Oh hai! Have you thought about the intellitus cash system (google it)? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my sister made a ton of money with it.
if they done that in America they would be locked up for terrorisim! Eco terrorists they would be branded. If i was driving one of those trucks and some asshole chained himself to the radiator I would still be driving around with the asshole protester chained to the truck like some mascot on a garbage truck!

What a bunch of Dumbasses! So tell me greenpeace, how much fuel did your heli consume? or the nice smart 4x4 trucks you have there? Hmm? Or how about the method of transport you chose to get to the mine in the first place, eh? Or the nice big sign you made up, which most likely is made of PLASTIC!!! IN FACT YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT YOURE DOING, DO YOU GOODERS? Youre lucky I wasnt there driving a truck or a shovel as I wouldve run you over flat!!
@judderman37 Oh c'mon! The oil they use in the trucks and helicopters for this one publicity stunt is NEGLIBLE compared to the oil consumption of the planet and of the damage being done by the oil tar sands operation. If they spend a little bit of oil to create mass awareness to try and stop it, it is worth. Besides, what would you have them do, ride bikes? Walk hundreds of miles? The only way to stop this is to stop consumer demand. The only way to do that is to create awareness, which they do.
@SuperAnimalDrummer hey man it's a resource that would do damage even if was never used. it's placed here for us to use not to lay fallow and still be dangerous.
@thebaronCGN electric vehicles really only relocate pollution if it can be considered that. vehicles are a red herring they only use 20% of energy consumed in the usa, hoever they are the most visible hence most attacked. more than 90% of the output of the tailpipe on a motor vehicle is water vapor.
@steve02008 If it was your mother or father or child dying of cholangiocarcinoma because Wal Mart sells poisonous food and water products them and it was the ONLY source of food and water-- you would be outraged too. The people who live there are being POISONED.
Lastly, what makes you better than those you label as "hippies" youre both human beings, you eat, drink sleep... just one consumes a lot less than the other. Thats how to be a real conservative, only using what you need to survive.
@Don73818 using only what you need to survive does not provide for a brighter tomorrow. that's why sustainable society's have so much waste. it's better to have way too much than just enough.
as far as wal mart?? you always have a choice to not shop there. it's not the only or the best deal in town.
i wonder largely where green peace thinks their fuel in thier vehicles or airplanes to get to these place they hate so much..comes from!!..lol..hippocrites..even their pretty hardhats and signage comes from the "dirty oil"
Somebody's gotta squeeze all that oil outta that sand so we can use it to build a berm around Louisiana to stop the oil down there ya know. Then we can ship it back up there and let them squeeze all the oil out again.
I don't think you can shut them down, it's too late. that's an unrealistic goal. but you CAN try to find a middle ground. keep the tar sands open, but don't let them get any bigger, and try to find a cleaner and more efficiant way of extracting the oil from the sand (NUCULAR REACTORRRR). That is going to be your best bet. Saying "Just shut them down" won't get you anywhere, there's too much profit opportunity in them to just leave them. and you know how the government loves profit.
I have not seen one Greenpeace protest in Saudi Arabia. I have an idea, why don't you leave us peace loving Canadians alone and go bother the Saudis that are producing their oil and aiding terrorism by the millions of dollars. Maybe for greenpeace, the environment is more important than lives.
Greenpeace is an organization full of a bunch of hypocrites. They claim to be environmentalists, yet they are charging in with massive fuel guzzling pickup trucks. And now you wonder why most people have no respect for greenpeace.
Bunch of fucking hypocrites...they drive up to the tar sands in F-150s, which are great for the environment. If you want to help the environment, stop breathing, you dumbfucks.
It's funny they drive trucks in to the site. Guess where they got the gas from? Also out of 1 barrel of oil 80% of the GHG emissions comes from the end user, aka GASOLINE! Way to be dumb Greenpeace, I should expect nothing more
@ineffable27 haha, do you have an reasons why it's dumb or is it that you don't know anything about oil production and use? I should also mention that plastics all come from oil, and their sign is made from it, always entertaining
Alberta sent 21 billion dollars in transfer payments to the rest of Canada in a year of recession. If you dont like the oilsands then you better start cutting programs in your provinces cause if they are shut down the money is gonna stop.
Wait...they drove trucks that run on oil to prostest...had a helicopter that runs on oil to protest oil....I mean wow. I'm not to happy the way the planets going either but the fact of the matter is at this point in time we dont have any real green tech to help us off oil.
The tarsands are large areas were oil is not contained into conventional pools where we can pump it out of the ground. The oil in the tarsands is seeping into the river, lakes and ground water on its own. Its great that companies are mining the oil from the ground because its removing the toxins from the ground and selling it for energy use. Plus Canada is collecting large revenues to provide services to the Canadian people that include massive green projects.
