  • So um.. let me get this straight. We're supposed to take this seriously because of all the "naturalistic materialistic" evidence?

  • I love God and everything.. but Jesus... He's a great teacher. But the dying to save humanity.. hmmmm

  • You will only find that it complies with the kjv. Every other translation is garbage and if you are reading anything else, get rid of it!

  • God bless you! Thanks for the facts. If the scrolls have been dated to 2,000 yrs-ago, make references to OT prophets, and predict a savior but don't explicitly mention Jesus, then Jesus did, in fact, live & died, and is the Messiah. If you don't think those premises are scientific, then you need to go back to school...but not where they teach that foolish evolution! Strange, I used to object carbon-dating but now that I can use it as "evidence," it's ok! Science supports Christian history! :p

  • Great video

  • Thank you for this information. God bless you!

  • Crazy stuff, I actual dont kno anything about the dead sea scrolls so im kinda just getting started on learning bout them...i guess it only further prooves the existance of jesus christ (lord n savior!)

  • It is hard to know where to start there are so many lies passed around. The facts: The dead sea scrolls and the prophetical writings predate Jesus and predict what happened. There are Jewish and secular writings dating from the time that affirm His existence, some of His works and his death. Not to mention the books written by the eye witness believers. Both affirm the facts of His living and ding, but only the ones written by the believers (which makes sense) affirm his rising again as fact.

  • This is all assuming that Jesus was in fact who he is claimed to be by the Bible and that he did do everything it said he did. Take these scrolls and the books after them with a grain of salt. Written by man, and men are flawed greatly. Greater than any creature.

  • You are deliberately misrepresenting the truth - isn't that a sin?

Isaih 2:1-39 only date to c700BC but you knew that.

Irrelevant anyway as the gospels were written with knowledge of the prophecies and so it is hardly surprising they fit their story to them.

  • @Huttate1 It would be nice if medical technology advances to the point where people could live 700 years. Imagine how hard it would be for someone to be duped.

  • What is it with christian leaning sites that everything needs to be censored? Are you folks going back to your 2000 year history when that was the way it was? Annoying to everyone and a sign that you are unable to tolerate any dissenting views, so happy are you to wallow in your own dogma, right or wrong. Sick!

  • don't the DSS actually disprove christianity??? that's what they said on National geographic!! WHAT exactly do the scrolls say relating to christianity, or the origins??

  • The Dead Sea Scrolls provide comparative information for the study of ancient Hebrew and the Bible text. Included non-scriptural manuscripts and fragments help us to understand the context of Jewish life during the time that Jesus preached. One of the most exciting discoveries is a complete manuscript of the book of Isaiah. It shows consistent use of the Tetragrammaton, יהוה, God’s holy name, Jehovah, in Hebrew.

  • The dead sea scrolls were written between 150 bc and 70 ad and make no mention of jesus whatsoever. They do mention a "Messiah" and the prophesy which of course the jews are waiting for. Fail.

  • @clearly Jesus is the messiah that the Jews were waiting for, Jesus fits every prophecy in Isaiah down to the very prophecy that said that the Jews would reject the coming messiah; that's Jesus, Jesus was rejected, Jesus fits in ALL of the Isaiah prophecies.

  • The difference is the Messanic prophecies were about the last days of the end times not 2,000 years ago. The Messanic prophecies were about the last days of the end of the times. The Jewish sages didn't understand the flame of Joseph until 135 years after Christ.

  • You people are stupid. Just because one guy, jesus, spoke out against the laws that were put out at that time and he was one of the only people to step out about it. the only person to do it. doesnt mean he wept for our sins. thats what people thought of it as. its cool if u wanna follow it. dont say he didnt have sex, a wife or girl, he was not perfect. just actually stepped up to the "government" in other words. Like rosa parks did with the bus. same shit.

  • Hard to refute physical artifacts. You are confusing interpretation (Dawkins) with observable data (the scrolls).

  • I'm sure Richard Dawkins can refute the dead sea scrolls :)

  • @unprofessionalvids I can refute that you exist! :D the hell with it, I can even refute that I exist!

  • Isaha is word for word ( DSS > OT ) However there is no mention of Jesus in the DSS and the beatitudes taught by the Essenes if very different to the New Testament.

  • i think its important that they were mostly written in hebrew. this shows that the Jews werent speaking greek exclusively, as does some other letters of antiquity.

