The reference is to when I took the pictures, which was during the wee hours before dawn of one perfect, warm, clear, moonless night in August, 2006. The location was near Snoqualmie pass, off of I-5 in the Cascade Mountains.
@iszabo2 you see summer constellations in winter and vice versa. we talk about the period of the constellation when the sun has it in its background. which means they can't be seen at night - you have to wait half a year to see the constellation at night. got it?
Absolutely a perfect ending to this Christmas eve. If only the view from my window was like this each night. So many stars I cannot even distinguish the major constellations. Thank you.
