Um, you don't. This is just to show you whether the flash is ready to fire. When you push it, it will fire accordind to metering (in ETTL) or your setting (in manual mode).
Actually is DOES switch itself off - and while it saves batteries is a VERY annoying when you are shooting a wedding and pause for 2 minutes. . .then go for the shot only to find it has gone to sleep! Grrrrr.
Just wondering, the "wireless" slave mode. Does the Di622 need a master unit mounted on camera to trigger other units or can it be triggered by the camera only, like the Nikon sb600?
@Harthors with wireless trigger u loose TTL, u need a TTL cable to have it separeted from the camera.

I don't think it turns off automatically, no. This only works when the flash is mounted on the camera.
