I have 2 solutions for this video..either marry jack white or marry me..Tribe..jk.. i know she can only have one love other than after a pitcher of slow gin fizz
Listened to this and I thought of a friend that lost her husband so I sent it to share it with her. Thank you for posting it. Always love Loretta's music.
When I hear this play, I think about him and I close my eyes and I remember him holding me and laughing at me and arguing with me and making up with me and I miss all the joys and sorrows of being his wife. I miss being Mrs. Everynight and especially tonight after listening to this song again. Thank you and bless you for bringing him home to me one more time....even if it is only in memory tonight.
Awww, Loretta misses her Mooney:( She's so precious. Taking my 7 year old daughter to see her next Sunday night! We are SO excited. Oh, and if I'm not mistaken Mrs. Loretta is 78!
Loretta is like 70, I highly doubt her and Jack slept together :S Not that a woman that age can't have sex but just... I mean, he was in his twenties. Just... no.
I love her though. Her voice is beautiful and she conveys herself amazingly in her songs.
Beautiful video by a beautiful LADY! Long before videos came into vogue, Loretta could say what she was feeling in a song anyone could identify with. This video is the next evolution in her fantastic career. You can empathize with her loss (she lost the love of her life Doo before the video was made) and feel her pain if you've ever lost someone you loved as dearly. Loretta is truly a remarkable woman who bounces back time and again - and WE ALL LOVE HER!
I'm fifteen years old.. I have the honky tonk girl collection along with two of her cds. She is my absolute favorite singer to ever walk the Earth. There will NEVER be another Loretta Lynn. Everybody picks on me for liking such old music when all the other kids are listening to Lil wayne and all this mess.. But this will always be my music. <3 I got to see her in concert in june.. probably the best night of my life! Love you miss loretta!
She's one of the few artists that can convey the emotion in their songs. She actually makes me feel the pain and loneliness of a widow and I've never even been married. Good work Loretta

i LOVE IT! The First Lady of Country music came back and showed these youngsters in Nashville how its truly done old school! She left them slack-jawed and wide-eyed in awe of the Coall Miners Daughter, and they all bowed in respect to the reigning Queen of Country! Love she shocked everybody by having a hard Indy like Jack White play a beautiful acoustic on Loretta own guitar. ALL HAIL THE QUEEN!!!!
I find it kind of ridiculous that johnny cash got all the credit as the still-relevant, courageous, brave country legend of the decade, when loretta gave us what was no doubt the best country album in quite some time by a long shot. love johnny, of course, but still.
My mother is a coal miner's daughter. She married my father in 1947, having met him in 1946, the first love of her life. She was 19, he was a handsome sailor of 21. He died young at 52, when she was 50. She says,"I had the best." She's now 83. Love is love is love. As John Lennon said, "God bless our love".
My home is very close to Nashville so it is sad for me to say. Nashville is a town for tourist, models, money and record companies. The Grand Ole O pry is much more than a showcase for pickers and singers these days. Its a huge money making complex. Its not the sweet sound of The Rhyman anymore. If your a real country artist respect the music and folks like Lorreta.. Nashville ain't the only town with a bar and you sure as hell don't need Nashville to tell you what Country Music is. Thanks Jack.
@PoolhouseProduction why did they move the grand ole opry from the rhyman? was it space and they wanted more people for more money? what do they use the ryman for these days? i've seen it in a few videos and specials. if you know, thanks

For all of you who speculate on Loretta and Doolittle's marriage, read her second biography, "Still Woman Enough". True to form, Loretta doesn't pull any punches and tells how difficult the marriage was at times. She also tells how that as her husband passed away, she could find no anger in her heart for him. Theirs was a complicated relationship and while I don't approve of the way her husband treated her, it's not my place nor any of yours to judge.
One of the best albums of the last decade, any genre. She is still leagues more progressive than any of her counterparts in the country game. I hope we get something new soon.

