Is Hempcrete suitable for construction of roads and sidewalks? I understand that Hempcrete insulates heat, making it less prone to cracking from thermal variation.
Hi,The mix design we use as Hempcrete wouldn't be of use in this manner. The mix density is 275kg / m3 - I believe it would be prone to compaction. We have used beneath a lime screed where the dense solid screed topping distributes point loads - Unlike other comments on the web I don't consider Hempcrete to be stronger than concrete. In our use it does produce a robust insulating section to receive Render / Plaster or screed finishes. Limecrete [Lime Concrete] may however be viable.
