$Stand up 4 your RIGHTS Americans.+The REPUBLICANS have been FOOLING YOU for the last 30 yrs. SOCIAL SECURITY*, (SS) , is NOT an entitlement! SS HAS A $2.6 TRILLION SURPLUS. SS CAN pay every claim at least until 2030.+ SS DOES NOT increase the federal budget by one cent! Tell the REPUBLICAN GANGSTERS & THEIR WALLSTREET BANDIT FRIENDS that you will FIGHT any PRIVATIZATION OF your SS pension._You will FIGHT ANY REDUCTION IN BENEFITS.~YOU will FIGHT any change in AGE REQUIREMENT FOR SS BENEFITS!
Social Security is a PONZI scheme NOT "insurance".
If your contributions REALLY are put aside for your retirement, the money is there earning interest, right? If your money is in your "account," what difference would it make if your neighbor chooses not to participate in the program?
The truth is that Social Security like all taxes is spent immediately to fund the federal government. Social Security is nothing more than an accounting ledger with no money.
@yakyakyak69 are you Rick Perry cuz if your not him than you dumb ass like him, I think Rick Perry is the dumbest human being that ever lived, and he might be gay too he only hides as married man but deep down Rick Perry is gay. If you are Rick Perry I feel sorry for you and then laugh at you. Rick Perry what a loser. Rick Perry in my book is a born loser he will accomplish nothing always a loser and will stay a loser
For the honest working folks who paid into social security for 40 years and were forced to do so, this is a cruel trick. Washington politicians promised us that if we'd just pay in back then, it would be here now when we wanted to retire. But now they're saying it's an entitlement from the government. No sir! We trusted bums like John McCain to protect our "retirement" money and what did these two-faced ratsnakes do? Embezzled our social security trust funds and spent it.
SS needs to be changed. What you do is make the SS account an INDIVIDUAL account (no one can steal it, not even the gov). As soon as a US citizen is born, they get assigned a individual SS account, fdic insured The individual can contribute up to 100 grand a year tax free, cannot touch it until they are 65. Family, friends would be encouraged to gift to the childs account. Employers SS contribution goes into this account. 65 years of savings would mean a great amount of money for retirement.
I sort of agree with the concept, but with SS currently set up as a Ponzi scheme...er, a pay as you go system, the money that current retirees invested is long gone. Their benefits have to come from somewhere thanks to good ol' FDR. Either we wean folks off SS slowly or let it go bust. First thing, I say we make it social insurance as the Dems want anyway. No SS benefits for anyone with over $50k/yr retirement income. They dont need the insurance. No new contributors; acct like you suggest
I see your point, but do you mean to suggest that people making over 50k be required to pay into a bankrupt SS program, and not get anything out? That changes SS from a entitlement program to a welfare program, something the US does not need. Maybe an OPT OUT for younger people, they recieve what they paid in, plus some small incentive into their individual SS account, they are disenrolled from regular SS. Politicians will not change this dinosaur program, they love stealing the money. Ciao!
SS was a bad idea from the get go, but that's water under the bridge now, because there are millions of retirees who depend on it. We're going to have to wean people off to get solvency. An opt out for anyone is perfect, but they will have to forego any/all benefits. I've contributed to SS for 10 yrs, but I'd drop out and forego all owed benefits in a heartbeat. Allow opt outs, lower the FICA tax, and stop paying to people who don't need the insurance. It's welfare anyway, why lie about it.
@oterj0: But you know it will never happen. Remember when Bush wanted to make a MINOR change to SS, to increase its solvency? The Demorats and special interest groups went on a terror suggesting Bush wanted grandma eating dogfood and crap like that. With an INDIVIDUAL SS ACCOUNT you would have 65 years of saving, and the politicians would not be allowed to steal it. Cheers!
Well, the Dems oppose anything with individual in it. They like pay as you go. What we have to do is convince them that certain people shouldn't get benefits. Once the number of people getting benefits goes down, support for the program wanes. As support wanes, then you can make those tough political choices to fix the problem. The first step is convincing the Dems to go along with stopping benefits altogether and/or slowing benefits increases for wealthy to decrease SS popularity.
@oterj0: Your first sentence says it all. The Demorats will never allow a change, their ideology would never permit it, totally inflexible. I think that a pilot program for Individual SS accounts would be a good start BUT, it will never happen. This country has become so unable to deal with huge problems inside its borders, the future looks very bleak. I see quality of life going down and down. SS is just a symptom, of a HUGE disease. cheers!
Unfortunately you may be right. I think there is one chance to fix SS, though. You have to start knocking people off the benefits roll. Once you get enough people off, the program loses appeal, then you can fix or eliminate it as needed. You have to play to libs' ideology, because it is inflexible. Their ideology says rich people should pay more and get less because they have. If we cut the upper incomes off SS benefit rolls slowly, the program will lose support. That's the only way.
Uh....Uh, I hate to say this, BUT, this country has become an inflexible dinosaur ruled by two corrupt parties, driven mainly by ideology. The Demorats are truly insane, but they are much better politicians that the Republirats. The Demorats are getting more and more of the country on their side. The Republirats are incomptent wimps who want to baby sit the world. Demorats will die before they let SS get dismantled or substantially changed. But at least we have Haiti and Afghanistan to babysit.
@oterj0 "Welfare states" like Sweden and Norway are doing great. They're not the ones on the verge of bankruptcy, USA is. And USA will collapse if we keep taking away more and more from the middle class and giving it to the richest people in this country.
Sorry, I guess I'm not following Sweden and Norway's economies that closely, though I suppose I should, because clearly they're the economic powerhouses of the world; tongue in cheek. Greece, Spain, and Portugal are examples of welfare states that are on the verge of bankruptcy (or already there). It's a question of matching funding with outlays. We are an anti-tax country, so we can't have all the lavish benefits others do. It's the voters' choice what type of country they want.
@oterj0 Norway and Sweden are doing helluva lot better than USA. They have the highest quality of life in the world. USA is barely top 10 or 15.
Funny how you only pay attention to the failed states like Greece overrun with corruption, but not the successful states like Finland or Norway.
And you know what other country is failing and on the verge of bankruptcy? USA. After 30 years of Reaganomics this is what you get. Go ahead and vote for it again, I don't care anymore. USA is done.
Right, because cutting taxes when rates are to the right of the Laffer curve as they were pre-Reagan tax cuts is what's making the US bankrupt. I know Reaganomics is a buzz word for you, but try to make arguments that make sense rather than using demagoguery.
