Try to hold your fingers in like a fist when picking, or anchor your hand somehow.

and for galloping (triplets), its just like, tremolo picking real fast and then stopping for a brief rest :D

I hold my pick like Kirk Hammett with my middle finger out XD

@mikem376 yea anchoring isn't working...i cant tremolo pick either lol i play all down strokes, closest song i can tremolo pick to is disposible heroes...i guess i should practice that untill i can tremolo correctly i wanna be playing battery in two weeks tops!

It's impossible to play those gallops in all downstrokes...

I'm pretty sure James plays everything he can using downstrokes (eg. Master of Puppets), but you just CAN'T gallop at that speed using all downstrokes...
