seeing all these fish makes me want a fish. I am planning on getting one from my bf fro valentines. Just not quite sure what kind yet. I thought about a beta fish, but those may be a little too aggressive for my taste. I need something small (college dorm regulations) and that will be happy in a small--ish tank. Betta seems to be my best bet- though I'm sure there are many possibilities.
<3 baby crappie, but baby blue gill are ugly as hell, it sucks only giant adults are the only;y pretty ones, but I guess a colorful and tasty baby fish isn't very fictional in a wild environment.
@shoopwhoopX Touché. LOL! Crappie are one of my favorites to catch as well. I always put them back, feel way too guilty keeping one, when I take care of one at home.
@coreyrhymer huge fish pellets, couple times a week, and they are in a relatively large pond, with lots to eat, if we dont feed them, they live with a few coi fish as well
@AZIlluminati08 Bad genetics, he may have been the ones the bigger fish eat. Some fish just don't get big... May be even be stunted with the over crowding... I just don't really know though... I feed my crappie minnows and wax worms. The fish usually grow an inch a year, depending on food, warmth of water, etc.
i just got 2 bluegill or redear sunfish they arent eating need help they are about 2-3 inches long and i got them from a local pond i have a 10 gal. tank but im going to get a bigger one before they get too big for the 10 gal.
@XxzM1K3xX To answer this easily, read a few of my earlier posts. Although, I have found out, going to the local pet store, such as a Petco or Petsmart. You can buy some mini or small sized mealworms, my crappie love them! I need to do a new post of my tank now. I've downsized and only have 3 crappies. Had to return the green sunfish, they are overly aggressive. I'll try to show a clip of the 3 crappie sometime soon, when they are feeding. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@Whitevoice14 Yeah, although not so much. When they are young they are really picky. I have only 2 crappies in my tank, I really downsized. The bigger of the two seems to eat anything, little guppies, freeze dried blood worms, and even wax worms(he loves them a lot!). The smaller of the two really only rakes to the blood worms. Although he ate a few of the guppies when I fed them those for the first time. The smaller one also doesn't like the wax worms.
It may take some time for the crappie to get acclimated to eating the blood worms comparing to what you are feeding them now, but I may be wrong because not all fish will act the same. Let me know what you are feeding yours and what your thoughts are.
@tylerdmax8 My crappie is still rather small. Ive tried to feed it a little piece of a leaf worm, it tasted the worm then didn't want anything to do with it, same with the bullhead. I am still feeding the crappie freeze dried blood worms, which is probably the reason it isn't getting big. The crappie may need a little more sustenance in its food. Though its hard because its so picky. The bullhead eats cichlid pellets still and devours them. Will upload another video soon to show their progress.
@tylerdmax8 I downsized my tank though, took the 2 bluegill and 1green sunfish back to the pet store. Just the crappie and bullhead now. Although later this spring I plan on another crappie.
I feed my crappie freeze dried blood worms, which are light in weight and float on the surface. The man at the pet store suggested feeding, when at the time i only had crappies, cichlid sinking pellets. The pellets are small in size, i could only think about a 1/4 of a m&m. I dont have any luck getting the crappie to eat the pellets though, it's very finicky and prefers only the freeze dried blood worms. My catfish gobbles the pellets up though. You can get blood worms at any pet store.
