Aristide was a democratically elected president. He was overthrown twice in coups. There is a huge financial machine backed by USAID, CIDA, etc that has worked to overthrow Haiti's elected governments. They've done the same thing in Venezuela,etc.

He was in power way for too long and did nothing. The only thing he new how to really do is by controlling the masses. I also thought he had potential at first. We like to make excuses, blaming the US but why would it only be Haiti in this situation. you have DR, Jaimaica ect.. who were all kind of started the same way, but now, have evovled. We went backwards ever since he was in power. we would of been better off with the duvaliers

Yes Aristide was not able to do what he promised what he promised to do prior to his coup but the world bank took stranghold upon his return to haiti and just because he married a bourgeoise doesnt mean he was corrupt...

this is pure bullshit and propaganda, Arisitde was the worse president we ever had. He took advantage of the haitian people's ignorance (close to 80-90% of the haitian population can't even read) and married someone from the bourgeoisie. He made haiti one of the biggest drug ports in the world. Get your fact straight. I saw it first hand, I was there when the shit went down.
