  • LOL my algaue eater does that for me, he just goes on my turtles back and does the job

  • if you use spring water in your tank (clean regularly) but use a feeding tank (empty daily & fill with same temp water thats in their tank) your turtle should stay free of algae. dont hold them, just transfer them to their feeding tank for an hour or 2 a day. i love my turtles and i will respect them to do whats best for them

  • @BB117JUNKIE I like you (:

  • Some kinds of algae can grow under the scales and harm the turtle. That happened to my turtle. She acted really sick and I cleaned her shell with Dove and a soft toothbrush and she brightened up almost immediately after.

  • i use a toothbrush

  • As long as their enclosure is kept free of algae, then the turtle will become algae free.

  • hello my name is tim coll and i dont know shit about turtles and i suk dick for a living

  • @beaner1196 I heard that from tim aswell.

  • who hired this nigga

  • HI MY NAME IS TIM BALL ...

  • * i am sorry, but my turtle has no reason to camoflauge in his tank... Not to mention, that you just told me to remove my turtle from his home, and you contradicted yourself saying that it is not a good idea...WHAT THE HECK?

For all those who are wondering how to actually do it, take a soft face cloth, and submerge it in very warm water for about 1 minute. Then, starting at the back of the shell wipe up very hardly, but w/out harming the turtle. da turtle should be @ least 5 yrs old b4 doin this

  • "Because naturally, in the wild" turtles don't life in 10 gallon puddles of water, dumbfuck. Get a 75 gallon or something, you're in a fucking pet store.

  • I just use a clean toothbrush to clean mine... It's worked so far and I've had tem for about a year.

  • ExpeertVillage really are a bunch of fools. Half the ime they have no idea what their talking about and as for this video title, I don't need to explain whats wrong there.

  • hhhahahaha when you but an algae eater in there all hell breaks lose

  • Yea well my turtle doesnt live in the wild...

  • I just power washed my turtles shell at the car wash.

  • i like the part where he tells us how to clean our turtles shell.

  • i like the part where he tells us how to clean our turtles shells.

  • Wow whata idiot... Why clean it 1) it looks better 2) it is healthier 3) it is safer so you dont drop him 4) he doesnt need to camoflauge!!!!

  • LOL

  • Ello there. Am was wonderin how to make a rattle out of my here turtle's shell. I was watchin that Dizny cartoon called Hocapontis and that thar engine was usin his turtle shell as a rattle. I already got mine gutted out, but I caint pry it open. How do I pry open my turtle's shell?

  • @GarySpatzScam your turtle might die if you pry it open.turtle's flesh is attacked to its shell.

  • @nhickvicky dude... read the comment again

  • use a toothbrush. sprinkle sand on the carapace and scrub with toothbrush, rinse and repeat with the plastron. not washing your turtles shell allows it to harbor harmful bacteria and parasites, which lead to disease and illness in your turtle. and yes its a good idea to do this with tortoises as well but replace the sand with water, and only do it once a month or so.

  • stupid youtube, just backspace on the web address to visit the site.

  • I have a baby turtle his shell is sort of crack idk what to do ? Someone help please

  • @2231Dave Hi dave, visit this site,

    red ear slider. com /shell_conditions.

it has thourough info! Good luck, hope your little friend feels better!

  • Question, Spiny soft shell turtles, (in water 95% of the time).

They they also need a ,UV light (over tank) ?

  • i just by a algea fish! lol! grabs on to the turtle! kinda funny!

  • THX for the tips!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a turtle too and its name is Stripy. Its a female:D

  • I clean my turtles shell with a toothbrush all the time never had a problem if they are shedding their shell i don't .

  • i have had 2 red eared sliders for a while now... when i clean their tank i use a soft sponge and water to clean their shells it works really good. i used to caare for my brothers RES and we use to use a soft toothbrush for her shell. so either one is good.

  • if the turtle in our aquarium should look neat, cleaning the shell is a good thing..just brush it off just with water..if not also i dont think it would be a problem...

  • maybe use a toothbrush???

  • this vid said HOW TO CLEAN A TURTLE SHELL but he said that u shouldnt worry about the shell

there was no point in making this video

  • Md Shafiiz ,your turtles eyes sound swollen, and could have something to do with bacteria or chlorine breeding in the water. I would call a vet right away and have it checked out!!! (hope im not too late though)

  • Yay Austin!!!!! Thats my hometown :D

  • This videos title says HOW to clean a turtle shell, this dude tells us not too?

    wtf

  • @ExpertAnimal

he tell's that it doesn't need to get cleaned because in the nature they doesn't have people who clean there shell so don't do that ;)

  • good

  • Hey expertvillage , i am facing a problem here . My turtle simply wont open its eyes and i dont know why . Anyhow has any idea why is this happening ?

  • @MdShafiz you have to de-chlorine the water tap water is very harmful to them

  • @MdShafiz ur turtle is dead

  • Could you use a soft toothbrush and slowly brush it in circles?

    Just wondering :P

  • @lunarheart14 thats what i do

  • @lunarheart14 I do that did you ever find out if its ok?

  • Just keep fish that eat the algae off the turtles shell. My Albino RES doesn't bother with fish since he grew up with them. He's used to them on his shell when he sleeps or when he's swimming around the tank

  • how do u make turtle not smell mine smells like poo lol

  • lol, good luck with that.

  • lol

  • clean the water and the shell.

  • my turtle is clean always never was dirty, in fact my turtle is really civilized and polite, it belongs to a familly of kings and princes !

  • i clean my turtle's shell

She is an estern painted turtle (aquatic)

i usually wash it with my hands. i feed her before i wash her so she is soaked and the algae comes out easily sense its wet.

  • what if your turtle is a land turtle and the shell is dirty? like say it had mold or dog spit or something on it?

  • grab a clean cloth (preferably old or not wanted cloth but make sure it is clean, no products in it) put water on cloth (dip it on water or so) then wash the turtle (cloth bath)

Don't rub it or force it might hurt the turtle, be gentle.

  • Naturaly in the wild, turtles can bask and dry themselves out a lot better than they can in captivity. I clean my turt's shells, terrestrial and aquatic. Since they can't select their enviornment as well as they can in the wild, its up to me to help them out.

  • doesnt tell you HOW to, tells you NOT to clean it. Change the title.

  • That's not cleaning the shell, it's telling not to clean the shell

  • haha I soO AGREE. lol he didn't say how to clean the shell at all. What I do to keep the turtles shell clean is keep Otocinclus Catfish to eat off the algae from the shell of the turtle. Same thing with Siamese Algae Eaters.

  • i just take a toothbrush and scrub their shell softly and change the water and put them back

  • well u r right they need it the algea but change the title to something like:Pet Turtle Care:About Turtle Shells.

  • thats not how you clean a turtle shell

  • use turtle wax? j/k

  • i like your tips though because the turtle isnt in its natural home and generally in a tank could the algea growing on it not increase the risk of diseases or illnesses??

  • Great way is Tooth brush and Water.

  • I just clean my turtle's shell with water because I was told the algae can get him sick.

  • nah it wont get them sick, although for a pet turtle that lives indoors its pointless for them to continue to have it on there shell.