@faroyukon yeah, but it removes EVERYTHING from the ground, including nutrients that allows life to return to those areas. Also, in order to get said oil you need to destroy every living thing that lives on top of the soil. When the oil is in the ground it doesn't leech into the water as the soil that contains the oil is beneath the rivers and lakes. The majority of oil pumped out of the ground comes from the desert, whereas the tar sands are beneath areas teeming with life.
Wrong and wrong again. Did you make that shit up or did someone else feed you this line. The bitumen comes from the sand. The topsoil and muskeg (overburden) is stripped off and stockpiled for reclamation. Where the oilsands are close to the surface as they are in the area that are mineable, the bitumen oozes out on hot days. The rivers and creeks cut right through it and you can see it ooze out of the banks in numerous places.
Now picture this The enitre povince of Alberta is roughly 164,000,000 million acres. With this said Im not supporting the oilsands what im getting at is that GreenPeace should put their time and money towards something that actually is having a major negative effect on our plant
Yes, we are on right track judging by the nice award we received in Copenhagen. I beleive we are one of worst if not worst in co2 emmisions reduction and with one of highest if not highest per capita co2 emmisions, but it is all good lets worry about that in future
@rangerider79 I would no even go as far as calling it science. science is the exact study of something. there are so many measuring stations that went offline & or are located on heat islands (sub ocean buoys) that throw the real averages off it's impossible to call it science.
@daj77900 doing the right thing is never profitable for fringe groups nor does it come as easy picking on people with money. thank god that in a democracy fringe groups are not allowed special rights.
"Me and my dad are getting fat off the tar sands so the rest of the world can go to hell." That's the best you can do to defend this monstrous waste and destruction? Greenpeace fights for me.
I think we get it about the cable...you work there so you know the danger of the cable....wow. The fact is no matter if you replace everything that was there again (ie. the sand, trees, etc.) it won't replace the original boreal forest, the diversity. You need money, no shit, so does everyone else, but it isn't going to do you any good without somewhere to spend it. There are plenty of other jobs to get, face it, it's just ignorance and laziness and definately some bullshit old boys club.
And the terrorist comments are very hillarious, but not really surprising...everyone in Canada knows that Albertans are the closest thing we have to Americans....hahaha
Thank you for being awake. I hope people see past the heavy campaigning going on in the states currently. With projected 82% increase in emissions, our air, land and water is without doubt at risk!
Keystone is irresponsible with 12 leaks in 12 months. We must collectively stand up against the false info and campaigning the media is spewing to the US and inform everyone of the pending disaster. I have been compiling and posting petitions, statistics and videos to my blog. kim-hunter.blogspot.com
how did you get there, greenpeace? did you drive in a TRUCK? fly on a PLANE? well neither of those would work without fossil fuels. great movement. :P
I have been working on the tar sands since i was 18.. my dad is head of miming operation at SUNCOR ENERGY. all greenpeace does is cost these companys millions of dollars they work hard for, ALL companys developing the tar sands should have armed guards ready for ignorant fucks like greenpeace
Take THAT high-voltage power cable! There's no place for workplace safety in an eco-friendly society! Driving huge ass chevy trucks is quite acceptable though...
Some folks need to get their heads out of their asses and quit sucking up the hype.
The amount of mineable area is a speck out of the boreal forest. Nothing goes into the water and the "greenhouse" gas claims have no bearing on reality. Same with the wild acid rain claims for Saskatchewan.
Oh and Shell has a very large and well funded alternative energy R&D division too.
Hate to piss on your little parade GP and all you well wishers, but your facts are so much shit.
These people have no idea what they're talking about. Environmental disaster, dirty oil, destroying the environment. God almighty. It's an open pit mine. The sand goes back without the oil, the muskeg goes back and trees are replanted.
If they keep on the way they're going none of them will live to see it. Fucking morons with no more sense than to drive over a 600 volt cable, cut off a hauler and then chain themselves within range of burial if the shovel face had sluffed.
vote yes on proposition kill grepeace..in a perfect world we should be allowed to run those fuckers over using a 797 ...and then we should be allowed to send what's left to their children...oh in a perfect world....or they could have a mass suicide cause that would really show us a lesson..DIE YOU FUCKERS
i tend to do and say funny things when someone fucks whit my paycheck..it's kinda what i use to support my family....soo it's all fair...stupid fucking tree huger....
green peace is not trying to go after the worker. They are trying to stop this industry. The tar sands industry can be replaced by nuclear energy or bio fuels industry. You can still get a pay check in a better line of work.
This is a dangerous, foolhardy stunt, and you're all lucky neither you nor anyone else was hurt. As a former 797 driver, I'm disgusted with your blatant disregard for anyone. That cable you ran over- many many volts that power the shovel. The haul trucks- could squish your pickup without even feeling it.
Instead of staging silly protests, why not help come up with a real world, non idealist solution to the tar sands you lobby against so much (without understanding it)?
I can't believe you guy drove over that cable, CLUELESS! Oh, yeah, don't forget to put that all important Greenpeace logo on there. You guy were drive trucks, is that not against your religion?
