Can't we just agree that AC is good music? Better than most? And their sound changes. Even though Merriweather Post Pavillion (which I personally love) might not be as up there as Sung Tongs or Strawberry Jam, its still great music. Ok. Agreed

I found it odd when I saw them to see Black Dice to OPEN for Animal Collective. I'm aware that AC is the bigger band, but Black Dice's performance was so intense. Regardless of who you are, you will feel different after one of their shows. And the closed mind will probably feel confused.

After seeing both of them live, Animal Collective are pussies, as much as I love them, the Black Dice are new, and willing to make new sounds regaurdless of thier audience, I appreciate that so much more than trying to appeal to the masses as Animal Collective seemed to do with thier latest album "Merriweather Post Pavillion"... Don't get me wrong, they're both GREAT bands, but I respect/enjoy the Black Dice a lot more, especially after seeing them live.

I agree with you but I really don't know if I'd call animal collective pussies.

Some of animal collectives older stuff and older live concerts were OUT THERE. REALLY OUT THERE. Like screaming for no reason and just going FUCKIN NUTS on stage.

But I have to agree that with merriweather post pavillion they lowered their energy level down a bit. Im pissed but I def think they are still AMAZING.

I saw them live like 2 months ago...good stuff.

Im gonna see black dice and AC live soon CANT WAIT!

Dude, the same thing happened with the Killers- Day & Age was lame, they totally sold out to teeny boppers and lost their sweet indie rock feel. Lame.

i dont think they did that, not even remotely. and when i opened my mind to that, the music was incredible. the thing with MPP is that they sublimated that fucked up energy of theirs into a calmer, lower bass heavy sound. it was intentional as far as they wanted to create something new that felt good to them, i dont think they give two fucks about what people expect. what the true fans expect is music that is honest and can give you an 'alive' experience.
