i AGREE this is the true and CANON ending because otis and carla appear in MI4 saying it took them ages to get off the the island LOL, sure u can make it go other ways but thsi is the one that makes sense with the later games. although the only part i change is i make guybrush kill bob caue he is a ghost after all, and herman still apears if u do it right

@apex2000 If you watch Part 17 from 5:57 to 7:09 you will see where I hit the banana tree instead of the ship. Then if you watch Part 22 from 8:17 to 10:53 , you will see how it effected the dialog. Finally, watch part 23 "Wedding Crashers" from 8:05 to the end and you will see the other ending for the SoMI.

i aimed for the banana tree and got myself the GOOD ending... Anyway how do you get some extra bananas for the monkey while sinking the ship? With the the big hands from the hut?

@bbob919 When SoMI was originally released, either ending could have been considered canonical / the true ending. However, when Escape from Monkey Island (the 4th game was released), the ending where the ship is sunk became the true ending based on the plot & story of Monkey Island 4.

That being said, as I stated in another comment this is actually the true ending. For purpose of my walkthrough, I showed both endings (the one in my walkthrough and the alternate / other ending).

@bbob919 I think you are or should scince later otis and the gang return in escape from monkey island and apperently had a hard time finding their way off the island. So this might be the official ending.

@aspasiz You're right. It is the "real ending" (based on the story of Monkey Island 4). It's just when I did the walkthrough for SoMI, I chose the other ending instead. That being said, I wanted to show both endings (hence the ending in my walkthrough and the alternate / other ending).

I don't get the reference to the banana tree. I hit the tree and sunk the boat when I played it and this is the ending I got. I made a point of attempting to sink the boat to exact revenge on my useless, mutinous crew. A bit surprised it worked actually. Strange the the alternate ( less common? ) ending is the one used in the story canon. Have not seen the other ending yet.