We're on the verge of bankruptcy because we want low taxes and high spending. Either we raise taxes (and become a stagnant economy) or lower spending, otherwise, we will go bankrupt. Ignoring the SS time bomb does not help.
@oterj0 Tax cuts for the rich do not create jobs or economic growth. It is a buzzword for you, something that seems to make sense, but in really does the opposite.
Lowest taxes in USA in last 100 years were during the 1920s and 2000s. Highest taxes were from 1945 to 1970: the Golden Years of America, when we became a superpower.
Tax cuts for the rich create speculation, not jobs. Speculation creates bubbles, and bubbles always burst creating economic disasters. Exactly what just happened
You're arguing against things I never said. How do you figure it was high taxes that created economic prosperity in after WW2? We were the only developed country in the world that wasn't destroyed literally or financial in the war. We were the late-joiners who chose to end the war by killing lots of civilians rather than risk our own people and resources. We were the only place to do business post WW2 regardless of taxes. That was the source of our prosperity.
@oterj0 It doesn't really matter. Bottom line is this: from 1945 to 1970 USA had the highest marginal tax rates (between 70-85%) and those are the years when USA became a superpower. In 1920s and 2000s USA had the lowest marginal tax rates it has ever had, and those are the years the US economy collapsed.
I'm not saying the economic growth and collapse happened because of the tax policies. What I'm saying is that you are full of shit when you push your tax cuts for the rich garbage.
How about because our govt cant make that guarantee Constitutionally or logistically. Someone is going to get burned by SS. We can keep kicking the can down the road and making the consequences of its future failure worse or we can do something to fix it now. First, it's insurance, not a 401k; kick everyone who makes more than $50k/yr retirement income off benefit payroll. Second, no new contributors to system. End the Ponzi scheme with today's teenagers. Pay until you run out of "surplus"
First, marriage is not a right, but second, and more importantly, what are you replying to? We're talking about the ponzi scheme that is Social Security, not gay marriage.
I wish it were a joke, but it's real. The pay as you go system of SS is exactly what Charles Ponzi did to earn his name tied to scams such as Bernie Madoff's fund. SS is funded exactly the same way.
I'm not sure what I am "literally" falling for, but no one has tricked me into my beliefs about SS, it's just the facts. It's not a good program for me. Given my expectations of future income based on current and the system by which SS calculates benefits, I will be a donor in the system, assuming I even get my full owed benefits. Since I won't retire until after 2041 when the program runs through all of the trust fund, I fully expect to get even less. It's a crap program! Abolist it!
Do you even know what you're talking about? What exactly is a "corporate dictatorship"? Did your college professor tell you to say that? Don't listen to him, he sleeps with the co-eds in exchange for better grades.
Hugo Chavez arrests political opponents. He believes no one should oppose him because he's doing the "will of the people". Our buddy Joe402 believes people who want to privatize SS shouldn't be allowed to run for office. That's the reference.
Social Security is not a joke, it's a serious problem!!! And it's a big ass government sponsored Ponzi scheme! It works the same way, why it's not illegal? It will collapse and running out of the money just like a Ponzi scheme would, Madoff anyone????
rush limpballs licks ass. Mccain iz a old friut and republicans need to shut da fuck up already dey fucked up da u.s. in da first place now "dey know wats rite" fuck off
Where did you learn to write? I'm guessing in Miami public schools, another wonderful invention brought to us by socialists. The entitlement mentality in the US is what's eating us alive. The demand for SS, healthcare, education, whatever, without regard to ability to pay for these services. People need to start paying for what they want so we can change the culture in America. This problem was most certainly not created by the Reps.
The only people who should fear Obama is the working middle class--whether democrat, republican, or independent. Businesses will offset higher taxes and costs of mandatory healthcare by raising prices, hiring illegals, shipping jobs overseas, or cutting jobs. Once again, those on fixed income will be stuck with the bill for spreading the wealth. Have people forgotten who ended up paying for the no money down housing from Fannie Mae? There are no free pies!!!
If people were allowed to just take the amount of money that goes into Social Security, and put it into an index stock fund-- which is the simplest sort of investment, that is, it doesn't require any brains at all to do that-- a person who's retiring today would be getting (without taking one cent of taxes from anybody else) in the neighborhood of about eight thousand dollars a month.
McCain Voted for Bushs 2006 Social Security Privatization Plan. In 2006, McCain voted for the Social Security Reserve Fund. The proposal would shift Social Securitys annual surpluses into a reserve account that would be converted into risky private accounts. [SCR 83, Vote #68, 3/16/06; SCR 83, Vote #68, 3/16/06]
People - get grip. McCain never said he wants to privatize all of SSC, but rather, he wants people to be able to seek privatization of a portion of their SS accounts - ya know...CHOICE (something you'll vote away if you vote Obama). McCain is VERY bi-partisan on this issue and has clearly stated it on numerous occasions.
Let's also remember that the banking collapse was driven by bad MORTGAGES, not oil, not tech, not bio-med, not pharma. NOBODY would put 100% of the SS benefits in mortgages!
part of the reason SS has problems is because idiotic politicians keep raiding the fund for other things like continually financing 2 wars. One is necessary, the other is not. The hint as to which is credible?? It starts with the letter A!
Also, McSame and his temper just might instigate WWIII!
@xfiles Uh, the costs of the wars may hurt the budget, but, there is nothing in Social Security to raid. All monies from social security go into the General Fund for the budget, this money is used to make SS payments. Any excess IS SPENT, the Government issues special class SS t-bill to Social Security for the excess, money not used for SS payments. Basically the SS trust fund is worthless paper, no money in it, no gold, no silver, no priceless art.......just junk bonds.
May I have a moment of silence please! Dear Lord, thank you for not letting Bush/McCain in their infinite knowledge and EXPERIENCE privatize social security. Please Lord, bring the Republican party back into your light and truth. In Jesus's name, Amen!
McCain is another Bush and another Nixen and another Reagan and when Reagan and Nixen were Presidents they cost millions of Americans there Jobs and McCain only Married Cindy McCain for her Money plus McCain claims hes Christian but he ain't because the Bible says we cannot choose 2 Masters in Luke 16:13 it says you cannot Serve 2 Masters called God and Money but McCain chooses Money over God McCain is a Greedy Man and Greed is a sin and I myself am a Christian and I choose God God Bless the USA
Not necessarily. God forbid someone selected a candidate because of how they felt on a subject, only to find out that they changed their idea once elected. I understand why you would say that changing twice is bad, but changing once isn't any better
you actually make a really good point there. and i really wasn't trying to say that changing your mind is fine, i was just trying to say he wasn't flip flopping. but i do see that changing your mind on major issues is not any better.
the first video was taken way out of context. Senator McCain was about to say that privatization is necessary although he does not support it. I saw the video
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Glad John McCain finally got smart on the issue. BTW Flip-Flop means when someone goes back and fort on an issue. If you go one way that is not a flip flop but a change in ones position. Then there are hypocrites like AlGore who want you to stop emitting green house gases while he flies around on a private jet.
