I was expecting much louder but it was fine. A lot louder than any other band of the festival but it was just a total gift being that close and experiencing that show.
The last time I saw MBV was when they opened for Dinosaur Jr. in 92 and blew them the fuck off the stage. I drove 8 hours and spent three days in that desert to watch them again. If you were there; count yourself blessed. The noisy and droning bits of songs at the end; the ones that make people cover their ears because they can't stand it...That is what makes them...MY BLOODY VALENTINE. A-fuckin-men
I could finally see My Bloody Valentine live... they were amazing, although they could have cut that long extension, in the song that lasted for about 20 minutes, in half.
They are one of the loudest, ravishing, superb and strangest bands that anyone can see live!
It's called the Noise Holocaust and it is an integral part of their shows. There was much more than one "note" in that...it was a universe of sound, just very noisy and at incredibly high volumes.
I was amazed when the crowd thinned out after the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I was about 40ft straight back from Bilinda, and was absolutely floored. This was stunningly good, and really one of just two or three reasons I absolutely had to go to Cocahella '09. Thanks for the upload.
I was at the very front on the left fences and it was amazing!! I'm a harcore Cure fan and I also deeply admire MBV for being the shoegaze pioneers, I love that genre, so there...
besides... what Cure fan is ignorant enough not to be familiar with MBV???
This was by this by far the "quietest" MBV show I've ever seen (since 1991 I've seen 4). And they were quite good. I never had to wear my ear plugs even!
I've got a question: Is it possible for MBV to have a bad show? If so, HOW THE HELL WOULD YOU KNOW!!!
I began to wonder to myself, "how can so many people truly enjoy this?" But I do think I've done figured it out! Can't you see what's happening!!!! All you feeble minded followers have been exposed to mind numbing subliminal messages behind the white noise. You're all brainwashed. It's the only possible explanation.
P.S. Do MBV fans like BRMC? Or are they completely opposed to good music?
I got my way up to the front no problem.