so there's nothing wrong with barging illegally into an office building and holding it hostage? whats the difference, this is someone's place of work, and there's a right way and a wrong way of making your point. 300 tonne dump trucks and gigantic mining shovels CAN kill people if idiots like this see fit to take them over without a fucking clue how to use them. I was there that day and if i recall correctly, one of these green fucks almost backed over one of their own pick up trucks.
The tar sands are disgusting and I can't believe all the idiots on here saying that you they won't stop working there because the money they make pays there bills. And blah, blah, blah, ignorance. It makes me happy to think that at least all these assholes will get cancer and die soon enough. At least some of the ignorance will be killed off.
Do you have any idea that the oil around fort McMurray seep into the Clear-water river and Athabasca River naturally, and that the fish in the area are uneatable because of the high mercury content and this is all mother nature. The native 150 year ago use the bitumen seeping out of the ground to seal their canoes, Is that wrong too. AH WHEA Blah blah, lets just leave the garbage in the ground so it can poison the the water and animals even more.
Do you really think that the oil serves no purpose in the ground except for you to use it? And do really think the natives cut down all the trees to get the bitumen and destroyed all the natural environment to attain it?? We'll just see what all these people do when the oil runs out...I'm sure you'll have a lot to say then car lover!! You should be more concerned about the WATER running out in the Athabasca River, not the fish. You should try to educate yourself more on that.
@carlover01 you can't tell that to people who are pushing an agenda to rid the world of oil. even if we never used another drop there would be more oil pollution from mother nature than we ever thought of doing as a species. therefore we must use it all up to save the planet. it and nat gas. even taking into account growth in use the planet would never in a million years use all our natural resources.
FUCK YOU, FUCK RIGHT THE FUCK OFF, you havent got a fucking clue about anything, especially not what its really like up here. Probably never left your dog fucking yuppie town, you protest what we do up here and than hop into your suv and drive everywhere you need to be. Do all of us cancer infested oil workers a favor and kill yourself, and do it painlessly so that your sissy little bitch ass dosent cry and wimp out. FUCK YOU!!!
I would suggest it is you that doesn't have a fucking clue about anything - us grown ups are talking about the big picture.
If I am to assume you make your living there I can understand why you would be defensive - but you need to ask yourself whether that really changes the facts.
Once upon a time tens of thousands in the US worked in the tobacco industry in good conscience, levelling the same kind of ignorant tantrum at its detractors too.
The money they make does pay their bills. If you're a welder or electrician or whatever and you have a family which a lot of these guys have, are you honestly going to turn down a welding etc. job that pays more than twice as much as you'd make somewhere where you live? I bet you didn't know that those trucks the greenpeace guys used, run on deisel.
By the way, the river is polluted no mater what, because the oil seeps into it regardless. At least Shell's taking the oil out of the ground
You hippy-jihadists are hard to follow. So then based on this logic an oil spill would be classified as beneficial for nature? It's going back to the environment, right? And, yes, oil has the important task of filling up the voids within the matrix of a rock.
@aunthill167 that's a horrible thing to say. they are cleaning the planet up and providing fuel for economic growth the planet wide , they are heroes. even if they weren't they are not ignorant people , most of them are college graduates. but i suppose university are in the business of lacking integrity which is why they stay fluid??? you sound like an idiot. no offense.
Ok, exactly what is it you don't understand? Tar sands is one of the most destructive projects on the face of the earth right now. Whatever your opinions about the success of this particular mission, these people at least care so much that they want to make a change for the better.
And all the talk about fags, is it a part of the heterosexual way of life to be willing to die from pollutions or make the world a totally uninhabitable place to live in?
@erikmannby no removing this tar makes the world cleaner not worse, this stuff has got to be hurting the water table around there. you have the right to be a homosexual & an activist, but what your saying is pure opinion.
The oil has been there for thousands of years stored in that sand, im pretty sure its not making the water table worse. Its bringing the sands up, spreading the waste products then burning the tar and oil afterwoods that creates the problem.
@erikmannby just because things don't line up with your narrow worldview does not mean it's incorrect. yes using natural resources can make the world cleaner. do some research before you go around parroting left wing bullshyte brainwashing talkingpoints that have no basis to support them.
@erikmannby go to north dy akodas coal mine, go to the gulf, go to china, go to russia, go to saudi arabia, go to austraila, go to... well you get the picture... development and a source of employment for generations to come is what we care about. you say most desctructive, yes its gross... but once an area of a mine is not producing it is back filled and reclaimed by workers planting shrubs and nature will take its course. its easy for you to sit behind a keyboard. go walk on reclaimed land?
@Ferley88 people who cry foul about using natural resources have no earthly idea how many ideas they have walked on or through reclaimed lands and not known it. there is a reason why they are called resources , because they are here for our use.