  • How many "facts" in the NT have been invented for this purpose? With other predictions there is circular reason. Jesus is thought to be the Messiah so he must fulfill the prophecies.

  • thats right ..they should have not surrvied...think about it

  • From what Jesus says and preaches, he was well familiar with these dead sea scrolls.

  • This was very interesting. Thank you.

  • Wow!! very impressive! So now we have actual proof that the modern fairytale was truly based off of an old fairytale! Soon Jesus Clause will come tumbling out of the sky, save mankind from himself and become dictator of the world! Then he’ll wipe our minds clean so we can stand perfectly ignorant, dumb and naive before the eternal God. Amen Ra

  • "some manuscripts of the books of Exodus and Samuel found in Cave Four exhibit dramatic differences in both language and content."

From the Oxford Companion to Archaeology.

Not all the books found are verbatim transcriptions.

  • ??what person would want to die for me? what kind of person would die in a horrible death just for me? who been able to heal a blind person? who been able 2make the cripple walk? who has been able 2walk on water? who controld the winds? hmm...As a biology major how s it possible that one cell is able to work in the way it does? its sooo perfect? who? Lord Jesus! I have Jesus to lean on, I have Jesus to help me, I have Jesus who defeated death and gives me all I need, who do u have, u? lol u die

  • @thelittlejennie

"I have Jesus that defeated death" ... you speak of 'death' as if it were a physical being. You're gonna say "its metaphorical", so explain to me: as a metaphor has a hidden meaning, what's the meaning behind death? Death is a punishment, a judgement, a lack of existence. After death, you exist only as a spiritual being. So does that mean that, the meaning behind life, is oppositual to that of death? Life is existence, and is freedom. So why are we all worried about judgement?

  • @Sum41rocks47 i say to you now that ur on youtube, try watching zeitgeist religion part 1-4 and then tell me how u believe in god

  • Heb. 11:6

  • Okay. So they found an older version of the bible. That sill doesn't make it true. As far as the prophecy of a messiah, that could have easily been self fulfilled. Indeed, there were many who claimed to be the messiah. The stories won't be truly believed until god shows himself like he should have done years ago. Where is god. Has anyone seen him, touched him, heard him speak. Of course not.

  • I personly do not have to be show. but God he knows how to put his word in the earth. and put it in are hands. right. he God. he sent his son he made this earth. his hands is all over it. you can not look at it for real and say he is not. a fool will say it . but true people knoiw he is. even if they do not take Jesus in side.well done. child of God

  • @777amaya

    sumerian texts

the old testement didnt start getting composed till around 1300 b.c

  • I saw the book of Isaiah and wow. Isaiah is enough for me to believe. period

Isaiah 53 speaks of christ. Jesus is lord.

  • @itdaddy85 Yes, it is illogical to not believe Jesus is the Messiah. He fulfilled over 300 prophecies. Jesus is Lord!

  • whats older, the dead sea scrolls? or the sumerian text?

  • why are all these christians getting all orgasmic over some old jewish books being discovered? this has nothing to do with christianity -- stop trying to use old jewish books to justify crazy christian beliefs.

basically all religion is delusional but to use another religion to justify your own religion seems to be particularly delusional

  • @daisybicycle

This is the funniest comment I've read on here. Christianity is the fulfillment of Judaism. The Old Testament constitutes the majority of the books found in the Christian Bible.

You really shouldn't be posting comments on a video like this if you didn't even know that the Christian Old Testament is the same thing as the Jewish Tanakh.

  • So the bible is not 2000 years out of date, it is 2100 years out of date.

  • it doesnt say anything in the old testament about of as it is a different book.

Maybe if it did the new testament would be believeable ,

I believe the old testamont is a very important book thet has been translated badly on porpously by the way

  • good stuff TruthSmack, another brethren truth seeker. peace to ya man.

  • Am I a spaceman? Do I belong to a new race on Earth, bred by men from outer space in embraces with Earth women? Are my children offspring of the first interplanetary race? Has the melting-pot of interplanetary society already been created on our planet, as the melting-pot of all Earth nations was established in the USA 190 years ago? Or does this thought relate to things to come in the future? I request my right to have such thoughts and ask such questions without being threatened to be jailed

  • Where in the dead sea scrolls does it mention even one time that Jesus Christ rose from the dead?

