I had to get halfway through this before I looked at the description and realized this wasn't Romney. He looks just like him and his description of his dad is pretty spot on. I just assumed it was while he was still governor of MA, since now he's trying to escape his embarrassing history of being a vaguely sane, rational centrist.
After all the atrocities committed by so-called Christians, why can you not accept valid criticism? The Inquisition, Jim Crow/slavery, The Holocaust and various other genocides world wide. This man was one of you. if you are truly a Christian then you must know his allegence is with Christ and not with organizations proclaiming to be doing HIS work. If the men who walked with Christ got it wrong (he on numerous occasions told them so) what makes you think various denominations don't.
Frankie Schaeffer is a traitor to his faith. I met him & his dad in the 70's in Switzerland and his dad is probably turning over in his grave with this fool of a son who has embraced anti-Christian scum and supporting the communist obama-ites. Both he and this unqualified affirmative action interviewer have told lies about the "uneducated religious right underbase" of society - read normal conservative Christian people (that built this country).
You're a patriot like I shjt through my dick. He's probably rotting in hell for fucking up so many innocent lives with his old testament, mind control mythological hubris. Fuck you - You're NO different than the taliban with your "my god's better than yours and the ONLY god" wrath bullshit! believe what you want... even if it's a load of crap and leave the rest of us alone you knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing douchebag.
p.s. the rapture was last week - so you're fucked!
@Patriot1862 You're the ilk he is talking about. He's right and you're wrong. He lives the faith in Christ, as taught by the Apostles so if he is a traitor to what he used to live, then hip hip hurah. The religious right is uneducated, ignorant and neo-fascist. what a great legacy for "normal conservative Christian people."
@kbarngrover One thing he's not doing and that's living faith in Christ as taught by the apostles. It sounds more like he is living the faith as taught by Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin. You talk like you're of that same cloth yourself.
@Patriot1862 You are so fucking stupid you don't even know what communism is, you just use the word as an insult - under the Obama administration and with the support of most members of congress billions of dollars have been hand over to corporations and banks (ie bailouts) not something that a 'communist' would do. You evidently don't know anything about the history of this country either, other than the propaganda and myths you have been spoon fed.
@brunoween Not if there's a last minute effort by the sane people in this country to systematically get rid of the problem, and no that doesn't make us insane it makes us realistic. Why is genocide a bad thing if bad people have been given a chance to change, but refuse to? I suppose this is lost on anyone who thinks they are morally superior, but I tried.
@CaptainDeSade They are if they are communists. And that is where the greatest slaughter in humanity has ever taken place, under that atheistic framework. 100 million and still counting, in one century alone. That's more than all of the killing attributed Judeo-Christians in the last few millennia.
@nef2442 lmao rhetoric. please tell me how those 100 million died. majority of them died how?show your ignorance. mao and stalin also both had black hair, correlation does not equal causation. never did polpot, stalin or mao killed in the name of atheism, unlike religious zealots. show your complete lack of historical knowledge, tell me how majority of russian and chinese died . and then try to tie that atheism.please make a complete fool of yourself
@maxfedor1 One must look at the overall outcome of a philosophical doctrine on society, both good and bad, not specific instances of abuse. Christianity, for example, has been used by wicked men to do much evil, but its underlying doctrine has been the cause of much good in the world. Communism, on the other hand, has brought only atrocity into the world. Communism has not brought relief to the majority as promised, nor has it ended oppression as purposed.
@nef2442 No one supports communism and bringing it up for political reasons is a sad reflection of someone with your intelligence. I expect more from you.
The Sun beam existed before Christainity and Allah existed before Islam. The Pagans knew your Gods but they interacted with them more. They were better Christians. So says the archaology found on this Earth. It also says we are part divine/part mammal, that we were preexisted as mammal, were fashioned/cloned in someone's image and born.Indications that malevolent & benevolent spirits exist. That Abrahmics are feeding fear.Repent! Quote the raven ' Nevermore'!!
Look around you today at the marks of the beast. Truely if your God was powerful it would be his symbols. But he has none. Why doesn't He have any symbols? How do you know that he is God? Maybe someone took the God microphone that day when the real one was meditating in the deep waters. But you fools believed it and ended your worship that has been here since the start of time. The Pagans had the same exact thing. Repent return to Paganism. mwahahha
You speak of a Satan or adversary but you are the adversary to humanity to progress. A prisoner of your superstition and hidden desires that you are unable to express. Therefore one who expresses those things is the Devil to you. Because you are bound by the CHAINS of OBEDIENCE and IGNORANCE. Free yourselves ask why a God would wish to hide things from your attention. The Wizard of Oz was an illusion. It was a totally different story than what everyone thought.
