  • Interesting !

  • This video certainly brings back memories of a cherished part of my life. I knew the man while he yet walked among us and learned so much from him. He certainly experienced life and tried to share that experience with all he came in contact with. It would be well for any who study to study his life and words...

  • Yes, a drop from the heart! Otherwise you risk playing typewriter, not piano.

  • "I resent that."

  • Perfect advice to students, who must master every technical skill and yet, when it is time to perform, actually play music, the whole point of which is not a mathematical exercise.

  • @Hypatiarhetoric, Even when practicing it's my philosophy to allow technique to be something of artistic value rather than simply viewing it as a means to an end. And you're right, the whole point of me posting this clip of Rubinstein is because I see far too many idiots who know nothing of what it is to be a real artist. Truly deplorable when such ignorance runs around rampantly through the minds of students (and even established performers!). They are nothing more than musical parrots.

  • ugh i know the piece in the background but i can't think of what it is. its chopin right? what is it?

  • @ugottheblues, It's the first movement of the second concerto in f minor by Chopin.

  • Oh yes! Thanks Advisor!
