Flying along the Flooded Kankakee River. Global Warming?

i remember when K3 was flooded, i freaked out about this and didnt come outside for awhile.

i agree with rick. although i believe that global warming is affecting our planet i think that we need to take a broader historical perspective . The kankakee is certainly a river that has been massively altered and in it's natural state flooded a wide area of land that is now excluded from the floodplain.

Global warming isn't everything that Al Gore would like you to believe. The earth goes through cycles, if you go back 400 years, grapes were being grown in Scotland. 200 years later, we have the Little Ice Age. Now we're again warming up. As for the Kankakee flooding, a lot of that comes from the fact that the Indiana side was dredged and straightened, and the natural floodplains were turned into farmland.

Flood of 1979 moved the Warner Bridge of Rt.102 & 113 several inches, bridge had to have major repairs....

i was downstream, behind dresdens cooling lake, we always flooded from the road, the ditches filled and rushed to meet the river(river was about to top our sea wall) but i will never forget the icechunks in the driveway and front yards.

my friends car was swept away by a creek out off of rt 102 while she was driving. it was the craziest shit ever! water was up to our waists and moving very fast. needless to say, the car was totaled. but the three of us in the vehicle were fine. it was interesting seeing the river from above. thanks for video!

i was on the kankakee bridge by riverside hospital & the bridge was shaking like crazy when we were stopped on it at a red light! my mom was freaking out and very anxious. that was crazy. the water was so high & had a tremendous speed