Besides some Gods were bisexual such as the vegetation Gods. Refer to the Greeks for a more recent account ie Dionysius. Could this be because sex isn't as important and by harping on and adding anger and fear to it you've helping divide it even more? You feed anger and fear which means more of it will come back God doesn't care about sexual orientation. History doesn't support the lies of the Church. Gold at the end of the the Rainbow lol as you were
net2442 you sound like a closet case. Does your sexual desire for Schaeffer scare you? Don't just smear the man give reasonable EVIDENCE for your charges. I can say your Mom is a harlot (and she may be) but it means nothing without evidence.
@uncledarnell That is called an ad hominem attack in logic. I'm not attacking the man for being gay. I'm just telling you why he defected from the Christian right. The church does not except homosexuality as a healthy form of sexual behavior. In fact they perceive is as sinful. Mr. Schaeffer can't live in a closet anymore, therefore, Mr. Schaeffer is retaliating against the Christian right.
Frank Schaeffer is just pissed because he wants to come out of the closet, and the religious right will find that unexceptable. Notice the first thing he disagrees with is the "gay bashing." Dude is a gay and its driving him "Crazy" that God does not include homosexuality as a viable form of sexuality. The Bible considers it a horrendous sin. This is what's eating Frank Schaeffer, he wants the freedom to fondle little boys butts and only liberals like Obama can get him there!
@nef2442 What an ignoramus you are. Most pedophiles are self-proclaimed straight men and/or are married. As a gay person, I cannot imagine being attracted to a prepubescent person, and read your buy bull man. It also says disobedient children should be put to death, eating certain seafood is an abomination and Jesus condones slavery and the killing of unbelievers in the NT. Thank god your ilk is becoming more and more isolated and ineffectual in American society.
@richwfd2002 Atheists are parasites you don't add anything to society and ride on the coat tails of a Christian legacy. BTW Jesus didn't condone slavery he simply referred to the issue. Jesus understood slavery would be around forever. There is more slavery today then their was during the antebellum South. In Africa, and most Muslim countries, along with India and China, slavery is very prevalent. Jesus was speaking to the hearts of people in bondage. Different from condoning slavery.
@nef2442 I believe we have pots calling kettles black here, mr. or mrs. faux "christian". AND Jesus did condone slavery! Check out Eph 6:5, Tim 6:1-2 and Luke 12;47-48 before you start flappin' your hypocritical gums and calling others parasites, hypocrite! There are other passages as well.
@nef2442 ROFL@atheists are parasites. At least they don't kill by the droves unlike other people of certain faiths. You are mistaken about your place in the world. The weak uneducated ignorant who don't acknowledge the wise are slaves. In fact they are slaves to anyone who isn't ignorant because the intelligent will rule over them because it is true what is written.."My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..." OBVIOUSLY. Obedience is more important because knowledge is 'evil'.
@abby495 atheists have the most blood on their hands. Pol Pot, Mao, Lenin, & Stalin were atheist leaders who were following Marxist tenets calling for the obliteration of all religion in their countries. Communism is an atheist doctrine that has killed 100 million in the last century and is still killing!!!!! That's more than all of the deaths attributed to Christianity and Judaism put together in the last 4,000 years.
@nef2442 Nope. Just because Communism caused many deaths is no reason to sanctify your religion where millions were tortured and butchered in inhumane ways esp women and children your Gods genocide speciality. We don't know how many were killed for 6 centuries just to keep the Paganism quiet under the guise of heresy. The Church has no authority anymore today it is known as the Whore of Babylon who cares more about Money than what God said.
@nef2442 Atheists is parasites .... shure and cristians are retards who believe in a person thats in a book made by people who thought the earth was flat and heaven was in the air ... so basically if we found a book that was made around the same time as the bible and it was about unicorns would you belive in that too?
@MrMonstermusik If it weren't for the "Christian retards" you wouldn't be living in the best country in the world dick face! Atheists have never brought any thing to help create our Republic, they bask in the liberty that was bought with Evangelical Christian sweat and blood. And they have the audacity to talk shit on evangelicals. What Balls!
@nef2442 ROFL! You live in a world of illusion. The Bible says 'by their fruits you shall recognize them' and 'a good tree doesn't bear bad fruit'.Shakespeare wrote that 'Fair is foul and foul is fair'. If a group said that they were fair but did foul things would you have the discernment to notice it? Or would you be fooled by other propaganda silliness. The Church was always ignorant and they will stay that way. Leviathan, the Beast will win. A little Robin told me .
