I'm tired of hearing you guys say that an M-80 is a 1/4 stick of dynamite, 3 reasons why it isn't true:

1; flash powder is not a high explosive.

2; a 1/4 stick of dynamite is 20 grams of high explosive.

3; you need 50 grams of flash powder to brake the souns barrier ( be faster than sound ) that makes an expansion wave, and you only need 2.75 grams of high explosive to brake the sound barrier, thats a big difference.

The M-80 was named that by the army when they were used for simulated artillery almost a century ago.

The chemistry is completely different--a salute won't produce a detonation shockwave no matter how big it is. You can set a high explosive on top of a boulder in open air and shatter it.