GoreBullWarming writes: "If you go one way that is not a flip flop but a change in ones position." -- Maybe if you do it ONCE, but if you do it OVER AND OVER, it's not so much a flip flop as a sex-change operation. More than that, if you say "I'm not for X, never have been, never will be," and then there's footage of you two years ago saying "We need X", then you're either (1) seriously in trouble with your memory, or (2) a liar. Or both.
It is amazing to me that you had to be corrected by Liberman in Iraq on the ground about where AlQeda was getting its training. You are truly as stupid as the average American. You are an embarrassment to your father the Proud Admiral. You know very little about anything.
Wesley Clark took 4 bullets from and AK-47 and that does not qualify him to be president, but his prolific academic achievements unlike yours does!!!!!!!
There is plenty of money for the American Social Programs. Stop the funding of foriegn nations. Stop International Lobby.
I believe there can be a better America with change. Former Republican Presidents all have the same, failing policies and actions. Too many foriegn comitments, and pay-out.
Now you're talking. In addition to a cessation of foreign aid, I say eliminate the IRS, BATF, DHS, and the ED. End the War on Drugs, make sure only legal American citizens are collecting on social programs, end congressional earmarking, and put restraining orders on lobbyists. I disagree with the "former Republican presidents" bit though. Republican and Democrat politicians are just two sides of the same coin.
I don't think Obama's been caught red-handed in a lie yet. He is, however, a nannystate liberal, which is enough reason for me to not vote for him. He wants "universal" healthcare, to pour countless billions into Africa, and to tax this fictional climate change problem out of existence. You Obama supporters had better start asking yourselves who's going to foot the bill for all these programs. YOU CAN'T RAISE TAXES FOREVER.
Actually African, there is still plenty of room to raise taxes. It's the Bush tax cuts that help contribute to the inflation we face today. Even Warren Buffet and Bill Gates say their taxes are too low. They get away with paying lower tax rates than most of their employees. Do you think that's fair? Is it right for billionaires to pay rates only slightly above the 15% capital gains rate? There is plenty of room to increase taxes on the wealthy.
Warren Buffet and Bill Gates are hypocrites in the truest sense of the word. Hypocrites voice opinions that they don't really hold. If they want to pay more taxes, nothing is stopping them from marching down to the state department and writing checks, but they don't, hmm....Whether or not it's "fair" doesn't count with me too much. Buffet and Gates employ people, so I say let them keep more of their money so they can employ more people. I say eliminate the income tax all together.
Hardly are they hypocrites. They are the two biggest philanthropists in the world - giving billions to noble causes - not the state department. You couldn't be more unfounded and wrong. Obama only raises taxes for 5% of Americans and cuts them for 95%, according to the independent Tax Policy Institute. But keep telling your lies . . . it's amusing.
If Gates and Buffet want to pay more taxes, then there is nothing on Earth stopping them. The fact that they say they want to pay more taxes coupled with the fact that they don't voluntarily do so makes them hypocrites. A hypocrite voices opinions they don't really hold.
Plus, your statement is logically wrong. You claim that because they are philanthropists, they can't be hypocrites. It makes no sense. Both can be true and are.
There is something mortally wrong with a society in which people can be that rich. The top 1/2 of 1% --richest people in the U.S. have more than the lowest 50%. Kill and eat the rich ALL the rich, repugs and democrats. Todays pig is tomorrows bacon.
Yes, I think the government should take all of the rich people's money. People will start starving to death like they did in Communist Russia, but at least we'll have a nice fat powerful government to mail us all checks of worthless money for the same amount every week.
Oh boy are YOU barking up the wrong tree. I hate neocons more than communists - you need to examine my comments on this vid more closely. So what ARE you two suggesting then? You are a liberal; you hate rich people, that much is given. So if you're not suggesting that the government take their money, what then?
You libbos swore all up and down that Bush was going to do that...turns out the legislation to reinstate the draft was introduced into Congress by a Democrat. In short, it's only the Dems talking about a draft.
Seriously. Walk up to a liberal and say "Hello. I own several guns, I'm home-schooling my kids, I hate paying income taxes, and I'd like to depend on my own savings when I retire." It's like you're speaking another language. Liberals think that individualism is having a weird haircut and wearing Che T-shirts.
Better than the alternative. A generation of brainwashed little automatons who think that the only reason to go to work is to sustain the government. :)
Do you realize how idiotic that statement is ABS? What is the motivation to go to work, bust your ass every day, subvert your whole life to the will of some rich SOB, knowing that the ecconomy can turn to compost at any time, leaving you to scavenge for a living? With SS in place, a working man can know that there is hope for a retirement, no matter how much of the wealth of the nation the rich are able to steal from under us. The alternative is revolution. Read French history.
Goodness, you're dramatic. I know you hate rich people, but you really have to ask yourself what would hurt this country more - if the million richest people moved away or if the million poorest people moved away. I will agree with you on the revolution part though. Eventually some Democrat or some treasonous neocon will have us paying half of our income to sustain the government instead of 25%. I say again to you Dems and you gullible Republicans - you can't raise taxes forever.
Let them go. We could re-impose tariffs and tax them for doing business here. Why aren't the greedy little piggies gone already? Could it be that anyplace else where a rich person would want to live taxes even more heavily trhan we do, and still manages to eat our lunch industrially? If we taxed the crap that WalMart imports from China so that it cost the same for labor, it might actually be cheaper to make stuff here again.
The past generations that you young snivellers are complaining about supporting built the infrastructure that you are parasitisiing and then leaving to rot. You owe us, fool. Stop snivelling.
We reward illegals with tax breaks, govt funded programs and health care and expect the actual workers of this country to support the sick, lame and lazy while our own govt continues to create more programs for everyone else buy Americans. More govt is not the answer, individual and govt accountability is the answer and we should demand that each and every govt program have a financial plan to actually pay for itself without new taxes. If we can't fund existing programs, they need trimming.