@nef2442 There you go again, claiming christian persecution. This is typical of the ingratitude of modern christians in a country where they have unprecidented protections. The cry from the right wing ingrates has become one of, "they're persecuting us for his namesake"while bashing our great nation and using our great flag as toilet paper. We're finally sick to death of you and you SHOULD know that more people despise you more than ever before for bad mouthing America in secret, and in public.
@imaginativelads It's our USA. The Pilgrims to the founding fathers, they were evangelical Christians. From J. Winthrop to G. Washington. Washington in his farewell address to the nation stated, "Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports...reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle." You may be sick of us but the U.S. is sick bcuz of you.
@nef2442 Nope, wrong again turdmonger! You're in OUR country, and quite frankly your hatred of our citizens and their hard work ethics shows the contempt you also have for our flag. We will not allow you to use our great nations flag for toilet paper anymore, and we are prepared to defend our constitution against you by ANY MEANS NECCESSARY. Bet you haven't encountered anyone willing to say those words yet, and yes I don't just think you're scared, I KNOW YOUR SCARED!!!
@nef2442 The U.S. is sick because of religious hypocrites who have been caught with their pants down in bathroom stalls screwing little boy. You HAVE NO MORAL AUTHORITY!!! YOU ARE PERVERTS AND LIARS AND FILTH! You will PAY DEARLY for your pedophelia and SICKNESS. America hasn't forgotten how corrupt your churches are and I'll bet your God hasn't either. So you see nef, you lose on the moral issues alone. YOU HAVE NONE, you DEGENERATE RELIGIOUS PERVERT!!!
@nef2442 Or maybe sexual orientation isn't really an issue. Who cares if he is gay? Those who aren't getting any. Being gay doesn't mean being pedophile. Maybe if that distinction was made priests wouldn't be getting away from it. Be gay just don't abuse little boys. Or else a big black dick will fall out of the sky and slap the frigid compliments of Osiris/Dionysius/Shiva the real Gods who ever mattered.
@abby495 The reason being gay is an issue here, is because Homosexuality is not acceptable in the church. In other words, If stealing cookies was against church constraints, Mr. Schaeffer's hand was caught in the cookie jar. Therefore, he finds it personally befitting to contend against the entire institution. You can't show up to a football game with a tennis racket, or else the team is going to let you go. Moreover, if you think the team is unfair, than you are being doubly unfair!
The story of Frank Schaeffer is one of personal failure. He is now blaming his failed life on others to make himself feel better. It is all about him.
I really don't see why a candidate's personal beliefs are relevant as to whether or not they are fit to lead. Vote based on the issues, not demographics. Who knows, you might be surprised who you end up agreeing with.
I entitle this response: What you do not look for, you do not see.
Let me paraphrase the video for you: These people would rather take our whole country down than be proved right. To be patriotic Americans, and support your president. Whether you voted for him or not. (applause from cnn audience) I know its not Franks exact words, but close. Can someone tell me if you saw the hateful and distain words Frank used to suggest Theists are wrong?
Frank's Dad was a great Christian when he had L'Bri in Switzerland-he had his oddities but he was closer to Jesus' teachings then than he was later-Frank admits in his book that he, at that time guided his Dad towards the religious right -he grew up and got away from it, which I'm sure his Dad would've been proud of. I can tell you right now that Jesus would say 'you are doing right-those who would manipulate people by their ideology are so wrong-I never meant fear'... His message-I Am..Love
Frank Schaeffer's father (Francis) was brilliant. For Frank to sit here and discredit all of his fathers work is not really admirable on Franks part. The evangelicals will never disown Frank. They will always love him. Frank should know better than all evangelicals that his father foretold the future in his "How should we then live?" Frank knows this. Francis knew exactly where the country was going back in the early 1980's. and it is here. Frank, Frank, Frank...please respect your father
@glitchiker1 A son is required to love his father, not respect him. Evangelicals regardless of their number and standing are, and will always be a poison in the soup of America, small enough doses to go unnoticed but will surely kill us in time.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Frank, I remember when you burst on the scene in the early 1980s and (almost personally) hijacked the evangelical movement for your (then) pet pro-life cause. You dragged them off message, and stirred up the loonies among them.
And now, judging by the responses to this video, you are whipping up the blood lust of the fringe types on the other side. In both cases, Frank, you seem satisfied only when you are stirring up hatred.