@erikmannby okay man, add all last ten year accumilated growth of each city in usa square kms and add it up. far exceeds how much land the oilsands has temporarily changed. you people have no clue. find me a job back in good ole northwestern ontario that pays me 200k a year and will NEVER lay off anyone. then ill talk business. but until then you GREENIES can FUCKOFF...p.s. nice 3/4 chevys dumb fucks. did those 6 litres run on magical water?????? FAGS AHAHAH
@fortmcmurraycash I'm not a "greenie" whatever the fuck that means. I simply look at the problem in a pragmatical way. I understand you worry about your job and I guess that so do the guys in the Iranian government, doesn't mean their "job" don't suck though.
@erikmannby what in the mother fuck are you talkin about???? yes it is a problem. the world did it to itself!!!society is to blame for the oilsands!! me you and everyone around!!! unless you live in a tent secluded from the world. im not worried about my job dumb fuck! the oilsands are gonna go for another 100 years. thats just the projects that are already running now! not including all the other land that is available to the companies. my job is awesome. i take home 5 grand a week.
@erikmannby how much money do you make? do you have mouths to feed like i do? get your facts straight before you start blabbering like a dumbass little kid. probly are one...wtf does iranian gov have to do with me working as a machinist for Shell???? facepalm
@syeshasucks these are not crimes, plastics sequestor natural gas from our atmosphere. , automobile emmsions produce mostly water.???water crimes??? there is no shrotage of it here in north america and me wasting water here does not produce it somewhere else where they ruined their own water.
greenpeace, u are such a bunch of fags, Maybe you guys should of looked at yourselfs before you got out of that truck , and realized that all of you were born lozers, and presently lozers, and a god dam good chance will die lozers
Man GreenPeace is a bunch of Fuckers. I live in Fort Mcmurray. We laugh every time they come and protest. this little stunt does nothing but piss off the workers. I wish they would have been run over by that heavy hauler!
You get angry because deep down you know the writing is on the wall.
20 years from now when it is all gone, you will have stripped the area of it's bio-diversity, geographical features and clean water, and the cost of living from having to import nearly everything will make just living there a chore, if not untenable for most.
Your local economy is a one trick pony that will in time die.
if we weren't mining there, or anybody else in the world extracting oil in what ever means necessary for that matter, how in the fuck would any of them gotten onto site in the first place? You'd all have looked pretty cute along side those 797s on your bicycles.
@brettmineer 20 years from now if it runs out in that little amount of time is no big deal , the area will be re sodded and reseeded. geographical features are not sacrosanct. the water will be cleaner because the tar is not there to leach into it. when it does run out it's just another ghost town no big deal. we need more natural resources not less.
there are other things people in a city can do after this , people are smart.
you bunch of fuckin idiots......u used a helicopter which im sure burns jet fuel and 7 trucks which in turn also burn fuel and use oil to keep them from seizing up on ur out there to stage your protest against a company where i would'nt be surprised by ur utter stupidity that u also bought the fuel from shell gas stations...next time fire up that shovel and bary the fuck cock suckers...no one will miss them anyways...bunch of fuckin hypocritic assholes!!!!die green peace die.....
in a pit full of equipment that weights in excess of 100tons i'm sure the cable can handle a pickup.
the shitty oil coming out of the tar sands naver makes it to a gas tanks anyways it's almost all for plastics. the party is over in 20 to 30 years thats geology speaking so why not do something positive.
no thats why the cable is coned off so nobody runs over it, its a no no, there not made so they can be ran over by any weight. if you ever seen one of those cables blow you wouldn't want to be on the receiving end.
True that!! Buddy you're fighting a losing battle.. Are you blind? Did you not see the cones covering the cable? You can get in serious trouble for running that thing over, not to mention when it blows its not pretty for anyone around it. They caused a huge terrorist threat, and safety threat to everyone there including themselves. Oh yeah I forgot they are terrorists, so i guess sucide missions are okay.
Greenpeace.... Great job.. you got me lot's of hit's on my video. That's about the only thing you did... hahahhah lol Thank's Go hug a tree. O ya nice work running over that 15000 volt cable. You almost got fried with out the pot.... Fuck nice work. Thank's for helping out the Road Rage Guy... Let me know when you fucks are up again.. i'll have something else for ya...
i work at this mine at the albian sands froth site. the heavy haulers were only shut down for maybe 6 hours and they were running again. those trucks they drove in with dont run on "love" and everything they use operates on oil. oil is what makes the world liveable and you will never be able to stop this!
Congratulations, Greenpeace on drawing worldwide attention to an important story. It was, no doubt, a major topic in newsrooms across the country this week-- maybe finally Canadians will start the open dialogue they should have ages ago.
This is a complex issue and people will inevitably lose out somehow on either end. I feel for the people who depend on this industry as a livelihood, but that is no reason to ignore the devastating facts.
Keep it up, Greenpeace. It's important that you do.