Old and disabled people deserve respect for the contributions that they or they familes make. Letting ther selfish little snots opt out just makes more money available to build physicval plant in Mexico or China. that's always been the problem.
Yes, and nobody's suggesting that it be taken away. It should be paid out to those who have contributed, and those who don't want to contribute can opt out then sink or swim. You want to pay in, you deal with the fact that it'll be bankrupt in a few decades. Honestly, don't you have a Wal-Mart protest to attend?
It will not be bankrupt unless diaper-wetters like you are allowed to opt out, and that ain't gonna happen if the grown-ups take the government back this election, as we look poised to do.
This has zero to do with respect and everything to do with our govt actually spending that money on other things. Our govt is the reason that social security will fail. Having people to continue to contribute to something that will not work is un-American! Our govt owes past generations that money, however only if they gave in. New generations deserve better and our govt can't deliver.
I believe both sides agree that social security is about to fail in the near future. To ignore this and continue the same is foolish. Like changing the retirement package at a auto plant, younger workers could be given a choice to opt out. It's not about owing something to a previous generation, its about saving a program and streamlining its costs and changing with the future. I don't trust a govt fix, I would like to demand a business solution with a proven fix.
If they are given the option to opt out, a lot of the young fools who still think Reagan brought us prosperity will lose their shirts investing in companies that are now selling their jobs to Mexico. Then we're all screwed.
I say let them, as long as they don't come crying back expecting another govt handout! Honestly, why in the hell don't we actually teach something like this in school that would only help the youth become more wealthy? We try to teach parenting skills, however nothing about becoming wealthy! Congress allows more higher paying jobs via H2B visas in this country from foreign countries than it ever has and our own Americans are simply skipped over for the $100K paying jobs = pathetic!
Pinkosarge doesn't understand that. Social security is a sinking ship, but that doesn't register on the Collective's sensors. Because we want to fund our own retirement, we want the Baby Boomers to starve to death. The truth is, by the time they're all dead, social security will be bankrupt - unless of course we start seizing massive amounts of private assets or overtaxing the wicked rich just as the pinkos like leftysarge want us to.
It is not sinking. It is being borrowed by an idiot who thinks that Ronald Reagan was right when he said that deficiets don't matter. That shows him to have a learning disorder. Blackwater and KBR are getting rich from money borrowed from the system. Why shouldn't they pay it back? (Actually, there is no excuse for Blackwater to exist.) Just remove the cap, lower the rate on the FICA tax and the system will work better than it did before and be less a burden on productive people.
I bet if you asked the baby boomers if Americans could come up with a better idea they would agree, however when that idea involves social security then they all get worried. Social security was never intended to provide 100% retirement and yet this is the thoughts of many. Supplemental, not 100%! Forcing us to give to a broken problem is not the answer. If you want a quick answer, blame those that spent YOUR money!
By the way, it's really funny to hear liberals tell me that it "isn't my money" that's going to the government. So it must not have been me that woke up this morning and worked for 8 hours - it was the government - of course, that's why it "isn't my money." Folks, you'd better wake up and realize that this is how liberals think: that every dime in your bank account is just what the government was nice enough to let you keep, and you have no right to take issue with how it's spent.
Look, buttmunch, if government didn't provide the infrastructure to allow vcommerce and manufacturing, and provide the public safety infrasructure, and educate the work force, you wouldn't have much in the way of money, anyway. You're exploiting the infrastructure and whining about paying into. Stop being such a right-wing snivelling baby. You used the utility that government provided, so pay you damned utility bill and act like a real man.
The infastructure is what state and federal income tax, Sales tax, Gas tax, Property tax Gift tax, Luxury taxes, Telephone federal excise tax, Vehicle Registration Fees, U.S. excise tax, and piles of coporate taxes pay for. Imagine how much more we could pay for if we weren't spending so much money blowing things up and rebuilding them in the middle east. By the way, most people who use(and abuse) the government programs don't contribute nearly as much as what they take from them.
Another pant-pissing liberal pansy. Government may provide a place for these things to happen, but just using your examples, the private sector can provide a better workplace and a better education for kids if you opt to do so. If I'm sending my kids to a private school, why should my taxes go towards public schools? If I promise not to use social security, why tax me for it? I know you think that means I want WW2 vets to starve to death, but I really just want to be left alone by Uncle Sam.
Screw your larvae. Publiic education and a generous GI Bill between WWII and the end of the Vietnam war created the wealth that they are sponging off of. You arer benefitting from the system so be a man and stop snivelling. Stop using our infrastructure if you don't want to pay it back. Most of the New Deal came about because private industry did nothing right. They couldn't even produce an affordable power grid outside the cities.
"Stop using our infrastructure if you don't want to pay it back."
Already argued yourself into a corner. You got yourself a deal. Stop taxing me for social security, I'll worry about my own retirement. Stop taxing me for government schools, I'll worry about my own kids' education. Cut the millions of government jobs Bush added, I'll worry about my own income. Stop "spreading democracy" overseas, I'll worry about protecting myself.
You are here, you are earning money, you are using the infrastructure. Pay for it or go someplace where we haven't built infrastructure. Zimbabwe seems a good candidate.
All of the snivelling little Republican twits posting to this subject seem to think that they owe nothing to anybody else. Well, you're wrong, droolers. Man cannot ewxit in a fully human state as just a bunch of individuals. That was what got us off the African savanas. The fossil record shows it. Today's kids are whining about giving back part of what they earned to support workers who came before them. TOUGH! You wouldn't have diddly without the work of the WWII generation. Butch up.
A good definition of a lunatic is one who repeats the same act and expects a different outcome. The Fascist Plan for Social Security didn't work when Friedman and his trained monkeys introduced it to Chile under Pinochet and i am not about to let some moron try it here.
I hope he privatizes social security. It's one of the most flawed governmental takeovers in our country's history. Kids, that's what Liberalism gets you.
Social Security is the most successful & efficient program ever created by the US government (with smaller administrative costs than any other agency).
It's saved millions of older Americans from poverty. It wasn't a "government takeover" - there was no national retirement insurance system when Democrat Franklin Roosevelt created Social Security in the 1930s.
SS is retirement insurance. You pay into it while you're working, and receive benefits when you retire.
Yeah, and it's only worked well for, what, 75 years? It's only one of the most popular govt programs. It's only consistantly strongly supported by a majority of Americans. By all means, lets get rid of soc sec, and have more successful govt programs like abstinence only.
I disagree! Let's vote for a group of liars who have consistently betrayed conservative values!
