all time favorites and I never played it on the keyboard but will put it on my "to do" list. BTW, I just posted a new original song "Dinosaur Music Video" (a collaboration) on the front page of this YT site. It has kind of a funky oldies flavor. I also tried out my filming and editing for the first time to make my first music video. Please check it out and leave a comment. You'll be the first to do so. Thanks. Peace!
Thanks much! I just played it as I remembered it, by ear. I know it's not accurate to the way it's written, but the spirit that remained with me after hearing it is what came out in this version. Be well.
I was trying to play Pachelbel's Canon in D, only picking it out by ear since I don't read notes that well. It's not accurate by any means so you're probably right that it sounds closer to Pachelbel's C or E than D. But I enjoyed playing it anyway. I had just gotten this new keyboard and was enjoying it's wonderful variety of sounds.
This sounds very good in C and i expect it's easier to play. Thank you for your nice comment on my Eskimo lesson. I am getting a Yamaha starter keyboard for Xmas and hope to learn to play as well as you someday.
The nice thing about electronic keyboards is that you can play viola, flute and piano at the same time and even add choral voices. It's a lot of fun. You can be your own orchestra. I put a lot of these voices together in a demonstration (all at once, no sequencing) on my "Amazing Grace - Western Version" on YouTube.
Yep, Cannon is sure becoming famous, even more so with such great videos. I too have the DGX620 and its really smooth for pieces that're not too fast, but when it comes to flight of the bumblebee, I feel its response isn't ideal. It'd help a lot if you'd post a video of Rimsky-Korsakov's Flight of the bumblebee [:)]
I haven't played anything fast enough to notice any lag on the Yamaha, although I did run out of polyphony sometimes because I like to use a lot of voices simultaneously. Thanks for your suggestion. Right now my speed is more like Glide of the Seagulls and I'm working on a smoother piece by Tschaikowsky.
You're right. I never thought about it that way. It does sound as if Clocks did a take on it. Yes this keyboard is great. Great sounds and a great value. You can hear me demonstrate some of the cool variety of voices from this instrument on my "Homage to E.T." song which I wrote, inspired by the movie. Check it out at my youtube homepage. This Yamaha has quite a lot of flexibility. I recommend it highly if you want a great new instrument for a reasonable price.
Great playing but you repeat it in different sounds - It is good for whoever wants to test the piano's performance (like me) but I suggest that you will play the full Canon!
I am going to buy the DGX-620 tomorrow, seems to be an awesome instrument ! I started to play Canon Rock (of Matt) by ear but after hearing you, the classical version can be better :P
Congrats on getting your own Yamaha. Yes, I got carried away with trying out all the cool voices on this fine instrument. I couldn't help myself. You may find yourself getting intrigued by all it's capabilities too. Some day I'll check out how to play Pachelbel the correct way. For now, I've just been having fun. Good luck.
you are obviously really talented at piano, and play by ear like me, but your a 100 times better lol. anyways, another thing you have is a good taste in different instruments working well together. i think you should figure out really good sounding songs (kind of more modern songs) and do tutorials on them, because lots of people wants to play songs the best sounding way, and i think you can do that. i know this is a very specific request, but it its only an opinion. great job, and dont stop 5/5
Thanks much for the encouragement. To record without any outside noise interference, instead of using mikes, I ran a phono cable from the keyboard audio out, then to a Y-Splitter which split half of the signal to my computer's audio input (using the built-in iSight webcam for video)and plugged my headphones into the the remaining Y-Split connection. I used iMovie to record the originals. I like the animations you matched to your recordings. Makes it more entertaining.
is this also available to be bought on itunes or amazon? i am getting married in december and think this would be lovely.

Nice version. This is a genuis of a piece anyway! One of my absolutely favourites.

Wow, you're very good. How about a video of some of the great oldies like "Stand By Me" or "Please Mister Postman"? It would sound great!

At first it sounded very similar to Clocks, but then there was no doubt it was Canon.
Very nice. I'm probably getting this keyboard soon, how is it?
