  • why does this guy say he's squatting and then he goes and does a good morning? It's painfully obvious he has no clue how to squat. that 315 would bury him if he actually did attempt to squat with it. this should be deleted before it causes someone to get seriously injured.

  • @MrStitch105 I was thinking the same thing! I had to look at westside videos of squats on youtube, to make sure that they actually went to parallel and kept their chests up. They do.

  • @MrStitch105 He says he's doing a good mornings, and that they're a great exercise for reinforcing squats and deadlifts. Which is true, considering also what he said before.

  • nice series john, i'm new to the westside style of training so can i ask you on ME days if my technique is not solid yet should do i do a paralled normal squat or do GM then do speed squats on DE days. Same thing for the bench press, do i do board presses on ME day or just a normal bench?

  • Hi johnnymnemonic2, i want to thank you for sharing so much of what you know which has been really helpful. i have a couple of questions and i hope you can help me. i'm new to the westside template so lets say my technique is not perfect on all the big 3 lifts, should i just do all the big 3 on ME days, like the parallel squat/deadlift and normal bench instead of box squats or board presses. Then on DE days i just do the same lifts except with % and focus on speed?

    I don't have the original footage, so no. I could re-upload the original video, but most likely the audio would be disabled again.

    I think the video, as is, has probably been uploaded by others to different video hosting sites however - if you find, let me know.

  • actually ur for the 315 is alright. infact. if you look at westside training, even their form is compromised when reaching max effort. if you speak to louie he will tell you that this movement will lead into a partial sq/partial gm. and this is ok when reaching max effort. this video is very helpful to anyone new to westside.

  • It was interesting to watch your stance , at the end of the video, when you were explaining why you couldn't do 315. It was clearly affecting your mood and self-assurance; you're trying to make an excuse, and you body is telling you NOT to. its the only time I see you, in these videos, standing this way, isn't it?

    Good videos, otherwise. This is not criticism, just an interesting observation about human psychology..

  • Don't allow any lower back flexion (rounding) when doing your good mornings. I know some people do and swear by it, but it puts A LOT more stress on the lumbars and unless you are going VERY LIGHT, you're IMHO needlessly risking injury.

    I don't know if that's going to be helpful or not, but until someone pointed it out to me, I did GMs w. a rounded lower back and, guess what, I was having issues.

  • good stuff man. GM's always killed my hams and glutes. any suggestions for reducing stress on lower back. I keep my abs pretty tight and concentrate with my hams and glutes but always feel some lower back discomfort.