Seriously, what are you so afraid of if a "liberal" is elected? That he might start some bullshit war? Or borrow an unprecedented amount of money from China? Or turn another country into a welfare queen a la Iraq? Or triple the price of gas? Or violate the same Geneva conventions that we created in the wake of the Nazis?
I mean, really, with a straight face tell us what exactly are you afraid of?
Well it's really quite simple. All those things you mentioned are contributing to and ramping up the level of hostility that directly causes death and distruction in this world today. But if conservatives can stop a couple of gays from getting married or stop some poor suffering sole from using marijuana to help with pain and nausea, they'll feel that they've done their bit for humanity.
You're bringing up the fundamental divide between neocons and paleocons. Neocons are ostensibly conservative, but they love government spending and the size of government, both of which Bush doubled. Paleocons want smaller government, less government spending, a cessation of foreign aid both financial and military, a return to state's rights, and most of us don't care if you smoke weed and kiss boys. The Bush presidency was a joke, and anyone that votes for either McCain or Obama is a schmuck.
Anyone who votes for neither McCain nor Obama is voting for McSame. The elections are still going to be diddled in some places and it will take a massive Obama turnout to overwhelm that rigging. Ron Paul is not going to be president, legally, ever. Get over it. Nader and McKinney are buffoons.
search "the century of the self" by the BBC and see that our problems don't stem from government itself, but from the people who have been manipulating government.
wow someone changes there stance after 4 years time, not uncommon in the human world, i don't know about you robots though? no not common among you? you stand on an issue despite an economic recession? (oh and the prez has limited influence on the economy, were not totalitarians after all morons.)
Liberals have no concepts of free market and checks and balances. They think the president can wave a wand and fix the economy, gas prices, healthcare and polar bears. The fact is that the private sector outperforms the government in everything except collecting taxes. Just look at Hurricane Katrina - Home Depot was there before FEMA was. Government is a cancer that neocons and liberals are causing to spread out of control.
government is not a cancer, the cancers are the PR companies and corporations who influence corrupt politicians to make the wrong decisions and overthrow governments in THEIR interest and not ours.
And there is a documented case of that where? Thought so. Corporate interests are the basis for all economic systems anymore. Don't like it? Move to Cuba, I'm sure you won't have problems with "money-grubbing" corporations there.
Chrono, corporations think they rule, but they are a creation of the state and the state can do away with them if they get to be too dangerous. The myth of corporate personhood was the result of a clerk of the Supreme Court diddling the records. That's why I do not want McSame appointing any judge ever anywhere. Get over your stupid idea that capital creates wealth. Labor creates wealth. Capital is just an inconvenient way to keep track of who owes whom for their labor.
No, CapitalISM creates wealth. Labor does, too, but not the governmentally-induced socialist labor you're advocating. Just look at Soviet Russia. And your Supreme Court theory? Please. You're not a logical thinker at all; no, you're nothing more than a rambling conspiracy theorist. Despite abandoning Conservative principles, John McCain will do one thing: Appoint judges that aren't radical activists who will uproot the Constitution and will of the people.
Home depot was in NO for the people with money. FEMA was there for the subcontractors to make money hauling supplies ibn a circle. FEMA works when you don't have anti-government twits running it.
Ever notice their utilization of the term "big government" in a negative light when referring to programs beneficial to the citizenry; however "big government" relative to perpetual wars inspire no such consideration. Cha-ching...suckers
Oh, my heart is bleeding. "Rich neocons" don't have to depend on Social Security because they made sound financial choices in their lives, which of course is anathema to liberals. Liberals want a cradle to grave government nanny, and think that achievement should be punished. If you haven't saved enough when it's time for you to retire, blame yourself instead of the mean old rich people that did. You want to jerk off your whole life and have others fund your retirement, move to Britain.
I don't consider people who work 60+ hours their whole life at up to 4 jobs a week to raise their children "jerking off" - if you believe all people who are poor are lazy, youre very naive.
... hard working does not always translate to BIG money - and no one deserves to live in poverty, especially our parents, our grandparents, weather they earned a paycheck my serving you breakfast, washing your car, or teaching your preschooler - each job deserves respect - each person has value and every American deserves to live out there last years in this world with dignity & some comfort.
No, hard working doesn't always equal "big money", and I never said all poor people are lazy. However, you can start putting money into an IRA in your twenties and retire a millionaire for very little money anually. What I'm saying is that if you're smart with you're money, NOBODY has to depend on social security. But of course, liberals hate the idea of personal responsibility - no, the only thing you can ever be held accountable for in the liberal mind is your carbon footprint.

BeadStallcup 1 year ago
SS needs to be changed. What you do is make the SS account an INDIVIDUAL account (no one can steal it, not even the gov). As soon as a US citizen is born, they get assigned a individual SS account, fdic insured The individual can contribute up to 100 grand a year tax free, cannot touch it until they are 65. Family, friends would be encouraged to gift to the childs account. Employers SS contribution goes into this account. 65 years of savings would mean a great amount of money for retirement.
tickyul 2 years ago
I sort of agree with the concept, but with SS currently set up as a Ponzi scheme...er, a pay as you go system, the money that current retirees invested is long gone. Their benefits have to come from somewhere thanks to good ol' FDR. Either we wean folks off SS slowly or let it go bust. First thing, I say we make it social insurance as the Dems want anyway. No SS benefits for anyone with over $50k/yr retirement income. They dont need the insurance. No new contributors; acct like you suggest
oterj0 2 years ago
I see your point, but do you mean to suggest that people making over 50k be required to pay into a bankrupt SS program, and not get anything out? That changes SS from a entitlement program to a welfare program, something the US does not need. Maybe an OPT OUT for younger people, they recieve what they paid in, plus some small incentive into their individual SS account, they are disenrolled from regular SS. Politicians will not change this dinosaur program, they love stealing the money. Ciao!
tickyul 2 years ago
SS was a bad idea from the get go, but that's water under the bridge now, because there are millions of retirees who depend on it. We're going to have to wean people off to get solvency. An opt out for anyone is perfect, but they will have to forego any/all benefits. I've contributed to SS for 10 yrs, but I'd drop out and forego all owed benefits in a heartbeat. Allow opt outs, lower the FICA tax, and stop paying to people who don't need the insurance. It's welfare anyway, why lie about it.