  • Seeing as the dead sea scrolls only have Old Testament manuscripts and are dated at the latest to the 2nd century BC, that would be.........ZERO! :-)

  • Read The Sacred Mushroom and the cross. Wake up. There is no hell. We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience.

  • Amazing! Thanks for posting this video!!

  • They found Greek New Testament parts in Qunram too.

  • @biblia2016 , good you found it , because muhammed is just daylight criminal who stole many words from bible torah to buid up his lies and start shedding blood when nobody belived in him,

  • It's good to be reminded that this old find validates the same text that has been used by the Holy Spirit to convince many of the Messiah. Read Acts and the account of the Philip and the Eunuch. So much that needs to be read and not just gOOOOOOOgled...ye lazy tubers.

  • to quote the Leading authority on the Dead Sea Scrolls, Robert Eisenman, "The Dead Sea Scrolls show another form of Messianism, closer to Jamesianism and closer to Islam, and not close to Paulianism at all"

  • @ericvanderhousen Robert Eisenman isn't the leading authority on the Dead Sea Scrolls at all... and the scriptures of the Dead Sea Scrolls are NOTHING like Islam. They're diametrically opposed on every point.

  • Anyone ever heard of self fulfilling prophecy? You get an outstanding men that can challenge the way of life of a time and tell his story in books which were written lots of years after his death by non ocular witnesses in a way that it makes him the messiah everyone hears about nowadays.

Those books, written before Jesus, won't prove his divinity, unless you can prove he was actually divine.

  • Do the dead sea scrolls prove Jesus was crucified and resurrected after 3 days? Do they confirm his divinity? Does anyone know the answer to these questions?

  • Don't know and never claim to know all the answers... But when you step outside the box and think about what Jesus was doing at that time with new teachings, peaceful cool ways, telling the evil money grabbing guys to wise up in their wicked ways, telling the egomanics they're praying to false Gods, giving many common folk who hated the controlling system hope and courage to stand tall and so on.. There would only be one outcome against the powers that be for him and that is death by murder.

  • Actually, an interesting fact. The Book of Mormon. Just like the Dead Sea Scrolls, contains many books of Isaiah. The communities were just like the Qumran people, and the Bible says 3 days, the Book of Mormon says 3 days and testifies of Christ's Atonement. And a discovery of the "Lost Gospel of Peter" says 3 days as well. In fact, it has some remarkable similarities to the Book of Mormon account of darkness during the time Christ was in the tomb.

  • The book of mormon is less than a hundred years old tard

  • @shamstar

In actuality, The Bible makes close to no sense UNLESS Jesus is God. I'm going to send you a video that i'm hoping will help you find the answers

  • these scrolls only further prove that the bible is not the 'word of god' - but that the bible is the work of many men editing and re-editing and acting in their own interests to control populations.

no where is the bible are any directions or statements about the bible being the actual word of god.

to be clear: the bible is not the word of god.

  • Lol.

    You're kidding, right?

You make yourself look stupid when you go around making posts like this.

First off, everyone now knows you have absolutely zero knowledge of the Bible, or else you'd know that it says that it is the Word of God not only in one place, but in many, many places.

    MANY places.

  • What is the mathematical probability that you can predict one, much less a number of events happening to the same person 100 years from now if you are not God? That is the evidence.

  • The dead sea scrolls only shows that the copies of today are consistent with those of 100 BC. How do we know that from the ORIGINAL version of the bible up until the dead sea scrolls, that there weren't copying errors. Even if the bibles of today are the same as the original (which we don't have), that still doesn't prove that the bible is true. There is no evidence. The bible contradicts itself, inaccuracies. Applauds slavery, etc.

  • What is the mathematical probability that you can predict one, much less a number of events that will happen to the same person in a 100 years time accurately if you are not God? That is the evidence.

  • What is the mathematical probability that you can predict one, much less a number of events happening to the same person 100 years from now if you are not God? That is the evidence.

  • What is the mathematical probability that you can predict one, much less a number of events happening to the same person 100 years from now if you are not God? That is the evidence.

  • doesn't this sound a little bit suspect to anyone? some people lost a goat and miraculously found documents which out lasted its average life span and is now in the gospel?

  • NO, but you are the suspect because of your name - deepseafox

  • this is for all you people who thinks that the bible was fake that it wasnt real, that it wasnt from the lord!! this scrolls are proof that the bible is real, that jesus crist existed and that hes the lord . the documents are obiesly ancient from those times the only thing that the scrolls do is to confirm the existence and the truth about crist.

