@xRocketzFighterx Smash bros melee aged pretty freaking good too... But yeah, Super M cannot be beaten... I will always find new reasons for liking this game... Surely it is the boldest, most mature game to come out of nintendo... Perhaps even the darkest for that matter...
SSBM is still great even though back then before brawl I was hopeing to play as starwolf (appears in the arwing intro) I can play that game for ages mostly with friends.
Super M is one of those games that is so perfect in every way, music, gameplay, graphics are alive n well detailed, control also rewarding players with skill or people who are new to the series to.
Also the game is pretty short round 40min for speed runs to 2 hours and thats a good thing imo.
@xRocketzFighterx Im in total agreement with you on that one... The sense of full and total control of samus, from altering her speed when sprinting to wall jumping effortlessly, will never be dismissed. And part of their gaming philosophy is finding different ways to approaching unreachable gaps... This game is the only metroid game that gives you other options of breaking those gaps through the use of other items or acrobatic skill alone...
@xRocketzFighterx The BEST metroid title EVER. I would LOVE to see a remake of it done . Kept in 2D side scroller fashion. Same map layout and all, same item placement just updated graphics. Like they did with Metroid Zero Mission (looking for a copy for that now)

Oh yeah so want to see super metroid get the high class remake treatment, they should hire capcom's gamecube resident evil team to help them with development if you pay attention to that game's backgrounds the artwork is amazing done in 2D render.
@xRocketzFighterx I agree whole heartedly. The GC remake of Resident Evil was amazing. I still have it. It's the only GC game I kept. Seeing Super Metroid redone by the same team with the same love and care would make it gamer heaven for me.

From controls to graphics to difficulty to content and not the least of all the sound. It drew you in, created menacing ambients. Your nerves were very often on edge when playing Metroid.

Hands down the best metroid ever made. The first three had this feeling to them that the others couldnt match. Alone in space on some planet, dark, grungy and alone. There was a decayed feel to things thanks to the leftovers of previous civilizations. @pattikerans In my opinion, Fusion was a more enjoyable experience than Super Metroid. The ability to ledge grab, the plot... It felt less static. Super Metroid was an amazing game, and it's a legend in its own right -- but meh. I didn't necessarily enjoy the complete lack of direction, save for "find the metroid!" And Fusion has some pretty dark, eerie moments. The music and plot in the beginning of the game was terrifying when I first played it.
@Elena9525 It may be taste, or it may be age. Did you grow up with Super Metroid, or did you grow up with Fusion? The older you are, the more you stick to the core classics. Some people who are older than me would argue that the original Metroid is even better than Super Metroid.
@LensOfTruth1689 I didn't grow up with Super Metroid, but I played it as a child in '90s -- well before Fusion. And that's correct... People do tend to prefer the classics if they've experienced them firsthand in their original glory. I'm more impartial and objective, though. From a technical perspective, Fusion is a fairly clear superiority to Super Metroid -- ledge grabbing, tighter control and movement, less room for exploits... It feels like Super Metroid, but it feels more refined.
@LensOfTruth1689 It's similar to the Zelda franchise... I personally thought Majora's Mask was better than Ocarina of Time simply because of the darker, less linear feel of the game. And I enjoyed Twilight Princess more than any other Zelda game I've played in the franchise.

Metroid for SNES was one of the best Games ever! That was my first game for SNES! :-) and in the beginning i was scared of the monsters in the game ! haha
a real demonstration to how a limited pallete can make memorable and effective music. if this were made with an orchestra i feel it wouldnt nearly be as good.
this game is timeless, i remember first playing it in the early 90's when i was about 4 , and it still just as fun today. easily the best game of all time.

I beat this game a thousand times when it came out and I still beat it about once or twice a year since. I am 25 and plan on beating it once a year for the foreseeable future. Some games just make an impact.

Super Metroid was an amazing game, and it's a legend in its own right -- but meh. I didn't necessarily enjoy the complete lack of direction, save for "find the metroid!" And Fusion has some pretty dark, eerie moments. The music and plot in the beginning of the game was terrifying when I first played it.
Taste is subjective, I suppose. ^.^

@Elena9525 It may be taste, or it may be age. Did you grow up with Super Metroid, or did you grow up with Fusion? The older you are, the more you stick to the core classics. Some people who are older than me would argue that the original Metroid is even better than Super Metroid.

@LensOfTruth1689 I didn't grow up with Super Metroid, but I played it as a child in '90s -- well before Fusion. And that's correct... People do tend to prefer the classics if they've experienced them firsthand in their original glory. I'm more impartial and objective, though. From a technical perspective, Fusion is a fairly clear superiority to Super Metroid -- ledge grabbing, tighter control and movement, less room for exploits... It feels like Super Metroid, but it feels more refined.

@LensOfTruth1689 It's similar to the Zelda franchise... I personally thought Majora's Mask was better than Ocarina of Time simply because of the darker, less linear feel of the game. And I enjoyed Twilight Princess more than any other Zelda game I've played in the franchise.

goddamit, i typed super metroid music and i had this music in my head, and the first choice is brinstar, goddamit i love you shang, and metroid is the most historical, emotional of all video games, i mean, super metroid makes me think about it all the night, i think of it with curiousiness, i try to find secret places in my head, this IS the game that make your brain work like hell, like mother brain! I beat this game a thousand times when it came out and I still beat it about once or twice a year since. I am 25 and plan on beating it once a year for the foreseeable future. Some games just make an impact.

Great. Thank you. This is my favorite song in the game, and there are no single words to describe why. I played the game for first time last year as a 21 year old, and man this was some of the most atmospheric shit I've ever heard.

This is one of the better games I've played. also one of the better tracks I've heard. it almost sounds oriental too, with the piano. Speaking of which, I think Nintendo used Super mario world's piano samples in this. if not, something similar.