oterj0 2 years ago
@oterj0: But you know it will never happen. Remember when Bush wanted to make a MINOR change to SS, to increase its solvency? The Demorats and special interest groups went on a terror suggesting Bush wanted grandma eating dogfood and crap like that. With an INDIVIDUAL SS ACCOUNT you would have 65 years of saving, and the politicians would not be allowed to steal it. Cheers!
tickyul 2 years ago
Well, the Dems oppose anything with individual in it. They like pay as you go. What we have to do is convince them that certain people shouldn't get benefits. Once the number of people getting benefits goes down, support for the program wanes. As support wanes, then you can make those tough political choices to fix the problem. The first step is convincing the Dems to go along with stopping benefits altogether and/or slowing benefits increases for wealthy to decrease SS popularity.
oterj0 2 years ago
@oterj0: Your first sentence says it all. The Demorats will never allow a change, their ideology would never permit it, totally inflexible. I think that a pilot program for Individual SS accounts would be a good start BUT, it will never happen. This country has become so unable to deal with huge problems inside its borders, the future looks very bleak. I see quality of life going down and down. SS is just a symptom, of a HUGE disease. cheers!
tickyul 2 years ago
Unfortunately you may be right. I think there is one chance to fix SS, though. You have to start knocking people off the benefits roll. Once you get enough people off, the program loses appeal, then you can fix or eliminate it as needed. You have to play to libs' ideology, because it is inflexible. Their ideology says rich people should pay more and get less because they have. If we cut the upper incomes off SS benefit rolls slowly, the program will lose support. That's the only way.
oterj0 2 years ago

And USA will collapse if we keep taking away more and more from the middle class and giving it to the richest people in this country.
normalais 1 year ago
@normalais
It's the voters' choice what type of country they want.
oterj0 1 year ago
@oterj0 Norway and Sweden are doing helluva lot better than USA. They have the highest quality of life in the world. USA is barely top 10 or 15.
Funny how you only pay attention to the failed states like Greece overrun with corruption, but not the successful states like Finland or Norway.
And you know what other country is failing and on the verge of bankruptcy? USA. After 30 years of Reaganomics this is what you get. Go ahead and vote for it again, I don't care anymore. USA is done.
normalais 1 year ago
@normalais
Ignoring the SS time bomb does not help.
oterj0 1 year ago
@oterj0 Tax cuts for the rich do not create jobs or economic growth. It is a buzzword for you, something that seems to make sense, but in really does the opposite.
Lowest taxes in USA in last 100 years were during the 1920s and 2000s. Highest taxes were from 1945 to 1970: the Golden Years of America, when we became a superpower.
Tax cuts for the rich create speculation, not jobs. Speculation creates bubbles, and bubbles always burst creating economic disasters. Exactly what just happened
normalais 1 year ago
@normalais
That was the source of our prosperity.
oterj0 1 year ago
@oterj0 It doesn't really matter. Bottom line is this: from 1945 to 1970 USA had the highest marginal tax rates (between 70-85%) and those are the years when USA became a superpower. In 1920s and 2000s USA had the lowest marginal tax rates it has ever had, and those are the years the US economy collapsed.
I'm not saying the economic growth and collapse happened because of the tax policies. What I'm saying is that you are full of shit when you push your tax cuts for the rich garbage.

Abolist it!

Hugo Chavez arrests political opponents. He believes no one should oppose him because he's doing the "will of the people". Our buddy Joe402 believes people who want to privatize SS shouldn't be allowed to run for office. That's the reference.

If people were allowed to just take the amount of money that goes into Social Security, and put it into an index stock fund-- which is the simplest sort of investment, that is, it doesn't require any brains at all to do that-- a person who's retiring today would be getting (without taking one cent of taxes from anybody else) in the neighborhood of about eight thousand dollars a month.

NOBODY would put 100% of the SS benefits in mortgages!

xfiles 3 years ago
@xfiles Uh, the costs of the wars may hurt the budget, but, there is nothing in Social Security to raid. All monies from social security go into the General Fund for the budget, this money is used to make SS payments. Any excess IS SPENT, the Government issues special class SS t-bill to Social Security for the excess, money not used for SS payments. Zeldovich 3 years ago
AfricanButtScratcha 3 years ago
Actually African, there is still plenty of room to raise taxes. It's the Bush tax cuts that help contribute to the inflation we face today. Even Warren Buffet and Bill Gates say their taxes are too low. They get away with paying lower tax rates than most of their employees. Do you think that's fair? Is it right for billionaires to pay rates only slightly above the 15% capital gains rate? There is plenty of room to increase taxes on the wealthy.
Zeldovich 3 years ago
Warren Buffet and Bill Gates are hypocrites in the truest sense of the word. Hypocrites voice opinions that they don't really hold. If they want to pay more taxes, nothing is stopping them from marching down to the state department and writing checks, but they don't, hmm....Whether or not it's "fair" doesn't count with me too much. Buffet and Gates employ people, so I say let them keep more of their money so they can employ more people. I say eliminate the income tax all together.
AfricanButtScratcha 3 years ago
African:
Hardly are they hypocrites. They are the two biggest philanthropists in the world - giving billions to noble causes - not the state department. You couldn't be more unfounded and wrong. Obama only raises taxes for 5% of Americans and cuts them for 95%, according to the independent Tax Policy Institute. But keep telling your lies . . . it's amusing.
rjhunt14 3 years ago
What lie did I tell? o_O
AfricanButtScratcha 3 years ago
Oh, and lest we all forget, the money that Gates and Buffet donate to charity can largely be written off on their taxes. Hmm........

Yes, I think the government should take all of the rich people's money. People will start starving to death like they did in Communist Russia, but at least we'll have a nice fat powerful government to mail us all checks of worthless money for the same amount every week.
AfricanButtScratcha 3 years ago 2
That's not what fwhamill was suggesting.
It's so predictably neocon to call anyone who doesn't like how obscenely rich some people are a "communist".
TheMonolith 3 years ago
Oh boy are YOU barking up the wrong tree. I hate neocons more than communists - you need to examine my comments on this vid more closely. So what ARE you two suggesting then? You are a liberal; you hate rich people, that much is given. So if you're not suggesting that the government take their money, what then?
AfricanButtScratcha 3 years ago
You libbos swore all up and down that Bush was going to do that...turns out the legislation to reinstate the draft was introduced into Congress by a Democrat. In short, it's only the Dems talking about a draft.

