Thank you so much for posting. I think that is about twice the number of cars the "Daylight" usually ran with... I was raised just south of San Jose, "Coyote Station". Every morning the "Daylight" would pass by our school at about 10:00 AM.. It usually ran with about 6 or 7 cars, but it was fast, it would "high ball" thru that section of track... It was a very dangerous section of track for the locals. No crossing bars, and not every crossing had a warning device. The graded crossings didn't.

Very cool indeed.
I am getting ready to head from whitefish to memphis next week on amtrak and it's my first train trip so I am excited about it.
We went up towards east glacier today to marias pass and I could see some of the route that the train will take next week. I also saw my first snowshed today. LOL, I had to ask what it was as I had never seen one before.

No ! The diesel was there for electric power to the passenger cars and for backup, just in case!