American Christianity, or Fundamentalist Christianity is a poison - unfortunately spreading to (real) churches around the world - i hope this delusion ends so people can find God or spirituality just as it is.
@janjust thats because he's one of the few real christians. christianity is based on love. alot my fellow christians forget that. theyre more focused on the name of God than what he represents
pigz88, sorry, I spelt your username wrong in my last comment. But yes, Frank Schaeffer is a convert to the Eastern Orthodox Church, and is specifically Greek Orthodox. Take care.
you lieeeeeeeeeee. that was a bunch of bull.they all point fingers but they all have the rest pointing right back at him.that isnt the way the christian are suppose to carry themselves. im black and i side more with the repubs.and yea obama should fail at screwing up this country, but succeed at bringing it up.thats what rush meant. but hey they all want it to fall anyway for the nwo
Props to this guy. He has a conscience which is rare to see in someone coming out of the fundamentalist culture. He was man enough to change his mind based on his intelligence and not stuck in a rut with a religious faith
No, he did not say that Bush was not a Christian. There you go again with your propaganda and failed ideology. For your lies and false witness when you stand before Christ he will say," I did not know you." Be careful because God knows where your treasure is and unfortunately you have traded it for the CULT OF INSANITY and the filth of a corrupt gospel of greed. You will pay no doubt and your wrath will be afforded no forgiveness for stealing it from the one true son of the living God. BELIEVE IT!
Dear fringefries....you might want to re-read my statement again. I said Bush was NOT a Christian. Just because someone calls themselves a Christian with their mouths, if their actions don't follow, it doesn't mean they are a Christian. So you should apologize to me.
The whole point this gentleman made was that a supposed Christians (Bush & others) led people in the wrong direction. The unfortunate fact is that the overwhelming majority of the people he mentioned were unbelievers.
Man! Frank Schaeffer gives the right wing neo-cons the bees knees. I really appreciate him going after the right "wingnuts" like that and telling them to stop the hatred toward Obama. I thought they were going to have a lynchmob at one of McCain's rallies! Now that the truth is out, I hope it changes some of the loud ass 20 million!
You lose and your wholeright wing ideology is being exposed by God. Go ahead and show us how crazy you are. Really, we want to capture it on video so we can see your fruti-psychobat cult of insanity drive itself into the ground. Make no mistake you are Gods nightmare and now that he has awakened he is PISSED OFF. You can run but you CAN'T hide from the prince of peace. You, Michael Savage and Rush Limbaugh will lose your faculties for reason and then God will set upon you a spiritual apoplexy.
I'm not judging anyones "real or not real christians' HEART.
That is for God to judge, ONYLY!
We do, however, follow a different belief than him & his Dad.
Nothing against either, personally, but neither teach Bible truths we believe.
Ministers vary in every church & some, including ours, have issues. But ministers we trust don't judge others. They teach Gods love & love unconditionally.
If not -- they have not truth in them.
Jesus said, they speak My name, but I know them NOT!
"Why do people hate me for sucking dick?" They don't hate you for sucking dick they hate you for the same reason God hates you.Because you steal oxygen from perfectly healthy strains of baterium that are far more worthy of life than you are.Keep sucking cock itis after all what conservatards do best in seedy bathrooms to little boys these days. You should never swallow cum after all the aids virus doesn't know where your mouth has been. Just a guess, rimming toilets?
dude is right on. Religion makes people dumb. The real god is in the science that tells us about our world and our place in it and what we should do to stick around so we don't end up like the dinosaurs.
MikeGuggino, I respectfully disagree. Unenlighted and fanatical religion makes people dumb. I have faith in the mystery of our own existance that goes beyond traditional religious beliefs but I am not a fanatic about it. I approach it with the wonder of a child. Frank is right on if you had any questions about where I stand on his transformation as a True Christian and decent human being. Peace to you.
"I have faith in the mystery of our own existance that goes beyond traditional religious beliefs" so we do agree then. i what God manifest itself through the mysteries of the universe like black holes, evolution, quantum physics and art. religion, especially western religion, is so very bureaucratic. it divides the universe up into the physical and the nether world when it's all the same stuff doing different things. i. e God. i sure as hell have faith, i also like to be informed.
"The religious right started with good intentions and then was manipulated by very crass people who have taken it in a very different direction for personal gain. Today you have about 20 million people who buy all of Ann Coulters books, watch Rush Limbaugh, send in the money to the televangelists. It's all the same people. The fact of the matter is there are 300million of us! There's not 20million of us... It's not a big percentage, it's a loud percentage. "
Finally, somewone who speaks the truth! Republicans are becoming the party of hate, intolerance, and ignorance. If people don't speak up and confront this anti-American trend our country will suffer. Wake up America and show haters the door, because we are better people than this.
