If Joel is homeless, sick, lost his wife and children, I wonder if he would have that smile on his face and think reeeeally positive. He shouldn't speak of hardship when he never had it, he can never really fully understand unless he went through it himself. He is just hurting more people who are truly suffering. The answer about suffering is never that easy as he says.

Joel loves the Lord and in some of the darkest times in my life, hearing him preach about God's love and His Will for my life was absolutely what I needed to pick myself up. People can knock him all they want, but people need to hear something positive once in a while. When you are flipping through the channels what do you see? Death, destruction, despair and bad news. God has called him to bring Good News and hope in a world where darkness reigns.
I wonder how much money this tool makes spreading myths and superstition with false promises about a better life by believing in something that doesn't even exist.

I love Joel Osteen and what he does and I am an athiest. He is more so a very inspirational speaker in my opinion. He does have a way to make you feel better after listening to him. Now, he could really believe in every thing he does or he could very much be a con man, but the brand that he is selling really do es promote positivity and that is a quality that most Americans need to adopt.

You rarely hear him preach about sin, repentance, and God's judgement. God is more concerned with our spiritual condition than how big our house is or how many cars we have, or how many designer clothes and jewelry we have.

I lived in a cow shed literally with our animals for most my childhood with my family because we couldnt afford our own house and i considered myself blessed because i still had food and a roof over my head. Joel's focus is soundly Scriptural but most "religious Christians" don't understand it because they don't know God's voice or His Word and the preachers they hear haven't told them the truth that Joel emphasizes because they too don't know God very well. Joel grew up in a godly family where love ruled and the preacher was the same at home as he was at church. This solidly helped Joel.

Your preacher doesn't preach that part of the Bible nearly as strong as Joel's dad did and so it's a normal thing for Joel. There used to be a placard on John's pulpit that said, "Expect a miracle!" This is Joel's heritage and the way he dad preached. After his dad would preach a msg,, he'd ask, "Did that help anyone?" "Without faith IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE GOD." You don't seem to understand that.

i may not know the man but i do consider myself a member of his church. his method of preaching may be diffrent but i like it. Ive been to many other churches in the houston area but i feel as though he has a way to really help me better my life nd involve the lord more in it. my life has changed since i have been attending lakewood church.

interesting comment about super churches, in the days of Jesus his following would have been considered a 'super church' because of how many people came. Joel simply offers people to be grateful, be faithful and live the best they can with what they have. Bills are always overdue. my dad jus thad a stroke. my eldest sister's baby is disabled because of the doctors, her husband passed away from rock fishing. and we are still able to wake up in the morning and rejoice! Suffering is not easy, but its better to wake up finding the best in life, rather than sulking and crying about how poor or misfortunate we are.

People can knock him all they want, but people need to hear something positive once in a while. When you are flipping through the channels what do you see? Death, destruction, despair and bad news. When we can sit behind a computer and not have to answer to anyone, and say whatever pops into our feeble little minds and almost swear they'll be no consequences to our actions right? I love Joel Osteen and what he does and I am an athiest. He is more so a very inspirational speaker in my opinion. He does have a way to make you feel better after listening to him. Now, he could really believe in every thing he does or he could very much be a con man, but the brand that he is selling really do es promote positivity and that is a quality that most Americans need to adopt.

@Queenweezy1 I agree to a certain extent. I'm not knocking him, but he draws large crowds to his church because he only talks about positive things and financial prosperity. You rarely hear him preach about sin, repentance, and God's judgement. God is more concerned with our spiritual condition than how big our house is or how many cars we have, or how many designer clothes and jewelry we have.

@CPTBlackDragon07 bro i have only heard him speak about prosperity and that doesnt just mean in money but in life, like relationships, career etc. God doesnt want us to be lacking otherwise wat would be the point. I lived in a cow shed literally with our animals for most my childhood with my family because we couldnt afford our own house and i considered myself blessed because i still had food and a roof over my head. I also think that some Christians settle for mediocrity rather then receiving fully what God has for them. When we give we get and when we get we give.