  • The story of how they were found does sound a bit dodgy to me yes.

  • Who cares, the evidence is what it is. The bible = Truth.

    As fortold.

•"because 'All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, But the word of the LORD endures forever.' " [1 Peter 1:24-25]

    Believe it! :)

  • this guy will run for election some day.

  • Well, the Dead Sea Scrolls didn't stop at 100 b.c, the people kept writing for centuries, also during the time that "Jesus Of Nasareth", "Jesus Christ" was supposed to have lived, but they never mentioned him with as much as a syllable. Weird, eh? Cheers! : )

  • Why would they have mentioned a witch?

And, besides, we do not have the entirety of their writings.

Lack of evidence is not proof of inexistence.

  • The dead sea scrolls didn't mention Jesus' name because it was the old testament books... Jesus hadn't been born. If the DSS's had been copies of the new testament they would have mentioned Jesus, but these are merely exact copies. Copying the Bible back then was a big deal, and showing that these are word for word with today's Bible is a huge find and support to the authenticity of today's Bible (OT).

  • or it just proves that your all nutts and that its just a story ?

  • @mikeyboy86 Yes, the dead sea scrolls mention Jesus. Read up on it. Scholars and theologians have studied them and written numerous articles on them. Copying the "bible" didn't occur until after the "bible" was put together a few centuries after Jesus. You can read up on the history of the bible, also.

  • @mikeyboy86 "The dead sea scrolls didn't mention Jesus' name because it was the old testament books"

But proves the accuracy of psalms/Isaiah and any other messiah prophecy everyone claimed we tampered with on the greek manuscripts. Virgin instead of young lady? Yes sir. Isaiah 7. Piercing of hands and feet? Psalm 22 Yea. Jesus on the right hand of God?

Psalm 110 "The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet."

    Yup! list goes on. :)

  • @mikeyboy86 LOL rubbish. any errors and falsifications in current bible... READ!!!!

  • @mikeyboy86 DSSs are predicting. Duh! A messiah is a messiah. There was ONLY ONE! Or do you think without his family name, they could've meant Kevin, that other guy who was known as a 'sorcerer' 'wonder worker' 'teacher' 'wise man' who 'drew a great following of all kinds' and was crucified for going against 'authority' then escaped his grave? No. I hate to break it to you but there was NO Kevin.

  • It doesn't say anything about the fulfillment of anything

  • It sounds to me like more proof of what really happened in history. The Jews must have considered this Extremely important information clearly reiterating Immanuel as the name of the Messiah. And they didnt want the Romans to destroy all their Evidence.

  • KaptainChronic 69:

I'm sorry, but that response is without information or critical thinking. We have definite evidence of George Washington's existance. We have letters written by him and to him; He was the president, a political figure, he was recognized by other nations as the leader of an actual, physical nation. We also have first hand eyewitness accounts recorded and documented about Washington. None of this can be applied to Jesus, so doesn't that make your argument childish?

  • Sure we have much more evidence of George Washington. However, please take into account that Jesus lived 2000 plus years ago, not 200 years ago. I think you need to understand how hard it is to do research on anyone who lived 2000 years ago. Jesus is the Lord. Deny it all you want....That is just fine!@

  • @cahughes1983 we have evidence of king david who would have been less monumental and is significantly older than jesus. we know that king david was a historical figure that really did exist. so instead of comparing jesus to george washington, lets compare him to king david. they are both mentioned in the bible, david is much older than jesus and less influential, less important. so why do we have evidence for king david, but not for jesus?

  • @greycloud24 There is more palpable evidence of King David because he was a king, rich in earthly possession and earthly power. Jesus taught value in spirit, and leaving all behind. There is more evidence of Jesus in writings and the conversion of Rome etc IMO. Few scholars will argue that Jesus never lived. The dead Sea scrolls distinctly prove a Messiah was prophesied about and it is seldom believed that Jesus never lived. This leaves us only to think about the truth of what He did in life.

  • awesome vid

  • There is absolutely no doubt, historically speaking, that Jesus existed as a man. The debate back then was whether He was the son of God or not and questions about His resurrection...both of which are of course true.

  • Comment removed

  • "ofcourse"? Seems like a strong word for something you can't know for sure

  • I hope you're not one of those Christians that believe that the earth is only 6000 years old, especially if you're talking about Carbon-14, paleontological evidence etc. Those are the things that prove that the earth is 4.5 billion and that dinosaurs existed years ago.