This man is one big contradiction. He decries Bush in the most uncharitable and ideological light (of course, he blogs for the Huffington Post!!) and then he turns around and claims that every American has a duty to support Obama. Where was his support for Bush?
He then goes on to explain that Bush was not qualified to be president but then expresses such fervent faith in Obama when the man has lead nothing! What were Obama's qualifications again?
I don't think he meant that Bush was unqualified in terms of experience. I think he means unqualified in that his performance was poor overall. An "afterthought" kind of unqualified.
Christians are educated. Christians are republican and democrat. Christians can be wealthy or poor. Christians can be in leadership. It is not nice to stereotype all Christians with such elitist disdain and venom.
I don't think he's stereotyping all Christians, indeed he's still a Christian himself. He's just criticizing the fanatical core of extremists who conflate religion with politics. You can still believe in Jesus and vote Democrat.
I am a HARD Cored Non-Theist & Republican Hater But l do have to say I have a respect for Frank Schaeffer, its better late then To be PigHeaded enough as to never voice a proper opinion that is Against your Grain.
Name me one thing in his life he hasn't eventually apologized for or renounced. See a pattern? He is a contrarian by nature. He jumps from one thing to another in order to renounce it. It gives him a sense of street cred when in fact he is a ship without a rudder.
"...these people are ideological enough that they'd rather take our whole country down and be proved right than be patriotic Americans and stand up and do the things that every American who loves this country would do right now which is to support the President whether you voted for him or not."
The people then applaud. I wonder if he or anyone had said this a year ago (when Bush Jr was President) if the people would still applaud. Hhmmm....
"Patriotic Americans" & "every American who loves this country" = "support [for] the President whether you voted for him or not"???
Sounds like Cheney.
btw a "Patriot" is one who dissents from a tyrannical gov't (just ask our Founding Fathers).
We should support the President (Obama or Bush) only if he upholds his Constitutional oath (which would entail limited gov't and the preservation of Liberty).
[How many Americans have even ever read the Constitution & Bill or Rights?]
Hmmmm.....difference is that Bush was given at least a six year period to prove himself whereas Obama has just begun. If you'll recall after 9/11 Americans did stand behind him for an extensive period of time and even people on the left criticized their own because they knew Bush deserved a break for something that wasn't his fault to begin with. Even the late actor and prominent left wing activist Ron Silver stood with president Bush after the bad hand he'd been dealt. Continued...
The right wing wasn't concerned with protecting the nation they were out to preserve their power and at any cost. They weren't unpatriotic but they were mean spirited and supported the dehumanization of the people on the left. It wasn't enough for them to criticize their ideas they had to destroy them utterly and therein lies their down fall. They have been so focused on perceived enemies here in this country that they forgot about running the nation competently. Continued...
Hm?I think the difference between Bush and Obamas support is unfair considering that even the liberals stood behind Bush at first and rose to the occassion and had nothing but respect for him even if he was a Republican. His last year was not the best for our country and his incompetence was justifiably criticized whereas you won't even give Obama a chance.I pity you and know that when you stand before the king of kings at judgement he will say, " I did not know you." TRY to be a patriot, please.
Frank, you are knowledgeable about Christian Reconstruction and Rushdoony but you misrepresented them in huffingtonpost. Rushdoony has never denied interracial marriage because of "unequal yoke" but because races should be maintained as they are because God wishes each race to be unique. So he has never called interracial marriage "sin" but not preferable. Actually, he, Armenian (genetically half black), married a white women and allowed Gary North, white, to marry his daughter.
Regarding southern slaves, he has never approved of kidnapped slave systems, because in the Bible, to which he tried best to conform his thoughts, kidnapped slave owners and sellers shall be executed.
Regarding Tim LaHey, Rushdoony was against dispensationalism, so putting him into the same category with Tim, a dispensational premillenialist, is outrageously wrong.
Rush consistently rejected social reformation based on violence and terrorism, who were well aware that "Biblical laws, like execution of homosexuals, shall only be applied to the people that have already accepted to make the covenant with God and obey the laws", because he consistently said, "social change only follows heart change: conversions". Regarding 6 million holocaust, Rush just denied the number in the context of his argument that the number of war victims tend to be exaggerated.
i went from a republican to a libertarian, cause i generally agree with what he is saying, but i wouldn't go so far as to say that i would endorse obama, I don't think the REAL Schaeffer would be happy with that
Four thousand babies a day, many of them black, die by abortion. Thanks, Frank, for being a cheerleader for death. Your father would be proud you are now serving the devil.