We don't need a liberal wing of the Democratic party. We just need a broken record that says "raise taxes!...*skp* raise taxes!...*skp*"
AfricanButtScratcha 3 years ago
AfricanButtScratcha 3 years ago
Too bad about the home schooling. That means another generation of concieted little maggots who think they shit wealth.
leftysergeant 3 years ago
Better than the alternative. A generation of brainwashed little automatons who think that the only reason to go to work is to sustain the government. :)
AfricanButtScratcha 3 years ago
Do you realize how idiotic that statement is ABS? What is the motivation to go to work, bust your ass every day, subvert your whole life to the will of some rich SOB, knowing that the ecconomy can turn to compost at any time, leaving you to scavenge for a living? With SS in place, a working man can know that there is hope for a retirement, no matter how much of the wealth of the nation the rich are able to steal from under us. The alternative is revolution. Read French history.
leftysergeant 3 years ago
Goodness, you're dramatic. I know you hate rich people, but you really have to ask yourself what would hurt this country more - if the million richest people moved away or if the million poorest people moved away. I will agree with you on the revolution part though. Eventually some Democrat or some treasonous neocon will have us paying half of our income to sustain the government instead of 25%. I say again to you Dems and you gullible Republicans - you can't raise taxes forever.
AfricanButtScratcha 3 years ago
Let them go. We could re-impose tariffs and tax them for doing business here. Why aren't the greedy little piggies gone already? Could it be that anyplace else where a rich person would want to live taxes even more heavily trhan we do, and still manages to eat our lunch industrially? If we taxed the crap that WalMart imports from China so that it cost the same for labor, it might actually be cheaper to make stuff here again.
leftysergeant 3 years ago
The past generations that you young snivellers are complaining about supporting built the infrastructure that you are parasitisiing and then leaving to rot. You owe us, fool. Stop snivelling.
leftysergeant 3 years ago
We reward illegals with tax breaks, govt funded programs and health care and expect the actual workers of this country to support the sick, lame and lazy while our own govt continues to create more programs for everyone else buy Americans. More govt is not the answer, individual and govt accountability is the answer and we should demand that each and every govt program have a financial plan to actually pay for itself without new taxes. If we can't fund existing programs, they need trimming.
armyofonerd 3 years ago
Old and disabled people deserve respect for the contributions that they or they familes make. Letting ther selfish little snots opt out just makes more money available to build physicval plant in Mexico or China. that's always been the problem.
leftysergeant 3 years ago
Yes, and nobody's suggesting that it be taken away. It should be paid out to those who have contributed, and those who don't want to contribute can opt out then sink or swim. You want to pay in, you deal with the fact that it'll be bankrupt in a few decades. Honestly, don't you have a Wal-Mart protest to attend?
AfricanButtScratcha 3 years ago
It will not be bankrupt unless diaper-wetters like you are allowed to opt out, and that ain't gonna happen if the grown-ups take the government back this election, as we look poised to do.
leftysergeant 3 years ago
This has zero to do with respect and everything to do with our govt actually spending that money on other things. Our govt is the reason that social security will fail. Having people to continue to contribute to something that will not work is un-American! Our govt owes past generations that money, however only if they gave in. New generations deserve better and our govt can't deliver.
armyofonerd 3 years ago
I believe both sides agree that social security is about to fail in the near future. To ignore this and continue the same is foolish. Like changing the retirement package at a auto plant, younger workers could be given a choice to opt out. It's not about owing something to a previous generation, its about saving a program and streamlining its costs and changing with the future. I don't trust a govt fix, I would like to demand a business solution with a proven fix.
armyofonerd 3 years ago
If they are given the option to opt out, a lot of the young fools who still think Reagan brought us prosperity will lose their shirts investing in companies that are now selling their jobs to Mexico. Then we're all screwed.
leftysergeant 3 years ago
I say let them, as long as they don't come crying back expecting another govt handout! Honestly, why in the hell don't we actually teach something like this in school that would only help the youth become more wealthy? We try to teach parenting skills, however nothing about becoming wealthy! Congress allows more higher paying jobs via H2B visas in this country from foreign countries than it ever has and our own Americans are simply skipped over for the $100K paying jobs = pathetic!
armyofonerd 3 years ago
Pinkosarge doesn't understand that. Social security is a sinking ship, but that doesn't register on the Collective's sensors. Because we want to fund our own retirement, we want the Baby Boomers to starve to death. The truth is, by the time they're all dead, social security will be bankrupt - unless of course we start seizing massive amounts of private assets or overtaxing the wicked rich just as the pinkos like leftysarge want us to.
AfricanButtScratcha 3 years ago
It is not sinking. It is being borrowed by an idiot who thinks that Ronald Reagan was right when he said that deficiets don't matter. That shows him to have a learning disorder. Blackwater and KBR are getting rich from money borrowed from the system. Why shouldn't they pay it back? (Actually, there is no excuse for Blackwater to exist.) Just remove the cap, lower the rate on the FICA tax and the system will work better than it did before and be less a burden on productive people.
leftysergeant 3 years ago
I bet if you asked the baby boomers if Americans could come up with a better idea they would agree, however when that idea involves social security then they all get worried. Social security was never intended to provide 100% retirement and yet this is the thoughts of many. Supplemental, not 100%! Forcing us to give to a broken problem is not the answer. If you want a quick answer, blame those that spent YOUR money!
armyofonerd 3 years ago
By the way, it's really funny to hear liberals tell me that it "isn't my money" that's going to the government. So it must not have been me that woke up this morning and worked for 8 hours - it was the government - of course, that's why it "isn't my money." Folks, you'd better wake up and realize that this is how liberals think: that every dime in your bank account is just what the government was nice enough to let you keep, and you have no right to take issue with how it's spent.
AfricanButtScratcha 3 years ago
Look, buttmunch, if government didn't provide the infrastructure to allow vcommerce and manufacturing, and provide the public safety infrasructure, and educate the work force, you wouldn't have much in the way of money, anyway. You're exploiting the infrastructure and whining about paying into. Stop being such a right-wing snivelling baby. You used the utility that government provided, so pay you damned utility bill and act like a real man.
leftysergeant 3 years ago
The infastructure is what state and federal income tax, Sales tax, Gas tax, Property tax Gift tax, Luxury taxes, Telephone federal excise tax, Vehicle Registration Fees, U.S. excise tax, and piles of coporate taxes pay for. Imagine how much more we could pay for if we weren't spending so much money blowing things up and rebuilding them in the middle east. By the way, most people who use(and abuse) the government programs don't contribute nearly as much as what they take from them.
tsycear 3 years ago
Another pant-pissing liberal pansy. Government may provide a place for these things to happen, but just using your examples, the private sector can provide a better workplace and a better education for kids if you opt to do so. If I'm sending my kids to a private school, why should my taxes go towards public schools? If I promise not to use social security, why tax me for it? I know you think that means I want WW2 vets to starve to death, but I really just want to be left alone by Uncle Sam.
