The textbooks say amoebae never die, that they just go on dividing and dividing, producing pairs of daughter cells. Was this one 'dying' because it was in a noxious, ?isotonic fluid, or was this a truly natural event? Thanks for posting this. It's very interesting and unusual. I haven't seen this event before anywhere.

When I took gravol I swear I actually saw a foot and a half long paramecium as if it were projected on my wall. It stayed there for a little while and I could see its cilia all moving in the same direction. I'd like to see that type of hallucination explained in a rational way. I wasn't thinking about it till I saw it.