Franky has been changing his mind all his life and regretting everything he's done. He went from Evangelical to failed film maker, to anti-abortionist, to Evangelical art critic, to anti-Evangelical, to Orthodox, to non-Orthodox, to anti Republican, to anti war. Come on Franky when are you going to flat out deny Christ and announce you are an Atheist? You are headed that way. You have two options left. Communism and Atheism. Dont make us wait another 5 years for your next big announcement.
If you would care to read a response to the latest incarnation of Frank Schaeffer and his book, "Crazy for God", by someone who knows him well, Google the following:
"Os Guinness Frank Schaeffer"
Click on the first hit, 'Fathers and Sons-Books & Culture'.
If you would care to read a response to the latest incarnation of Frank Schaeffer and his book, "Crazy for God", by someone who knows him well, Google the following:

Guiness has vested ulterior pecuniary motives for attacking Schaeffer and pandering to the Christian Righties: the latter are his meal ticket.
As usual with his crowd, it's an agenda masquarading under the rubic of "traditional family values", but bought and paid for by those who are funding their platitudes.
"Pecuniary motives"? Why not just say that he is in it for the money?
Where is your evidence? Are you dismissing Guinness's ideas out of hand because you have a distaste for his philosophical worldview? If so, please tell me on which points you disagree?
You refer to an "agenda masquerading under the rubric of 'traditional family values'". Could you please explain the hidden agenda as you see it?
I agree and im a Moderate Republican saying so, The party is DEAD, its been poisoned by the FANATICALS in the party.
Moderate Republicans will have to form a NEW party or attack the Current Republican party and take down these FANATICALS running it and take the party back! Back into the hands of the Moderates and sensible people.
Moderates band together and kick the CRAZIES out, Why do Limbaugh, Gingrich and Idiots like Tancredo speaking for the GOP? Its crazy...
BenAligator, I like the way you think. The Republican party has to return to its fiscal philosophy and start telling these "vermin" as you so wisely call them to go back to the slime, piss and shit filled gutters that they oozed from. I wish more people in the party had the guts to stand up to them and let them know EXACTLY how unwelcome they really are. I gave you a thumbs up for your bravery. I'm a democrat but I'd vote for a reasonable Republican. I like Ron Paul on some issues.
you can go to church your hole life and not be a bible thumper. bible thumpers are people who go around acting holier than tho and attempt to force their veiws of the bible on everone else.
obama essentially said in his book that he only started going to that church for politics in chicago, he might believe in god i don't know if does or doesn't. it is safe to say that he isn't attempting to force his religous veiws on others. bush did.
all churches are fanatical about their take on god.
Evolver, as no follower of George Bush, I have to say that you are misinformed.
Faith based initiatives - first, Bush is not an evangelical, nor did he limit funding to evangelical churches. the initiative is to help churches to help people. President Obama says he supports the initiative.
Iraq War - I can't say, I don't know what his personal motives might have been and others are just speculating.
Stem cell research - how can he be against stem cell research when he was the first President to provide funding for the research?
Schiavo - I can't say, I don't recall what part Bush played. I recall Congress making a big deal about it and no, I didn't agree with it.
Talking about God - what do you mean? Saying God bless America? Wow! He must think he's a prophet! Obama speaks just as much, if not more, about God and faith.
the iraq war- he only used terms like "crusade", and it turns out that he had biblical quotes on every breifing cover pages. it seems rather hard to deny that he didn't have some religious motivation.
faith based initiatives- go look at the lists of religious groups recieving funding, nearly all of the money went to evangelical chruches. go read the books by the people who were in his FaithBI, they even talk about the bush bias against non-evangelical groups.
I never swallowed the Kool Aid that Bush was a "born again Evangelical Christian." It was a claim that came about when he launched his political career in the Bible Belt of Texas .
Had George Dumbya been running for Congress from Williamsburg, Brooklyn, he would have had his bris at age 40 nationally televised. Or, had he run from Dearborn, Michigan, he would have started facing Mecca & bowing 5 times daily.
His was a "faith experience" born of political expedience. Nothing more.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
That's your problem You judge him without knowing him.
I went to highschool with the President Physician that traveled with him everywhere. He personally had many 1 on 1 spiritual moments & worship with GWB -- in PRIVATE!
