In this game, Dante, if following the canon, is in his mid to late thirties, and he's facing what is basically the biggest, baddest demon there is. Anyone facing that kind of challenge would be serious about it. He mocks Arius several times, but when it comes to the Argosax and Despair, he's extremely collected.
@Zant5976 Where does it fall into the actual storyline? The only canon games that we know of are 3, 1, and 4. 2 has nearly nothing to do with the sons of sparda specifically. 4 could be considered non-canon, but it's tied to dmc3 by Virgil's Yamato.
and even if it was canon, Capcom made it very clear that they wanted to leave dmc2 in the past.

If you look in the trailer you can see his hair starting to turn white. It's lie the beginning of the story before Virgil before everything. Just to clear things up. Dmc4 is before 2. Nero says "the guy just came
from Hell" because he thinks Dante is an ordinary demon. If he knew who he was then he wouldn't have been so suprised to hear Agnus say his name. So yeah... In a sense, Dante could still be in Hell. The motorcycle could've been Lady or Trish.. Or even Nero. But yeah the order is 3,1, anime,4, and 2.

Well Dante was not a loose cannon in the origional. He only was in DMC3 which hadn't even come out at the time. So this Dante is actually closer to the origional and the one you see in DMC3 came about as a result of people hating how he was in DMC2.

In this game, Dante, if following the canon, is in his mid to late thirties, and he's facing what is basically the biggest, baddest demon there is. Anyone facing that kind of challenge would be serious about it. He mocks Arius several times, but when it comes to the Argosax and Despair, he's extremely collected.

@Zant5976 Where does it fall into the actual storyline? The only canon games that we know of are 3, 1, and 4. 2 has nearly nothing to do with the sons of sparda specifically. 4 could be considered non-canon, but it's tied to dmc3 by Virgil's Yamato.
and even if it was canon, Capcom made it very clear that they wanted to leave dmc2 in the past.

@ShanaRedFlame actually, the new DmC game could be based on teen dante. (If you have seen the anime, theres an episode where dante goes to his hometown and his name is tony or anthony or something.) pretty much the new DmC could be the prequel to DMC3. who knows. if ninja theory is awesome and does it something like that then it would be interesting. but if not, then ninja theory is just gonna be full of shit :3

@XxUnitedAsiansxX lol Maybe, but I doubt, being honest, DMC3 Was the youngest Dante..he was about 18 or 19 + Dante had this hair since he was born, there is no way for him to have black hair while Vergil had grey hair.. It makes sense in a logical meaning, just look at it he had rebellion as a gift from his father since he was born. Besides he isn't that type, he was arrogant from start to end, he only matured later. + Capcom did state it was gonna be an alternate story, everyone noticed it was.

Because obviously, in every aspect, Dante wouldn't bother dying his hair, first the anime personality fits DMC1 Dante, DMC3 Dante was always up for fun. DMC5 Dante sounds a bit too off, his look, his coat. It has nothing to do with the actual Dante, and Dante never uses a spear. But like you said, It could be a reboot, oh well. I just hope its an alternate story, Can't wait for the actual DMC5.

@ShanaRedFlame The new DMC is telling the story of Dante before he knew he was demon this is what Capcom has said in some of their interviews. If you look in the trailer you can see his hair starting to turn white. It's lie the beginning of the story before Virgil before everything. Capcom has stated that the new DMC will go along with the DMC storyline it is once again just before everything that's why he looks they way he does, which kind of sucks

@lagorbian actually that cannot be, you see, the MAIN protagonist of the series is dante, DMC without dante would be like bayonetta without bayonetta, it doesnt makes sense, first of all capcom said that dmc 5 will only come out in 2 or 3 years, so we still have to wait a little, also dont forget that dante you be even older than what he was in dmc2, and they arent gonna continue make dmc's when dante is gonna get old, imagina a 90 years dude, using a sword and 2 pistols -.-

@hawnkblade dude one of the missions in Dmc4 is called the successor and the mission is played by nero. its allways possible that BECAUSE Dante is getting too old that nero takes over. and its quite possible that the next Dmc could be about Sparda cause no1 knows his Backstory. also while dante has being the main character in all parts the Game is called Devil May Cry not Dante's May Cry so change's could allways be made. someone could allways take over his job.

@hawnkblade whe dont know anything about Nero Yet Considering his Backstory is never told the only thing we do know is that he has the Blood of Sparda Running Through his Veins. so far all we know he could have a huge Power thats stil Dormant in his Body like Dante's Power Was before he Activated it. or Nero could be like many other ppl think the Reincarnation of Vergil. Vergil while not as strong as Dante is still Pretty Damn Powerfull. Powerfull Enough too take over for Dante in my opinion.

Just to clear things up. Dmc4 is before 2. Nero says "the guy just came
from Hell" because he thinks Dante is an ordinary demon. If he knew who he was then he wouldn't have been so suprised to hear Agnus say his name. So yeah... In a sense, Dante could still be in Hell. The motorcycle could've been Lady or Trish.. Or even Nero. But yeah the order is 3,1, anime,4, and 2.

Uh no... DMC3, 1, 4, 2. DMC2. Just keep note that Trish has Sparda and her and Lady are in Dante's shop which he reopened up in DMC1. They showed that in DMC4....Dante is much older in DMC2 as well then DMC4.

Well Dante was not a loose cannon in the origional. He only was in DMC3 which hadn't even come out at the time. So this Dante is actually closer to the origional and the one you see in DMC3 came about as a result of people hating how he was in DMC2.
Nero said "this hand is made for sending guys like you back to hell" and yet I never heard anyone complain.
They never got the old team back. The same people who made DMC2 also made 3 and 4.