That helicopter must run on hopes and dreams, that banner must be made of 100% natural cotton, and those trucks must certainly run on vegetable oil. Stay out of our oilsands and stop trying to take away peoples livelihoods.
Agreed. I work at Suncor, and unless Greenpeace plans on giving me money to pay for my bills and groceries, I won't be quitting from there anytime soon. They need to go take a flying fuck off of a galloping sow and mind their own buisiness.
You should try not judging people for a change. I have a degree, and unfortunatley, due to the recession, nobody is hiring in the fields which I'm qualified for. Suncor, on the other hand, was hiring. You're one hell of an ignorant bastard for a 28 year old.
@ahcassacha That's no excuse. You sold your soul dude. You're a whore. A Tool. You can tell your children you helped destroy their world. The ignorance is on you for justifying your actions with some self-pitying plea about the recession. There are always jobs somewhere, and ones that don't involve skinning the Earth alive.
This fight is not against the common man. Its against the big industry. The tar sands industry can easily be replaced wit the win turbine industry or nuclear industry.
So you must have a 150km extension corde to plug youre car or youre just gona haul a nuclear reactor aroud....and further more that would still leave me whithout a job and no food on my kids place..get a plan toghether that i can keep my paycheck and ill be all for it..t'il then shut up...
Well that's what green peace is trying to do. They don't want to kill your job. As far as cars and electricity goes we have electric cars that run on a battery. We can easy do that with a nuclear power plant. There are also bio fuels. What I'm trying to say is we can have our cake and eat it too. We can have cars and you can have a job to support your kids and have a healthy planet.
naw you know you re rong..greenpeace are losers ..they put the blame on everyone but them selfs..;ike in this vid..everything they did was directly helped by the tar sands oil...diesel pick ups rubber boots..and where do you think the close there wearing came from??oh yea shiped in a truck and las time i checked they still burn fuel..greenpeace is trying to govern how the rest of us go about our lives..who do they think they are...fucking bums..keep youre opinion to yourselfs..
Yeah maybe you're right about them using the trucks or w/e. But we don't need to use tar sands to get a fuel. All this tar sand business is wasting human resources and the environment. We can easily use bio fuels to make plastics and fuel.
were do you think boi fuels come from??they already tryed that..it was doing more harm than good..depleting the world supply of food...so which do you think is better millions of pepople making a good paycheck or starving 1/3 of the worlds population..food prices have already gone sky high...greenpeace has their on vision but don't consider the reste ...solving a probleme by creating a bigger one is pretty stupid if you ask me...so who's right here..??you tell me..
Algae bio fuel can produce tons of fuel. In an area about half the size of the tar sands maybe smaller in the desert can produce all of the US oil needs. It wont interfere with food supplies because its in an area where people cant farm regular crops. As far as climate change being a problem its really our BIGGEST problem we have as a planet so I don't see how stopping this is a bad idea. Climate change has the potential to kill millions of people.
How can you prove climat change??maybe it's just the earth's normal cycle??but i doesn't really mater things are the way they are and there not going to change t'il the world economie can substain it's self whitout oil..so protest all you whant nothing's gona change ..the tar sands are gona get much bigger..that you can be sure of..but in about 120years or so they might close when they run dry..so t'il then youre wasting youre time..try doing something productive instead of complaining...
Climate change is a fact its not really a debate if its real or not that's just ridiculous. The environment should always triumph over money. You're talking about 120 years of tar sands. We will be lucky if we have just 20. Things like the tar sands are destroying the very place we live. Its seems so stupid that a species would destroy its habitat for money. Is all the money in the world really worth any thing of you're dead?
y do you say the tar sands are destroying everything??after mining the reclame the land and in a better state..looks like they weren't even there..oil is there we found out how to use it..it's the way things are ment to be..science should try to find a way to revers climate change not stop it cause the fact is things are the way they are..and no matter how many prottest you guys comme up whit 1 -2, 6millions times nothing is ever gonna change..EVER. we need oil and gas and were gona get it...
LOL they didn't even shut down production, they shut down the overburden haul, Albian moved 150,000 tons of tarsand while this shit was going on hahah, mission accomplished!
They ran over a 15000volt power cable that powers the shovel!! holy hell thats putting there lives and everyone around them in danger, what a bunch of idiots lol. good thing they done their research!! glad they wasted all that money and the money they'll need to get outta jail. haha fags
Great footage, great action. Greenpeace should feel proud of intervening in a peaceful, non-violent way with meaning, heart and integrity.
Detractors will always be present, and it's important to listen to those who have something valid to say. But to the activists doing the hard job of putting themselves on the line, hold your heads high.
This peaceful push-back is what we need in the fight to stop climate change and the dirty oil industry. Maybe Harper and Stelmach will finally get the message that green jobs and a green economy are much better than this cancer-causing mess that is the tar sands.