GWB also practiced what he believes -- turn the other cheek. He didn't come out & slam anyone & was kind to all.
Our family know the Bush family -- have been in his Sunday classes he taught.
It's the real deal & came prior to his ever wanting to run for any office.
Funny how Bush's "real deal" Christianity began when he was trying to jumpstart a political career in a Bible thumping backwater, isn't it? If he had tried to jumpstart the same career in Dearborn, MI, he'd be facing Mecca & bowing 6 times a day as well as dressing like he were headed to a Shriner convention.
His "faith" is as much a "real deal" as your bullshit stories about claiming to know his family, and being related to Al Gore. No one's impressed with your delusions.
Thank you Frank

@Patriot1862 You are so fucking stupid you don't even know what communism is, you just use the word as an insult - under the Obama administration and with the support of most members of congress billions of dollars have been hand over to corporations and banks (ie bailouts) not something that a 'communist' would do. Communism has not brought relief to the majority as promised, nor has it ended oppression as purposed.

uncledarnell 1 year ago
@uncledarnell That is called an ad hominem attack in logic. I'm not attacking the man for being gay. I'm just telling you why he defected from the Christian right. The church does not except homosexuality as a healthy form of sexual behavior. In fact they perceive is as sinful. Mr. Schaeffer can't live in a closet anymore, therefore, Mr. Schaeffer is retaliating against the Christian right.
nef2442 1 year ago

Thank god your ilk is becoming more and more isolated and ineffectual in American society.
richwfd2002 1 year ago
@richwfd2002 Atheists are parasites you don't add anything to society and ride on the coat tails of a Christian legacy. BTW Jesus didn't condone slavery he simply referred to the issue. Jesus understood slavery would be around forever. There is more slavery today then their was during the antebellum South. In Africa, and most Muslim countries, along with India and China, slavery is very prevalent. Jesus was speaking to the hearts of people in bondage. Different from condoning slavery.
nef2442 1 year ago
@nef2442 I believe we have pots calling kettles black here, mr. or mrs. faux "christian". AND Jesus did condone slavery! Check out Eph 6:5, Tim 6:1-2 and Luke 12;47-48 before you start flappin' your hypocritical gums and calling others parasites, hypocrite! There are other passages as well.

@nef2442 ROFL@atheists are parasites. At least they don't kill by the droves unlike other people of certain faiths. You are mistaken about your place in the world. Obedience is more important because knowledge is 'evil'.
abby495 1 year ago
@abby495 atheists have the most blood on their hands. Pol Pot, Mao, Lenin, & Stalin were atheist leaders who were following Marxist tenets calling for the obliteration of all religion in their countries. Communism is an atheist doctrine that has killed 100 million in the last century and is still killing!!!!! That's more than all of the deaths attributed to Christianity and Judaism put together in the last 4,000 years.
nef2442 1 year ago
@nef2442 Nope. Just because Communism caused many deaths is no reason to sanctify your religion where millions were tortured and butchered in inhumane ways esp women and children your Gods genocide speciality. You may be sick of us but the U.S. is sick bcuz of you.

Or else a big black dick will fall out of the sky and slap the frigid compliments of Osiris/Dionysius/Shiva the real Gods who ever mattered.
abby495 1 year ago
@abby495 The reason being gay is an issue here, is because Homosexuality is not acceptable in the church. In other words, If stealing cookies was against church constraints, Mr. Schaeffer's hand was caught in the cookie jar. Therefore, he finds it personally befitting to contend against the entire institution. You can't show up to a football game with a tennis racket, or else the team is going to let you go. Moreover, if you think the team is unfair, than you are being doubly unfair!

"I pity you and know that when you stand before the king of kings at judgement he will say, "I did not know you."
> How can you possibly decipher my eternal standing from my comment? Talk about a non-sequitur!
"TRY to be a patriot, please."
> As I've said, a "Patriot" is one who dissents from a tyrannical gov't. I do this; ergo, I am a "patriot."
& if Obama is into big gov't (like Bush was), then no, I won't give him a chance. He swore to uphold the Constitution; he should read it.

Regarding southern slaves, he has never approved of kidnapped slave systems, because in the Bible, to which he tried best to conform his thoughts, kidnapped slave owners and sellers shall be executed.
zzztopzzz 2 years ago

"Os Guinness Frank Schaeffer"
Guiness has vested ulterior pecuniary motives for attacking Schaeffer and pandering to the Christian Righties: the latter are his meal ticket.
