Because her controlling mother made her get a "glossy" with that hair and goofy smile to distribute to potential clients - it's so pathetic, isn't it? LOL, it sets up the break with her stagemommy which finally comes.
@AmusedChild did you just call a headshot a "glossy"? Do you even understand how show-business works? Yes, I agree that Doris's mother is controlling, but eventually Doris does show a real interest in acting and without a simple headshot and resume you will get nowhere in the industry.
@UnderThisSmile Yes, I called it a "glossy" because that's what it was called when I was in theatre; however, I always had mine done by professional photographers. That was a while ago; perhaps before your time.
@UnderThisSmile Rats - I was going to attach my "head shot" (now that I'm a belly dancer you could decide for yourself if it's a head shot) but I can't seem to post links in comments. Oh, well, I guess you're spared. I'm also hearing "photo resume"? I'm going with "e-portfolio."(Is it still called "show business" BTW?) :-D
@UnderThisSmile No worries. I probably should update my language to something used in this century. But you just know that Doris's mother took that photo herself! LOL! :-D
Where's the song sung by Paul McCrane ? I can't find it anymore . "Dogs in the yard " is one of my favourite songs . Please put it back on Youtube , if I know how to download the song, I would have done it a long time ago. Really appreciate it.
Hi, I like your video clip and have rated it as awesome. Please check out mine on some top 1930's movie star cards. They include: Clark Gable, Jean Harlow, Maurice Chevalier, Gary Cooper, Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford ....
Great movie, but DAMN it's so dated now! Never-the-less, it's the movie that inspired me to move to New York when I was 17 years old (still here nearly 30 years later).
Thank you SO much for posting this! Together with "is it ok if i call you mine", "On my Own" and "Body electric" this is one of my favorites on my MPGPlayer (NO ipod here sorry ;)
One of my favorite moments in the film FAME. Always like Paul Mccrane's voice. His performance in the film was terrific as well. Hope to see more of him. FAME, what a great movie. I pull it out of my video library from time to time to re-experience it. Great fun.
Fave part of the film for some reason!! YAY!

This is a great song, one of my all time favs! I believe that the great bassist Marcus Miller played on this song. He was 17 years old then.

Paul McCrane was also in the movie "Robo Cop." It's funny to see the Howard Johnson in Times Square it's no longer.

@AmusedChild Forgive me. I just took a look at your channel and I didn't know you were a performer yourself. :)

@AmusedChild Also, re-reading my comment makes me sound incredibly rude. I honestly didn't mean for it to come across that way.