AfricanButtScratcha 3 years ago
Screw your larvae. Publiic education and a generous GI Bill between WWII and the end of the Vietnam war created the wealth that they are sponging off of. You arer benefitting from the system so be a man and stop snivelling. Stop using our infrastructure if you don't want to pay it back. Most of the New Deal came about because private industry did nothing right. They couldn't even produce an affordable power grid outside the cities.
leftysergeant 3 years ago
"Stop using our infrastructure if you don't want to pay it back."
Already argued yourself into a corner. You got yourself a deal. Stop taxing me for social security, I'll worry about my own retirement. Stop taxing me for government schools, I'll worry about my own kids' education. Cut the millions of government jobs Bush added, I'll worry about my own income. Stop "spreading democracy" overseas, I'll worry about protecting myself.
AfricanButtScratcha 3 years ago
You are here, you are earning money, you are using the infrastructure. Pay for it or go someplace where we haven't built infrastructure. Zimbabwe seems a good candidate.

Butch up.

leftysergeant 3 years ago
I hope he privatizes social security. It's one of the most flawed governmental takeovers in our country's history. Kids, that's what Liberalism gets you.
chronotriggerfan 3 years ago
Social Security is the most successful & efficient program ever created by the US government (with smaller administrative costs than any other agency).
It's saved millions of older Americans from poverty. It wasn't a "government takeover" - there was no national retirement insurance system when Democrat Franklin Roosevelt created Social Security in the 1930s.
SS is retirement insurance. You pay into it while you're working, and receive benefits when you retire.
MaximusNYC 3 years ago
Yeah, and it's only worked well for, what, 75 years? It's only one of the most popular govt programs. It's only consistantly strongly supported by a majority of Americans. By all means, lets get rid of soc sec, and have more successful govt programs like abstinence only.

GojiraDeMonstah 3 years ago
Well it's really quite simple. All those things you mentioned are contributing to and ramping up the level of hostility that directly causes death and distruction in this world today. But if conservatives can stop a couple of gays from getting married or stop some poor suffering sole from using marijuana to help with pain and nausea, they'll feel that they've done their bit for humanity.
mickeysears 3 years ago
You're bringing up the fundamental divide between neocons and paleocons. Neocons are ostensibly conservative, but they love government spending and the size of government, both of which Bush doubled. Paleocons want smaller government, less government spending, a cessation of foreign aid both financial and military, a return to state's rights, and most of us don't care if you smoke weed and kiss boys. The Bush presidency was a joke, and anyone that votes for either McCain or Obama is a schmuck.
AfricanButtScratcha 3 years ago
Anyone who votes for neither McCain nor Obama is voting for McSame. The elections are still going to be diddled in some places and it will take a massive Obama turnout to overwhelm that rigging. Ron Paul is not going to be president, legally, ever. Get over it. Nader and McKinney are buffoons.

jhicks1289 3 years ago
Liberals have no concepts of free market and checks and balances. They think the president can wave a wand and fix the economy, gas prices, healthcare and polar bears. The fact is that the private sector outperforms the government in everything except collecting taxes. Just look at Hurricane Katrina - Home Depot was there before FEMA was. Government is a cancer that neocons and liberals are causing to spread out of control.
AfricanButtScratcha 3 years ago
government is not a cancer, the cancers are the PR companies and corporations who influence corrupt politicians to make the wrong decisions and overthrow governments in THEIR interest and not ours.
pseudolover 3 years ago
And there is a documented case of that where? Thought so. Corporate interests are the basis for all economic systems anymore. Don't like it? Move to Cuba, I'm sure you won't have problems with "money-grubbing" corporations there.
chronotriggerfan 3 years ago
Chrono, corporations think they rule, but they are a creation of the state and the state can do away with them if they get to be too dangerous. The myth of corporate personhood was the result of a clerk of the Supreme Court diddling the records. That's why I do not want McSame appointing any judge ever anywhere. Get over your stupid idea that capital creates wealth. Labor creates wealth. Capital is just an inconvenient way to keep track of who owes whom for their labor.
leftysergeant 3 years ago
No, CapitalISM creates wealth. Labor does, too, but not the governmentally-induced socialist labor you're advocating. Just look at Soviet Russia. And your Supreme Court theory? Please. You're not a logical thinker at all; no, you're nothing more than a rambling conspiracy theorist. Despite abandoning Conservative principles, John McCain will do one thing: Appoint judges that aren't radical activists who will uproot the Constitution and will of the people.
chronotriggerfan 3 years ago
Home depot was in NO for the people with money. FEMA was there for the subcontractors to make money hauling supplies ibn a circle. FEMA works when you don't have anti-government twits running it.

its rich neocons to talk about privatizing SS being a good idea when they dont have to depend on it to pay his rent every month.
geekxlove81 3 years ago
Oh, my heart is bleeding. "Rich neocons" don't have to depend on Social Security because they made sound financial choices in their lives, which of course is anathema to liberals. Liberals want a cradle to grave government nanny, and think that achievement should be punished. If you haven't saved enough when it's time for you to retire, blame yourself instead of the mean old rich people that did. You want to jerk off your whole life and have others fund your retirement, move to Britain.
AfricanButtScratcha 3 years ago
I don't consider people who work 60+ hours their whole life at up to 4 jobs a week to raise their children "jerking off" - if you believe all people who are poor are lazy, youre very naive.
geekxlove81 3 years ago
... hard working does not always translate to BIG money - and no one deserves to live in poverty, especially our parents, our grandparents, weather they earned a paycheck my serving you breakfast, washing your car, or teaching your preschooler - each job deserves respect - each person has value and every American deserves to live out there last years in this world with dignity & some comfort.
geekxlove81 3 years ago
No, hard working doesn't always equal "big money", and I never said all poor people are lazy. However, you can start putting money into an IRA in your twenties and retire a millionaire for very little money anually. What I'm saying is that if you're smart with you're money, NOBODY has to depend on social security. But of course, liberals hate the idea of personal responsibility - no, the only thing you can ever be held accountable for in the liberal mind is your carbon footprint.
AfricanButtScratcha 3 years ago
we all pay into SS - you work, you pay into it. Its not a charity.