As usual with his crowd, it's an agenda masquarading under the rubic of "traditional family values", but bought and paid for by those who are funding their platitudes.
BenAliGtor 2 years ago
"Pecuniary motives"? Why not just say that he is in it for the money?
Where is your evidence? Are you dismissing Guinness's ideas out of hand because you have a distaste for his philosophical worldview? If so, please tell me on which points you disagree?
You refer to an "agenda masquerading under the rubric of 'traditional family values'". Could you please explain the hidden agenda as you see it?

NeoFacism = NeoCons :0)

Spot ON, Taino. It's OUR party. Let's purge it of these vermin.
BenAliGtor 2 years ago 2
BenAligator, I like the way you think. The Republican party has to return to its fiscal philosophy and start telling these "vermin" as you so wisely call them to go back to the slime, piss and shit filled gutters that they oozed from. I wish more people in the party had the guts to stand up to them and let them know EXACTLY how unwelcome they really are. I gave you a thumbs up for your bravery. I'm a democrat but I'd vote for a reasonable Republican. I like Ron Paul on some issues.

obama isn't a bible thumper
TheEvolver311 2 years ago
How does that respond to Obama's twenty year membership at Jeremiah's Wright's fanatical church?
What exactly is a "Bible thumper"?
TrooperRaven 2 years ago
you can go to church your hole life and not be a bible thumper. bible thumpers are people who go around acting holier than tho and attempt to force their veiws of the bible on everone else.
obama essentially said in his book that he only started going to that church for politics in chicago, he might believe in god i don't know if does or doesn't. it is safe to say that he isn't attempting to force his religous veiws on others. bush did.
all churches are fanatical about their take on god.

Please explain in what way George W. Bush forced his religious views on others?
TrooperRaven 2 years ago
faith based initiatives- which he only gave money to churches that were evangelical like his own
the iraq war- which as it turns out he really did believe that god was calling for him to do.
stem cell research- totally based on his religious beliefs
the schiavo incident
and walking around talking about god all the damn time.
TheEvolver311 2 years ago 6
Fair enough. So it is all this talk about God that irritates you?
Do you believe that there are moral absolutes? In other words, is there a line, a moral line, that you think is wrong for any man to cross?
TrooperRaven 2 years ago
Evolver, as no follower of George Bush, I have to say that you are misinformed.
Faith based initiatives - first, Bush is not an evangelical, nor did he limit funding to evangelical churches. the initiative is to help churches to help people. President Obama says he supports the initiative.
Iraq War - I can't say, I don't know what his personal motives might have been and others are just speculating.
carterblance 2 years ago
To Evolver cont.
Obama speaks just as much, if not more, about God and faith.
carterblance 2 years ago
the iraq war- he only used terms like "crusade", and it turns out that he had biblical quotes on every breifing cover pages. it seems rather hard to deny that he didn't have some religious motivation.
faith based initiatives- go look at the lists of religious groups recieving funding, nearly all of the money went to evangelical chruches. go read the books by the people who were in his FaithBI, they even talk about the bush bias against non-evangelical groups.
TheEvolver311 2 years ago 4
I never swallowed the Kool Aid that Bush was a "born again Evangelical Christian." It was a claim that came about when he launched his political career in the Bible Belt of Texas .
Had George Dumbya been running for Congress from Williamsburg, Brooklyn, he would have had his bris at age 40 nationally televised. Or, had he run from Dearborn, Michigan, he would have started facing Mecca & bowing 5 times daily.
His was a "faith experience" born of political expedience. Nothing more.
BenAliGtor 2 years ago
Everything you say may be accurate. But how do you KNOW these things? Can you see into a man's heart? No.

Serafinos 2 years ago
Funny how Bush's "real deal" Christianity began when he was trying to jumpstart a political career in a Bible thumping backwater, isn't it? If he had tried to jumpstart the same career in Dearborn, MI, he'd be facing Mecca & bowing 6 times a day as well as dressing like he were headed to a Shriner convention.
His "faith" is as much a "real deal" as your bullshit stories about claiming to know his family, and being related to Al Gore. No one's impressed with your delusions.
BenAliGtor 2 years ago
With it was only delusions about Al Gore being our cousin. TRULY!
Sadly -- it's a fact, Jack!
Far as GWB's faith -- God will be the Judge in the end... not you or I.
Bottom line -- nobody cares what left-wing moonbats think.
GWB doesn't judge others & is kind, even to the most bashing, foul language & idiots like those 2 in the video.
CLUELESS!