Don73818 1 year ago
@Don73818 using only what you need to survive does not provide for a brighter tomorrow. that's why sustainable society's have so much waste. it's better to have way too much than just enough.

Somebody's gotta squeeze all that oil outta that sand so we can use it to build a berm around Louisiana to stop the oil down there ya know. Then we can ship it back up there and let them squeeze all the oil out again.
SPACECADET2U 1 year ago

ThatUJohnWayne 2 years ago 2
The tarsands are large areas were oil is not contained into conventional pools where we can pump it out of the ground. The oil in the tarsands is seeping into the river, lakes and ground water on its own. Its great that companies are mining the oil from the ground because its removing the toxins from the ground and selling it for energy use. Plus Canada is collecting large revenues to provide services to the Canadian people that include massive green projects.
faroyukon 2 years ago 2
@faroyukon yeah, but it removes EVERYTHING from the ground, including nutrients that allows life to return to those areas. Also, in order to get said oil you need to destroy every living thing that lives on top of the soil. When the oil is in the ground it doesn't leech into the water as the soil that contains the oil is beneath the rivers and lakes. The majority of oil pumped out of the ground comes from the desert, whereas the tar sands are beneath areas teeming with life.
burk909 2 years ago
@burk909 Guess youve never seen oil leechin out of the banks of the athabasca into the river UPSTREAM of the mines where eroision has exposed it.
Bennyboy46a 1 year ago
@burk909