  • The Earth being 4.5 billion years old is only a theory :P one thing that we know for sure is man is 15,000 years old... as for when the Earth was really created we don't really know exactly.

  • God was born yesterday in geological time.

  • It is more than theory. It is proven by nuclear decay. As for time of creation. We know light travels at 186,000 miles per second and we are receiving light from stars 9 Billion miles distant. Carbon 14 is a short term radiation. Cesium 135 is used to date back to millions and billions of years. Science, unlike the Bible, is not dependent on a single book. As Einstein said about religion, "The whole thing is pretty silly don't you think?"

  • my thought is that you should go study in order: egyptian mythology, cananite mythology, the dead sea scrolls, mitraism, then the bible. now doesn't that put everything into perspective?

  • how does this guy claim that this scrolls came before jesus when there isn't an proof that jesus ever existed? there are 3 historical texts which speak of christ but not referring to "Jesus Christ" instead meaning the annointed one. there is also one false text. so how did this guy make up the date for jesus's make believe bday?

  • Historians all agree he existed. YOU however dont. Get a life. Roman Historians at the time made reference to him.

  • You shouldn't use the word ALL, you can never get everyone to agree. BTW, there are no historians that mention Jesus that were alive the same time he was. Josephus is closest, who was born in 37AD, several years after Jesus died. So even he could've been influenced by early Christians. I don't know if this cat's name was Jesus, but there was probably some radical leader, similar to a MLK or Gandhi of his time. After he dies, a small cult forms and everyone likes a hero, especially a martyr.

  • You're on to something, only we know even more than that. The teachings ascribe to Jesus in the gospels that involve a passivist reaction to being wronged, likely reflects the Greek influence on Jewish thought of the time; in this case, the ethical teachings of Stoic philosophers in particular (at least, we see several such teachings from the period being ascribed to Jesus by the gospel authors.)

  • @PatriotKS1975 "Roman Historians at the time made reference to him"

There are NO contemporary accounts of the events of the life of Jesus out side the gospels. Not a one. There are accounts written 70 to 200 years later of what Christians believed about the life of jesus. But no one single account written during his "life" other than the gospels. Nobody noticed the 3 hours of darkness at the crucification. Not Pliny the elder or Tacitus. Nobody.

  • Well they wanted to make the Pagans happy that they were converting, and since the Pagan already had a holiday on the 25th of December, celebrating the winter solstice (Romans were a little off on the day) and the their sun gods, the early Christians were like "Oh yeah actually Jesus was born on that day, you can celebrate that instead and keep all your family traditions"... If you don't believe any of this read the Wikipedia article for Christmas and make your own judgments.

  • thaprecepta if u dont beleive Jesus was the son of God, thats your belief, but theres no more proof of the existance of George Washington that there is of Jesus Christ. Discrediting the religious aspect of him is one thing, but denying the existance of him as a man is just childish.

  • @thaprecepta Do you believe Julius Caesar existed? Because there is less evidence for him having existed than there is for Jesus.

  • @0tto777 Cesar was mentioned in the bible also.

  • it tells me some parts might be true.

  • What do the dead sea scrolls say about the Book of Esther, it's missing, but there are additional Psalms. Is this a sign of editing?

  • i am a moslim and ik think this is great stuff

  • what makes it great to you?

  • At least, he gave us a bit of infos about, how they found the dead sea scroll. so you re saying, the bible we use to read, compare with Isaah, there is no difference? So either one of them, I can read, then?

  • awesome!!!!

  • ALSO.... GOD warned that to change one mark or word in scripture would result in a curse. K that's in the sroll's favor... but there's still the fact that it was a GOAT that lead them to the scrolls

  • hey mydemonsolitude are you saying that you were the one who lead that kid to find that scrolls? wow thats amazing...

  • one comment... A GOAT led man to the srolls... caution....

  • Oh crap... Let's hope they didn't break any mirrors or step on any cracks on their way up there either!

  • It's great to know that the Word of God is so consistent throughout history. Keep up the good work buddy.

  • nice clip

  • Excellent. Well done.

  • He's cute but needs a little help with some Hebrew pronounciations

  • Yes, the dead sea scrolls are important. They really shed light on the origins of monotheism.

  • well said