@MrsArrik well actually they fought terribly, buy loretta was old-school and plus was married to him at 13 (eek). what else did she know? besides this was bound to be with marrying an older man. regardless though i wish she and white would do another album!
I don't know his music that well, but I sure thought it was cool the way he stuck up for her "age" in the 60 minutes piece, pointing out that country radio and the cma will play "ride a cowboy" 10 times a day, but wouldn't play "Portland Oregon" even once.
Just because Loretta is "old".
He's right, they don't respect their elders. Shame on them I say.
That's the original Coal Miner's Daughter dress that Loretta wore on the LP by the same name back in 1970. What an awesome historic house with large columns on three sides of the antebellum home.
@cherokee316 U better believe she's still got it, she's amazing but I'm still holding out for this new album that we've been promised for a few years now.... C'mon Loretta!!
Van Lear Rose wa ssuch a great album. I like how shes singing with no effects or over produced backing music. Just her raw voice, remind sme of some of the later Johnny Cash stuff with just his acoustic.
Love this song , i grew up hearing alot of her and tammy johnny cash and hank williams and kitty wells ,, my mother loved them all so she played all there music all the time ... thanks mom ! and thanks loretta you got great music
TN is where country music's true country singers come from. Same for the other southern states. I don't wanna sound prejudiced, but I really don't think true country singers have Yankee accents and come from around the world and strut their stuff and drown the true country instruments with a mixture of pop and rock. I mean come on! I respect them, but I don't classify Taylor Swift or Keith Urban as country. Nuh uh! Just statin my opinion. Coming from a Nashville woman.
Baby its Valentines Day today, I lost you on the 3rd of Dec. oh how I miss you and I so miss being Mrs. everynight gets longer and longer but I'll never take off my wedding band just can't do that, I am just waitingfor theday we are together again, I will always be your Mrs. I love you "Baby". your loving wife forever and always!
I am sure she will, I can tell you have a kind heart and a good soul, just by the way you feel about this song, I just posted it for my beloved husband, I lost him Dec3rd I miss him oh so much, I pray neither of you ever feel such pain!
okay, my fiancee just told me the alleged affair was all over the media . . . whenever this was, what five years ago? fuck, even now, i have to say-i don't blame him. no disrespect intended.
i don't know mrtripendicular's problem, but they obviously don't get it. loretta lynn is above that. and, jack white would have certainly had too much respect . . . even with such a beautiful lady.
Loretta is amazing, a true legend who is sadly forgotten by most of the world of music which is ridiculous because she deserves all the credit she gets. Her voice is as good as it was 30 years ago.
poor loretta lynn her husband dolittle lynn died in 1996 from diabetes....so hard on loretta first time on her own she went straight from her daddy to doolittle.......RIP doo nicknname mooney from making moonshine where they grew up at Butcher Hollow....i grew up o n loretta lynn's music.....and i know one day she will be with her dear husband again :'(
this song makes me cry. cause i picture myself singing that about my husband. thank god he aint dead tho. but if he was this would be my song. i love him so much and this song
My family and I spend some time on the road and decided to visit Tennessee.Being only 32 I consider Loretta Lynn a true American country singer who sings with passion. We happened upon Hurricane Mills by luck and boy did we make a day of at her ranch.True country is dieing and Loretta is one of the few left who sing for real.Being 32 I decided about a year ago to turn the radio off since all they play is crap.Thank You Loretta for your awesome voice and heartfelt songs and may god bless you.
Just want to take a minute and reflect how it is the guys mostly associated with rock music such as Jack White and producer Rick Ruben who rediscover these wonderful institutions of classic country music like Loretta Lynn and Johny Cash, who the country recording industry tossed away like old trash in favor of Keith Urban and Toby Keith, and create masterpieces with them. The country music industry today is a load of horse shit. I want to thank the true lovers of music for giving us this.
Preach!! Treasures like Loretta should be revered. That country radio ignored this masterpiece in favour of throw away songs and artists that no one will remember in 1 year is a crime. thank goodness for YouTube.
No kidding, country music radio is the most washed out garbage out there. The whole fact they decided to just cut out the dixie chicks because of their political views is the biggest heap of shit I've ever heard, did they forget about the music?
being a younger guy, I'm so thankful for Jack White man. I would have never been exposed to anything pure really if it weren't for him, really. Renaissance.
That is the problem anymore, isn't it, that so little in music or anything feels pure and untainted. It's like the culture has been turned into a giant plastic theme park nestled in mountains of corporate dollars. I mean American Idol is this generation's musical touchstone...holy fuck! God knows where the next authentic scene will happen...probably from the trading of self-made mp3s on a forum somewhere..then immediately bought up by Time-Warner and used to market its various media interests.
@psychicwhoosh today's mainstream country is just pop with cheesy, twangy guitars, fake southern accents and ridiculously naive conservative patriotism messages.
Jack White is awesome. This album wouldn't have been made without him. He talked her into it. The story behind it is interesting, dig it up and read it
i love her and her music...and watching coal miners daughter was awesome...true love like me and my husband....the only thing different about her and i is i would die without my husband....i love him so much....thanks for sharing this song
I just love this woman, we were in New Orlean , Memphis and Nashville and we passed her area but the bus trip would go past it so we have to go back soon till lgo to her ranch, i cut a record while l was in Memphis please look at it , you can find it on youtube under Cheralyn, let me know what u think folks, i am from Scotland away up in the highlands X

Coming from a Nashville woman.

okay, my fiancee just told me the alleged affair was all over the media . . . whenever this was, what five years ago? fuck, even now, i have to say-i don't blame him. no disrespect intended.

i don't know mrtripendicular's problem, but they obviously don't get it. loretta lynn is above that. and, jack white would have certainly had too much respect . . . even with such a beautiful lady.

Loretta is amazing, a true legend who is sadly forgotten by most of the world of music which is ridiculous because she deserves all the credit she gets. Her voice is as good as it was 30 years ago.
Jack White is a genius with the Midas touch

This reminds me of Johnny Cash's video for Hurt. Very well done. Her brooch, Jack playing her guitar, everything in this video is perfect.

Amen!

Preach!! Treasures like Loretta should be revered. That country radio ignored this masterpiece in favour of throw away songs and artists that no one will remember in 1 year is a crime. thank goodness for YouTube.
cjuntrin 2 years ago 8
No kidding, country music radio is the most washed out garbage out there. The whole fact they decided to just cut out the dixie chicks because of their political views is the biggest heap of shit I've ever heard, did they forget about the music?

being a younger guy, I'm so thankful for Jack White man. I would have never been exposed to anything pure really if it weren't for him, really. Renaissance.
elanmak 2 years ago 9
That is the problem anymore, isn't it, that so little in music or anything feels pure and untainted. It's like the culture has been turned into a giant plastic theme park nestled in mountains of corporate dollars. I mean American Idol is this generation's musical touchstone...holy fuck! God knows where the next authentic scene will happen...probably from the trading of self-made mp3s on a forum somewhere..then immediately bought up by Time-Warner and used to market its various media interests.
psychicwhoosh 2 years ago
and rock and roll is being sold as a video game now... thanks corporate!
elanmak 2 years ago 2
@psychicwhoosh today's mainstream country is just pop with cheesy, twangy guitars, fake southern accents and ridiculously naive conservative patriotism messages.

@psychicwhoosh the reason jack white is in with loretta is his roots are the blues and he preffers the blues from the 30s or the depression blues