5% of Canada's emissions are from the oil sands.
Canada makes up 2% of the worlds emissions.
A country that supplies the world with large amounts of raw materials.
Alberta paid 21 billion in transfer payments to the rest of Canada, wonder where that money came from.
Thousands of jobs depend on the industry.
And the science on climate change is looking shakier everyday.
rangerider79 2 years ago
@rangerider79 I would no even go as far as calling it science. science is the exact study of something. there are so many measuring stations that went offline & or are located on heat islands (sub ocean buoys) that throw the real averages off it's impossible to call it science.

AH WHEA Blah blah, lets just leave the garbage in the ground so it can poison the the water and animals even more.
carlover01 2 years ago
Do you really think that the oil serves no purpose in the ground except for you to use it? And do really think the natives cut down all the trees to get the bitumen and destroyed all the natural environment to attain it?? We'll just see what all these people do when the oil runs out...I'm sure you'll have a lot to say then car lover!! You should be more concerned about the WATER running out in the Athabasca River, not the fish. You should try to educate yourself more on that.
aunthill167 2 years ago
@carlover01 you can't tell that to people who are pushing an agenda to rid the world of oil. even if we never used another drop there would be more oil pollution from mother nature than we ever thought of doing as a species. therefore we must use it all up to save the planet. it and nat gas. even taking into account growth in use the planet would never in a million years use all our natural resources.

The money they make does pay their bills. I bet you didn't know that those trucks the greenpeace guys used, run on deisel.
By the way, the river is polluted no mater what, because the oil seeps into it regardless. At least Shell's taking the oil out of the ground

I feel for the people who depend on this industry as a livelihood, but that is no reason to ignore the devastating facts.

were do you think boi fuels come from??they already tryed that..it was doing more harm than good..depleting the world supply of food...so which do you think is better millions of pepople making a good paycheck or starving 1/3 of the worlds population..food prices have already gone sky high...greenpeace has their on vision but don't consider the reste ...solving a probleme by creating a bigger one is pretty stupid if you ask me...so who's right here..??you tell me..

DamianiWins 2 years ago 3
y do you say the tar sands are destroying everything??after mining the reclame the land and in a better state..looks like they weren't even there..oil is there we found out how to use it..it's the way things are ment to be..science should try to find a way to revers climate change not stop it cause the fact is things are the way they are..and no matter how many prottest you guys comme up whit 1 -2, 6millions times nothing is ever gonna change..EVER. we need oil and gas and were gona get it...

Give 'em hell Greenpeace.

This peaceful push-back is what we need in the fight to stop climate change and the dirty oil industry. Maybe Harper and Stelmach will finally get the message that green jobs and a green economy are much better than this cancer-causing mess that is the tar sands.

Oh, wow, really relevant.
How much did it cost to rent those pickups and monkey suits...and who had to cut their hair?
Pathetic slags.

Yeah you really showed them. Morons!!!.
You ceased production for about 5 hours. Nothing that a big rain storm wouldnt have caused.
Go save some starving youngsters or some of our abused and neglected elderly. You guys are terrorists.