Psalm 128:2 "You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours." God always used the example of Kingship; kings govern the area of there nation (household) and there running s (finances, vision, career etc) also the example of Priesthood; Spiritual (integrity, giving, love etc)

I also have 3 businesses that fund a budgeting service called CAPS (Christians Against Poverty) within my community. God Bless

Joel's focus is soundly Scriptural but most "religious Christians" don't understand it because they don't know God's voice or His Word and the preachers they hear haven't told them the truth that Joel emphasizes because they too don't know God very well. Joel grew up in a godly family where love ruled and the preacher was the same at home as he was at church. This solidly helped Joel.

Your preacher doesn't preach that part of the Bible nearly as strong as Joel's dad did and so it's a normal thing for Joel. There used to be a placard on John's pulpit that said, "Expect a miracle!" This is Joel's heritage and the way he dad preached. After his dad would preach a msg,, he'd ask, "Did that help anyone?" "Without faith IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE GOD." Their mindset is, "We have believed that God's gonna really put it on everyone who doesn't shape up!" and "Everyone who doesn't preach the way we think they should is bad ... very bad... and God's gonna get them first!"
It's almost funny, but really, it's very sad. No GOOD parent wants their children thinking of them that way. But Joel's critics are deceived about God.

@josephc28 All you have to do is search on yt for John Osteen and you can see for yourself that his father was drawing the same size crowd, so the church size was already established. Frankly, Joel is a very different type of preacher than his father but that is because Joel is Joel and John was John. As for the content of Joel's messages, even if he preached more of what you are saying he omits someone else would still complain about him for something. Don't you see that you are knocking him?

this guy has nothing but good things to say, there is no hatred in his heart and that's why he doesn't run around condemning people, he does however make it clear he believes it's not God's best, which is a more respectful and prudent way of getting his message across. If he were to fall to an ordinary level, he would be saying something like "this is not God's at all!!" which would just promote hate, anger and more frustration. i may not know the man but i do consider myself a member of his church. his method of preaching may be diffrent but i like it. Ive been to many other churches in the houston area but i feel as though he has a way to really help me better my life nd involve the lord more in it. my life has changed since i have been attending lakewood church.

interesting comment about super churches, in the days of Jesus his following would have been considered a 'super church' because of how many people came. I don't think any one preacher is going to be able to reach every individual. We all reach people in our own way with the message. Our hope can only be that we present the message in truth and that everyone is offered the choice. Iron sharpens iron, maybe we can get folks in if promote it like wrestling.

And the only way you can see them for what they are is by testing them. Joel simply offers people to be grateful, be faithful and live the best they can with what they have. We can't say that we can't imagine that God would use someone or not. God says in his word (bible) "for my thoughts are not your thoughts and neither are your ways my ways" Isaiah 55:8. But I do think that Joel should quote some scripture and not worry if they will like him or not. It's really God who the world hates and God can defend himself. The media will twist your words around, but as long as God knows what comes out of your mouth, that all that counts. God Bless!

Id rather listen to that then all the failures of someones life, wheres the improvement in that?. @myviewization, It's way more than a "talking positive" issue, people are saying and doing 'things' that ARE NOT scriptural, and meaning well by man's standards versus doing what's right in the eyes of the LORD are two vastly separate issues. When we come to stand before the Lord if what 'we've' done doesn't add up to what the LORD said we should have been doing, it WILL all be for naught in the eyes of a Holy, Righteous and Just God. Society's standards WILL NOT measure up to God's.

Did not Jesus Christ say that all who followed Him would suffer persecution as they "took up their cross", and that the world would turn on them because they followed Him? Jesus NEVER preached a feel good message, but told it like it is and that's what most can't stand.

@Matlike1, can 'you' tell me what "GOD/JESUS' definition of "good" is? Does it in any way, shape or form, compare to what the 'Biblical' standards say God is looking for from us? What did the Lord tell us to do if we truly believed in and followed 'Him' and what we could expect to happen in the 'long run'? Jesus preached sermons that left 'us' uneasy because it went to the 'heart and soul' of what we're really like as humans, separated from a Holy, Rigtheous and Just God and Savior.
